No one would be saved on this basis, so it is purely a straw man.
The flesh cannot save. But most preach and believe a legalistic gospel aimed at the flesh. And those who comply think they are saved by their fleshly response. But the gospel of grace announces (preaches) salvation for all who believe what they are hearing. If you believe, you have eternal life. Because faith is a fruit of the Holy Spirit.

Don't just sit on your hands=do your part=choose to believe!!
Man has a part in his salvation=things to do, believe and say. He must start by choosing to believe!
Romans: Chapter 10 verse 9-10-13

God says==That """if""" thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,

and ""shalt believe"" in your heart that God hath raised him

from the dead, thou shalt be Saved. For with the heart man

believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth ""confession

is made unto Salvation"". For whosoever shall ""call ""upon the

name of the Lord "shall" be Saved..........
If you must choose (force yourself) to believe, it is because you don't truly believe.

We have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, Romans 5:2.
“When he wanted to cross over to Achaia, the brothers wrote to the disciples urging them to welcome him. After he arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace.” (Acts 18:27) (HCSB)

But we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand. Romans 5:2.
“When the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord; and as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.” (Acts 13:48) (NASB95)

By Faith, can’t have faith without the in dwelling of the Holy Spirit. Can’t even confess Him as Lord without the in dwelling of the Holy Spirit. Mans carnal faith is vain Holy Spirit faith quickens(gives life, new birth) they walk in newness of life. This is undeniably what happened at Pentecost. The spirit abides. Whole altogether different group of men. Boldness displayed fear cast out power displayed fruit of the spirit realized.

So you receive the Holy Spirit, then faith, and then you become a recipient of grace.

I really thought before that grace comes before receiving the Holy Spirit.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. Eph. 2:8-9

Amen, no contradiction.

I couldn't agree more. God gives us faith, by His grace, and through this grace-given faith we are enabled to believe. All God's work from start to finish, which brings God 100% of the glory..... that is the real reason I am against having a part to play in our Salvation. Not that it doesn't look good, but that it robs God of at least part of the glory of our salvation.

Actually, faith and believing are synonyms; only one is a verb and the other is a noun.
