Oh I agree there are always those who have their hand out and might be able bodied...and some those who are able bodied, don't have the sense of a box of rocks! Or, they are addicts too.

Sure.

Jesus said we would have the poor with us always.

Yes.

Who are we to say "who" is or is not in true need?

I gauge by a couple of other things Scripture says...

About taking care of ones own family.
About what defines a brother.
About giving cheerfully.
About giving for the Glory of God.

Our Nation broadly speaks of being a Giving Nation; But IMO the people on a whole are Divided into; being Compelled legally to give, a long line of takers, a long line of enablers, and a few who recognize a genuine need (opposed to a want) and genuinely are cheerful givers.

You mention Volunteering, which is IMO very admirable.
I guess I would say, we all have our WAYS of how we determine is our Choice to be Cheerful givers.

Yes, where I go, we (the volunteers) pretty much know who can and cannot be trusted, and that goes for the other volunteers as well as the clients! Yeah, pretty sad eh?

I agree.

There are also cameras all over and Don-he's the husband of the direct manager and is a whiz with computer stuff and anything electric...he's also one of the funniest guys I have ever met, lol.- is in his office with the live feeds so, it's all good :)

Thanks for sharing. :)

God Bless,

Good grief ...I had no idea that the Alert picked and chose what to show Alerts ON!! I never saw the thread that Pearl started today...until tonight..by accident... And there is a PAGE AND HALF of posts here on this thread which no one showed in my Alerts. And they go back to yesterday afternoon!! Yikes.
Anyone else having Alert problems?

I only came here because I wanted to say that @Frank Lee is not doing so well. Dave read out something on FaceBook from Frank.

Humm I just flipped to facebook ( Dave is out) and still couldnt find where Frank asked for prayer...I posted to him and asked after his lung ( the one that has the mass in it)

Hoping to post an update here when I get more news.

I'm sorry to hear about Frank. Let's pray and hope that it is just a rough patch from healing and nothing worse. ♥
And, I have missed Alerts at times, yes.

Okay here is Franks prayer request.

He told me in another post that because of the very high BP he has had a deadly headache for 4 days.. he went in and they got it down somewhat..

<

Hello all in the savior's name. I need your prayers. My BP has been through the roof for several days and I can't get to my doctor. Missed my meds reup appt and am now without my ineffective pain meds. Since they cut pain meds across the board millions are suffering including my wife and I.

I was in Hosp at Christmas due to poor breathing. They found a mass in my left lung and praise God it's not malignant but breathing often is short.

I have a large bone spur on my right upper humerus that gives Never ending pain. Also gout and peripheral neuropathy in my feet. Feel like they're on fire.

Costs so much for ER room and HP and just have Medicare.
Please pray for pain relief for wife and I. We're mid 70's.

Thanks and God bless Frank + Martha
. . >

He says he is worn out with the pain.

Thanks ..H

Poor Frank - it's horrible dealing with constant pain. My dad gets gout , without the other issues Frank has, and that's bad enough !

So do I...
Sorry to hear that- I cut beer/ shandy/ ginger beer out of his diet- he doesn't drink much but I found even one bottle seemed to trigger it off. So when he asks me to buy some I have to refuse, he gets it in his feet and it can make him immobile. There was something else I cut out as well, can't remember what though!
Certain foods trigger sometimes, but not always - I understand it can just flair up X

I hear red meat .
A alkaline diet helps gout....an acid diet triggers it....or so I’ve heard . @bbyrd009 May know for sure.

I agree, even though it is pretty obv self-inflicted. Frank could be pain-free in about 3 days, whenever he is ready, done it many times now. My prayer for Frank is that he change his mind, or bam keep with the palliatives if he prefers, I certainly understand

There was an item about it on Granada news one night. It seems there are areas that are called food deserts because they don't have affordable food shops just expensive local independents. But lot of the people there are on tight budgets and have to walk miles to get affordable food for their kids and the big supermarkets are so far away. So the idea of a food pantry is a bit like a foodbank but they pay a small fee for membership and can buy what they need nearer to home at prices they can afford. How has it come to this in our country in the 21st century? Unbelievable.
Maybe post-Brexit there will be more of this kind of thing?

I just had a nice email from @Willie T ‘a wife.

Willie had knee replacement surgery and in loads of pain , and won’t be posting but sends all his best to us all. She says he hasn’t abandoned us. :)

I wish he had told us.. then we could have prayed ahead of time.
That’s a man for you. LOL

At least the surgery is behind him, just the healing time now. x

I felt a bit guilty today because I was on a thread and @pia and I were chattering!
Something I find very easy to do...you may have notice ;)
But I do know some people don't like it and find it distracting, and I totally understand.
Apologies to @Angelina for hijacking her weather thread this morning.
I just like to know members "as people" and not just as avatars . And, on the flip side, many I know like to stay private and hidden, ( probably why they choose avatars to hide behind..cheers to @ScottA who is one of the brave ones. :D)

Anyway , because some of us are born chatter boxes , I wanted to start this thread for those who do like Fellowship ( @Miss Hepburn there's 'that word' again :) ) ...as well as enjoying good arguments and debates...and those who are maybe interested in each other... Here we have a little quiet place to share what we like...and it won't annoy anyone too much.. @Butterfly On this thread " anything goes". ;)
Many blessings...H
Yeah! Helen, how are you all this morning? after reading your post, just to find out that from VA, as I was told some time ago about my benefits with my dental work, come to find out when I called this morning, they said that my dental was not service connected, then I finally realized it was the same thing that my wife said from 3 different sources:D now I have to take another way through prayer but still to have dental work with family health.:) but I'm glad it is not a rush, Praise the Lord.

Blessings, Walter
