Right , that post was helpful- I agree with what you have said. I am not entirely sure I get what the quote about the mirror really means, I have a friend who was always quoting it and I always seem to get a bit confused.
It's was a major turning point in my Christian life when I started to study it for myself in more depth and in context - but I am a few years behind you !

Imho, it's The WORD that reflects the true soul/self of the reader? If we are all indeed Christ followers, scripture will be understood...as the Spirit gives.
Sry, off topic. Oh gosh, I'm gonna get banned...this is not the 1st time, lol.

It's like looking in the mirror. You see a reflection of yourself in the world around you.

The Bible gives you a mirror reflection of yourself in the framework of the world.

Even then we still do not see ourselves or the world clearly. Our humanity gets in the way.
Never heard it explained like that - thank you

Hmm.... this thread started in my OP with a song by the fragrant Sarah Brightman proclaiming herself in Italian to be a stranger in her own city; suggested as a commentary on Brexit.

It seems that the thread has taken some interesting turns lately...

Well we have more debates going on at the moment, and more voting in the House of Commons in about two hours. Four options for the way forward are being put to the MPs - will it be ' no ' to all of them again, or maybe a ' yes ' .............. We now have a clock on sky news that shows how many days, hours and minutes are left before we could leave the EU with no deal - so that's going to be in our face when ever we watch the news .......... The clock is ticking !
I reckon we should leave with no deal, that would throw a spanner into the works !

I have a whiff of the idea of re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic...

The whole point of the Referendum was to present the position of the citizens and taxpayers. So first Theresa May's incompetent and unprincipled government hijacked the Referendum, and now Parliament is hijacking it with all this nonsense. There is nothing to debate. The people said they want out, and any government with integrity would have made that happen in no more than two weeks.

Since there was ample time for the government to prepare for an exit (in the event that that would be the vote) all the nitty-gritty details should have been worked out long before the Referendum. Which means that as soon as the Referendun was completed, the government would taken action THREE YEARS AGO.

But all the governments of Europe and the UK are globalist elitists (as was Obama's government) and they had no intention of doing what the voters wanted. Therefore the Queen should have made a Royal Decree for immediate action (if indeed she herself is not a globalist),

its a little bit more complicated than that- the referredum was to find out what the people wanted, the problem was that the whole campaign for leaving was based on many promises that were made falsely. , this is why many are wanting another referendum - Boris Johnson, and Nigel forage lied to everyone to reel People in to leave. To be honest Cameron only offered the vote in order to get in to power and he was convinced we would vote to stay. He then up and left, and so another leader had to come in and sort it all out. The article 50 had to be sorted, that would give us two years to set a deal. The Northern Ireland backstop is one of the big issues that held everything up ( made complicated because of the peace agreement for NI )
Since then it has just become a battle ground between labour and conservative, labour sabotaging every vote ( they now want a second referredum ) - 6million people have signed a petition for another vote.

Basically, the politicians are up to their necks in commitments to big business and don't want to leave the EU, despite the referendum result.

No I am not sure it is completely for those reasons. Corbyn wants to be the next prime minister, he wants labour in power. So , if he opposes everything Thereasa May offers it will bring her down and force a general election, which is what has happened. Now he knows he has got that, he has now fallen in line with wanting another referredum to reel in all the voters who also want one - so it looks as if he is on there side !

Apparently this no vote helps Theresa May - but I will need to catch up with the news tomorrow to understand how
