If you don't agree with a literal enterpretation on this subject, you must either have a non-literal enterpretation or all this going on is Willie saying he doesn't believe the word of God.
1 Corinthians 2:13 KJV
[13] Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

I don’t believe it’s an actual building, just as the church is not an actual building. It’s walls are salvation, and it’s gates made of praise

A church is a building that contains parts of the Church.

It is a a building unlike anything ever seen on the earth.

Our glorified flesh will live in a physical city.

Do you think we will just be spirits floating around?

"it's like this and like that and like this," CI; "city" has a symbolism too ok. Not saying that it won't be exactly as advertised either, only the right lexicon must be accessed imo. 12000 stadia means something, see

A city and Temple have definitions of purpose. Yet both are buildings.

12000 stadia means it is continent size and holds billions of mansions and Saints.

If you have not yet gouged out an eye, or cut off an offending hand, would you, yourself say you must not believe in the word of God? Or perhaps you have taken an unruly son to the elders to be stoned to death as the Bible says to do in Deuteronomy?

Did you know that Charles C. Ryrie (one of the most entrenched Literalists who ever lived) said he did not believe the locusts in Revelation were actually bugs. He even theorized the mention of them may have represented helicopters or even UFO's.

Eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire does not put an end to sin. They are still same people they were on the earth and still rejecting God.

As for the slagging of the earth, the Greek means God will end molecular forces holding atoms together and everything will fly releasing tremendous amounts of energy as fire.

Then he will remold the atoms into the new earth and heaven.

A basic return to the state of Genesis 1:1.

From Adam to the end of the earth there is never a time when humans didn't live on it.

Hi CoreIssue,

Just my speculation on the lake of fire. I could just the same argue that sinners cannot do anything, including suffering, without sin. But there are those mentions in Peter.

As I said, I liked brakelite's description. Do we know exactly what it will look like?

The elements, by a great burning, shall be loosed . . .

But as far as remolding the new heavens and earth from the pulverized remains of the old, I'm thinking about the passage which says that earth and heaven fled away, and there was no place found for them.

So I'm thinking that the new creation will be like the old, ex nihilo.

Much love!

Others believe locus our tanks. The shoot fire and can spin their turrents around and shoot sideways or backwards.

As for your eye hand, that is saying it is better to lose those than your everlasting life.

Charles C. RyrieWas a biblical literalists.

But the Greek words used do not mean ex nihilo.

I thank God that I have so many people I can read who have everything all figured out for me. Only problem is deciding which of you has it right. LOL

I believe I can point you to a couple of members who are able to tell you that.

What do you think of the idea that the New Jerusalem will be pyramid shaped? Any thoughts on that?

Are you referring to the use of kainos in that place?

Renewed heavens and earth, like that?

No.

Think of a cube shaped building with many floors.

Then add a spiral road from the ground to the top floor.

No roof.

Then channel a river down the middle of the ramp and plant trees along the river.

Don't ask me about issues like soil and pumping the water ran to run down. That is supernatural.

All I can add is every floor will be able to see the sky and throne of God.

I think, but cannot prove, as demonstrated by Christ just before his ascension, we will be able to walk through walls and move great distances instantly.

I do not believe there will be animals, but there might be.

Hi, I understand luo. But then there is no place found for them. Are you thinking that the elements are still somewhere waiting for reconstruction?

From Peter, the elements being combusted are loosed, I believe is how it goes. To me, this seems less solid an argument for retention of matter, while "no place found for them" seems a stronger argument for the anihilation of matter.

But I wouldn't be too dogmatic, like I said, just how I think of it, and I could just the same argue for a "resurrected creation". But I think that it will be a new creation that has never known nor ever will know the taint or stain of sin.

Much love!

I would think this passage clarifies the matter for us.
