Well, that is our opinion now

Ah but it is not an opinion. Should one who gets circumcised get circumcised again? Of course not, baptism just like circumcision is the entrance into God's covenant now how silly would it sound to tell someone to get circumcised again it would be meaningless because it could not be done as baptism is once and can no be redone. That is why redoing baptism is meaningless

It's not so simple.

Throughout Christiandom you'll encounter a wide variety of views on what is the New Covenant, how a person enters it (their personal level of devotion), and methodology of what is consider to be a valid baptism.
If Group A of believers considers a person's pervious baptism to be invalid, then in Group A's eyes the person needs baptized because they never were in the first place.

That was only after men got involved in the 1500's, then the baby got thrown out with the bath water

This^ is awkward wording. Going for some more more concrete examples:
If a group believes a person must be a believer to enter into the New Covenant, then an infant baptism is considered invalid.
If a group believes a person must be baptized via immersion, then a baptism via other means considered invalid.
If a group believes a person must be via a certain wording/theological formula, then baptisms with other wordings are considered invalid.

iWater baptism does not save.

Infant baptism does not exist in the Bible.

Nothing but immersion is in the Bible.

There is no Biblical formula.

no baptism into a church.

This is something I tried to ask my mom about. I was baptised as a baby, is it all I need? I don't want to put Jesus back on the cross, I just want the salvation, cleansing, filled with the spirit.. my faith in Him is strong, my repentence true.

Wasn't sure where to put this, please move if it's in the wrong forum. Ty

No. Rebaptism is not necessary and according to the Bible is actually a sin. God was there when you were baptized so spend your energy loving others. I got rebapatized for the same reason - infant baptism, but now I regret it

The answer is simply no, there is no need for water baptism.

Acts 19:1-6 KJV
[1] And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, [2] He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. [3] And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. [4] Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. [5] When they heard this , they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. [6] And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

Tecarta BibleAs you can see these men had received water baptism but had not received the Holy Ghost. It was apon the hearing of the word through the apostle Paul(a true host of the Holy Spirt) and the laying on of hands they received. As Dave said rest your mind. And study, God does all the work. So you can rest in his total righteousness.

God bless you

What does God say to your heart?

God says, child you are forgiven, jump in!!

My mom is 77, I turned 60 last month. She is moving here in July. I tithe to my study chuch which is 600 miles away, so baptism would take some arrangements. I would love to take my mom with me, but her disapproval would ruin it for me. (1200 miles of being yelled at)

I am going to check the Missionary Church near me. Perhaps they would consider things and bless me with baptism. If not, I know someone that performs them for a local church. Maybe she would.

Then of course, I guess I couldn't tell her. That is so sad :(

Why do you regret it?

I really need to rethink this. If infant baptism is good, I'm good. Then why do I doubt myself?

Ah, and the baptisms of spirit and fire, what about them?

I will be keeping you in prayer. My parents are both long since gone from here, but my old pastor at 93, rejected by the ones who should perhaps love him the most, puts me at times in a similar situation. Do all that you can but always put God first before even those that you love so much. I would of course avoid speaking to your mother about it unless God really impressed on you that it was necessary and would be edifying to someone. Again I am praying that He lead you in His Way on this.

I don’t think we have the ability to control the Holy Spirit - pretty hard to create rules and doctrine around the wind....

. I believe that the Holy Spirit is there from day one of Baptism and gives people the gifts they need

Ahh, this is what I'm talking about. I feel the Holy Spirit yet I have not been (knowingly) baptised. It must be His as imo he has removed many sinful things from my life. On the other hand, I read baptism is a must do to receive it.. or is the baptism to wash away sins?

Again I am praying that He lead you in His Way on this.

Thank you. Your words always warm my heart. Blessings!! :)

no baptism into a church.

With like believers.. the churches here seem to think you are declaring belief in them not Jesus. They won't baptise unless you are joining THEIR church. Same with communion. Been denied in Lutheran and I'm baptised(infant) Lutheran. Wouldn't dare ask them for a baptism. Lol my mom comes to mind.

The Baptist church was very welcoming, but after 3 visits want you to sign a contract giving income info and a declaration of 10% tithe. A contract. I do not have a problem with the tithe, I have a problem with the fact that my 85 year old mother-in-law gets a visit once a month to get her money, when she can't attend anymore. We are to take care of widows and orphans. Anyways, I didn't even consider asking them about baptism.

Sorry to go on. I pray for peace of mind.
Thank you and many Blessings to you all.

I am not sure I understand you properly. If he/she gets baptized again no matter what it means to the OP it still is meaningless. The OP was already baptized and there is no need to again.

No, you have it backwards. She was not baptized as an infant as there is no such thing as infant baptism. She just got water poured over her. Baptism is real only if it is in accordance with God. It is not baptism just because someone or some church says it is.

Therefore she is not getting baptized again. She needs to be baptized.
