One thing I find missing in religions is common sense.

God gave Moses the law of 10 commandment and Moses took them to the Jewish people. They set up a religion that had men as priests. It didn’t take long for the law to become 630 laws. Fast forward and we see that the men in charge who knew the law which stated that killing someone is a sin. But they had Jesus killed. So we see, with common sense, that those in charge were not men of God.

Fast forward to today’s RCC “”AND THE OTHERS OF RELIGION ”” and we can see the same results. The religious leaders committed the sin of murder when they burned people at the stake. Somehow I can’t see Paul having people burned at a stake for not believing his gospel.

Mankind thinks that God has gone away and left people in the hands of men that can be deceived. I don’t think so. He gave us a better way and it is described in the Bible book Hebrews.

I can settle, for myself, where we got the Bible by saying this. God gave us the Bible. Yes men wrote it but God was in control of it. Have you not read in the Bible that God used a pagan king to chastise Israel when they left Him and started worshipping idols. He also used a pagan king to get the Temple rebuilt. And He used some to put together the writings of men of God.

So the fact is, God used some people to put the Bible together, but it was still the work of God that gave us the Bible. Man wishes to give man the glory for it but we can see that many of the things prophesied in the O.T. came true and it was given to them by God.

Churches do not tell people that Jesus atoned (paid) for all their sins on the cross. Paid for, not just available. It was all finished on the cross. Mankind does not have to finish it by works of the flesh in religions. What they do have to do is believe it, have faith in it, trust in it, have confidence in His shed blood that paid for sins of the flesh.

When a person stands before God and states all the things they did in religion to get them into heaven He will ask "what did they do about the work of God (Jesus) on the cross." Did they trust in His work or in their work in a religion.

As for me my salvation is not in man’s religion. It is in my trust in God, not in men. I am in His care, not in the care of men.

Some good comments! although the original Levitical priesthood was God ordained, it was a system that was changed (Hebrews 7), and the Lord Jesus is golriously revealed as our Great High Priest.

Ancient Hebrews must have loved deer hunting. They had scores of laws about hunting, butchering, tanning hides etc.

The Rabbis found ways around the laws about travel distance on the sabbath. They established multiple temporary dwellings so that they could not be criticized for going to their "home".

Make a law and the desire to break or bend it becomes an obsession.

It was humorous when Paul said in keeping the commandments he was perfect except the one "thou shalt never have wanted to do any of the above"

If ppl try hard enough they will find ingenious ways around doing anything, it seems...

If God was in control we would only have one, if God was in control we would have no religion because all men would walk in the spirirt, just as He hoped would happen after Pentecost, but men took control and we see what happened.

I can't agree at all that God is supposedly not in control.

God has a plan He will finish it no matter what man does. Ultimatey He is in control otherwise He would not have said that "Mar_13:20 And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days."But we and teh devil have teh run for the moment

The Jews rejected Jesus as their Messiah and King and in 70 AD God let Rome destroy their Temple and the Jews have been out of favor every since.

Now we see that man wants to reject the payment Jesus made on their behalf and just have faith in their religions.

That is when God will take those that have faith in His Son's work on the cross home leaving the whole world in rejection of Him and then He will pour out His wrath on the whole world for 7 years.

you will still be judged for your works, not for your beliefs HR,
2 Corinthians 5:10
but you can keep ignoring that for now if you like
That is when God will take those that have faith in His Son's work on the cross home

Mosaic law and covenant ended at the cross. Yet we have some that still demand they are still in force.

You cannot add numbers to what does not exist. But you see some here doing exactly that.

Common sense? First you have to define what is common. Then does make sense?

What is comon today is apostasy.

For the born-again it makes absolutely no sense. For the rest makes perfect sense.

Yes, God's plan will be accomplished exactly as He has planned it.

"So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." Isaiah 55:11

Within His plan a person may travel with and/or for the Right hand or with and/or for the Left hand. Travel with and/or for the Left will find us at the end with the goats. How can a person traveling as a goat become a sheep?

"When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:
And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:
And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left." Matt 25:31-33

Does not continuing to read in Matthew 25 provide us the answer... if we are able to understand it?

It seems to me that common sense would come to a conclusion given the facts about the law:
1. Jesus, Paul and James (from the epistle of James) all concluded or made statements that note if you are guilty of one point of the law, you are guilty of breaking the whole law.
2. No one ever kept the whole law. Not Moses, not David and even technically... Not even Jesus.
3. Paul said the law was given so the offense may abound. That's Romans 5 where he explains that grace much more covers sin.
4. Matthew 5 notes a few sins wherwhere Jesus says if you even think about it in your heart, you are guilty.

So common sense tells us we have no chance in the flesh to be able to keep the law!

Common sense would leave an intelligent person in dispair then. EXCEPT that another option was given. And that is grace through faith. We have been given two commandments. Love the Lord and love each other.

That sounds simple, but God did give alot of ways to do this. He said come and learn of me. He said that he chose the foolishness of preaching to save them who were lost. He said faith comes by hearing the word and you can't hear without a preacher.

In other words, common sense would demand that if you should love the Lord and others you should learn how to do it.

He no longer is looking for peoole to adhere to the law of Moses (which is, by the way, the law of God). He has a new covenant.

God is no longer asking you to keep the Law. He now wants your life! He gave his for us, and he wants us to give ours.

Where are you guys getting these numbers??? I've never seen any more than 613.
Correct. It was Maimonides (Ramban) who presented this number, which includes 365 *negative* laws (for each day of the year) and 248 *positive* laws (for each bone in the body).

So mankind did not invent those laws, and it is God who set up the Levitical priesthood. At the same time, the OT saints were justified (deemed righteous) by grace through faith, while the blood of sacrificial animals simply *covered* sins for a season.

613 or 630, does it really matter? each number is greater than 10.
It matters because if you are going to be careless and inaccurate in obvious things like that, how many other things are you saying don't really matter if they are right or wrong?

You are right. Just as the religion of he Jews changed over time the gospel for today has changed over time also. Neither one has retained the truth of the original.

2 Cor 11:3
3 But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
