Will you die for your faith?

Yes, I Think the majority of Christians will end up dying because they are just that...'Christians', and because they name the name of Christ.
It's coming down the road. We will each have to stand up and be counted....or counted out, as the case may be.

I mean "Would you put your life on the line for the sake of the gospel?" Would you die for someone.

Obviously I would like to 'think' that I would...but can any of us really know until the time of testing?

It took my hubby and myself 4 weeks to pray about accepting a position in the African bush ( we were asked to go out and fill in for a sick missionary who needed to come home for a year. )
The thing is...our kids were about 8 and 9 years old, so we would have to leave them at home with grandparents. It took much prayer ...but finally our hearts were willing.

Harder for my husband as he hates big spiders and snakes!! :D

i've only been hearing this for...my entire Christian life? Meanwhile i note the mechanism by which most Western Christians are dying now, namely wasting diseases? So wadr "one of these things is not like the other" imo

Maybe so...but like the scripture says ...however near it was, it is even closer now :D
11 "And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
"

Everything is nearer than it was when we first believed. :p

I used to work with a Christian who was a human shield in Iraq, chained to a power plant trying to prevent the bombing. I too had the threat of prison time to stare down from choosing peace over violence. Die for the faith? There would be nothing to live for without Christ.

If we live so long there may be a good chance for it. It seems to be happening already outside the Western supposedly Christian world, and things are not exactly the same as they were when we were young. Of course LOL when I was young I doubt I understood what it would mean to die for my faith. Now I may still not understand, but maybe I'm closer to understanding.

Consider what Jesus knew and understood when he asked his Father to remove his cup. Did he understand it all better than we do...? We are supposed to eventually be like him. Does this mean that we will understand as Jesus did the need to go ahead and give our reins to God in spite of the apparently painful consequences.

Indeed!

"Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life." John 6:67-68

And doctors to heal our infirmities instead of looking to God.
God gave us gifts of ministry... One of those gifts is the ministry of healing. What happens though is that those who believe they are recipients of such a gift use the methods of the world rather than the means by which God gave to bring the needed treatment to those in need. Ancient cultures have more understanding of natural medicine than the pharmaceutical industry.
The pharmaceutical industry has a vested interest in treating symptoms to induce people into believing they are getting better, but the root causes of illness remain untreated. If doctors recommended and guided people into the correct lifestyles such as Good Diet. Plenty of Exercise. Proper rest. Adequate Sunshine. Clean Water. Fresh air. Temperance in all things, then people will live healthier longer and more fulfilling lives. And if they did get sick, in most cases natural remedies and their own string immune systems will take care of it. Even cancers are healed by diet in many cases.
