Revelation 10:1 "And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire".

this is symbolic of the Holy Spirit coming down from heaven, supportive scripture, 1 Peter 1:12 "Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into".

And today they are unsealed.
I will tell you things not wrote. A collection of species has been going on for some time now but you knew this ?. The ark is about full. After a thousand years they will be planted on the new dirt (earth). Also thank you for your personal opinion. Again your doctrine has blinded you. Again you will not know John's spirit when he begins His words. They are as you see here. If you would know how thunder and lighting works in this world why is it so hard to understand the same from heaven. The end will come to you unaware. If you study as I have said you will get understanding being you don't here Christ you blind guides send lies thru out the world preventing any to come to Christ by your insane doctrines. The earth shakes and pukes its insides out, and to you its hum, hum, hum, the seas flow over its banks hum, hum hum, the watchers fly in the sky and its hum, hum, hum, a reality adjustment is needed. Besides this is not a debate when you understand Genesis we will talk.

And I suggest that anyone who does is adding to the words written in this book, and although you surely did not mean to ppl are being invited to sin here, and reveal their ignorance. Not that giving an opinion on a passage would be a sin, but see how much of the other we are getting? The determined declarations, "today it is unsealed,", "it's like this and like that," "I am here to save you!"
lol, yikes. Jesus.
don't get me wrong ok, I used to love doing this stuff myself, what you are maybe inadvertently doing? only I did it on purpose...
great way to split a congregation btw, should one need it, but I came to feel like a violent man, or at least I'll say proceed there with caution

I am sure there are different views, but we can sometime get some nuggets out of them.
'And I saw another mighty angel
.. come down from heaven,
.... clothed with a cloud:
...... and a rainbow was upon his head,
........ and his face was as it were the sun,
.......... and his feet as pillars of fire:
And he had in his hand a little book open:
.. and he set his right foot upon the sea,
.... and his left foot on the earth,'

(Revelation 10:1-2)

Hello @Bible_Gazer,

Thank you for your questions. I hope you are still open to other thoughts. :)
Looking at question one:- * Q1. who is the mighty angel, his feet on the sea and the earth ?

* First of all I believe that this is just what the Bible says it is, 'An Angel', a mighty angel.

* This is described as 'another' angel, so we have to look for the other which is spoken of prior to it. This is found in Revelation 9:13:- 'And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God.' This angel (in 9:13) sounded the sixth of seven trumpets: the effects and consequences of which are the context in which this 'other' mighty angel (of 10:1-2) is now seen.

* This description is full of majesty. The
'cloud' is a token of great dignity, and is used elsewhere in Scripture in relation to Divine movements (e.g., Psa.18:11; Isa.19:1).

* He comes, '
down from heaven': and the 'book' in his hand is opened.

'And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth:
.. and when he had cried,
.... seven thunders uttered their voices.
And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices,
.. I was about to write:
.... and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me,

...... "Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered,
........ and write them not."

And the angel which I saw
.. stand upon the sea and upon the earth
.... lifted up his hand to heaven,
...... And sware by Him that liveth for ever and ever,
........ Who created heaven,
.......... and the things that therein are,
............ and the earth,
.............. and the things that therein are,
............... and the sea,
................. and the things which are therein,
that there should be time no longer:'

(Revelation 10:3-6)

* Michael is the mighty angel which 'standeth' for the children of Israel (Dan.12:1), and he is called 'Michael your prince'. Whether this is he, I don't know, but it could well be.

* The setting of the angels feet, one on the sea and the other on the land, is the act of taking possession of both, or the formal expression of the intention to do so. In Deuteronomy 11:24, it is said to Israel for example,
'Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours:'

* You ask about 'time no longer':- It means that there is no more time left before the seventh angel shall sound his trumpet, and Divine vengeance will be poured out in response to the cry of the martyrs blood which cried out to God in Revelation 6:10, saying, 'How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?'

" That has to be all for the moment, for to consider all the imagery, and the context of this Angel's appearance, and what he says will take closer study that I am capable of at this moment in time.

* I hope you will continue to 'Gaze', @Bible_Gazer, and that your gazing will bring you joy, and wonder, at the glory of God, and of His Christ.

Praise God!

In Christ Jesus
Chris

I am sure there is different views, but we can sometime get some nuggets out of them.
  1. The identity as an "angel" simply refers to the fact that John received what he saw by vision, in "likeness." That likeness is of the only One who can be defined as having one foot on the land and one on the sea, i.e., having walked the earth and the heavens: Jesus Christ, the Son. The "rainbow" is a reference to the (covenant) promises of God coming to fruition.
  2. The "little book" refers to the final "revelation" of God to John. Being "bitter sweet" should be a warning, that just as John was, we also should be expecting the final truth of "all truth" promised by Christ to at first not be to our liking, but good in the end, i.e., not what we expect or think.
  3. The "seven thunders message" is that bitter sweet surprise. It is unsealed at the time of the end...which is now unsealed.
  4. "The mystery of God" is that same bitter sweet reality revealed.
  5. "Time no longer" is the message. But it does not just mean that time is coming to a close, or to the end. It is also the revelation of the reality of time itself, i.e., the findings of Einstein foretold by God to John. Knowledge has been increased.
  6. Good question. The sixth trumpet is the decree going out. The seventh is the enactment: "a time, times, and half a time." Revelation 10 marks the beginning of the end of the "times."

I am sure there is different views, but we can sometime get some nuggets out of them.

Having never really given it much thought I thought I’d study a bit and see if I could offer some possibilities. The following are only possibilities and opinions.

Revelation 10

1. Who is the mighty angel, his feet on the sea and the earth ?

Rev. 10:1 – “And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:

I think it may be Jesus. As stated the face was too bright to be recognizable but check out these two verses which are both descriptive of various aspects of Jesus, imo.

Ez. 1:28 – “As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.”

Rev. 1:15 – “And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.”

2. What is the little book ? Sweet and bitter.

Rev. 10:2 – “And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth.”

When I think of sweet and bitter I think of good news and bad news. One of the definitions of bitter in the dictionary is: “causing physical or mental pain and discomfort” so at first what is in the little book is good news, sweet to hear and taste but that is followed by heartbreaking bad news which causes bitterness and anguish. What could cause something like that? The answer may be tied closely with your 4th question. (4. The mystery of God when is it to be finished? The good news is that the mystery of God is finished! What is this mystery?

Eph. 3:4-6 – “Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) 5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; 6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel.” The next question could be why is the book little? I think the answer could be found in this verse: Matt. 7:14 – “Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”

So, my opinion is that the little book is a smaller version of the Book of Life containing the names of all the gentile Christians from the beginning to the end. I think the bad news is that the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled, no more shall be saved, the mystery of salvation being offered to the gentiles is done! When you consider all those left who will be eternally lost, you get a realization that can bring heartbreak, bitterness and despair. This also answers question (5. Time no longer? What is this about ? The door of salvation for the gentiles is done for this age.

Further identifying the angel as possibly being Jesus is this verse that is similar to

Rev. 10:5-6 – “And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, 6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer.”

Dan. 12:7 – “And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.” I think it possible that the “man” in Daniel could have been Christ.

3. What is the seven thunders message? Yes it is sealed, but will it ever be opened, if so, when ?

I don’t know and I don’t think anyone else does either. I do believe that in God’s timing at some point in time of the latter days that the understanding of what the seven thunders said will come to many by the Holy Spirit.

Another possibility to Jesus being the identity of vs. 1 comes from vss. 8-10. The word “angel” is used but it could also have been translated as “messenger”. If we accept that as a possibility than these two verses might come into play. Mal. 3:1b – “…and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts.

1 John 3:11 – “For this is the message (commandment) that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.”

6. How does Revelation 10 fit in between the 6th and 7th trumpet time frame, even before the 2 witnesses Rev.11?

Instead of asking this as a question, change it into a statement: Revelation 10 fits in between the 6th and 7th trumpet time frame. How is yet to be determined.

* He comes, '
down from heaven': and the 'book' in his hand is opened.

Chris

Thanks Charity
I am opened for any good nuggets and understanding other different views on this.
I found some good thoughts in what you wrote.
Also gleaning through the different thoughts from what others have given.

Thanks Scott
For now I lean toward your first and second statements.

it seem if we read it this way:
That the 7 thunders will be revealed in those days of the 7 trumpet being blown.
Right now to some its a mystery.
What is to be finished, is the 7 thunders part of it, in that mystery ?

Revelation 10:7 (KJV)
7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound,
the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

Good thoughts in here. I will consider some of it.
