Question: As a Christian, are you under the law? I need to know your answer to best know how to help you
We are under grace, but the moral law is alive and well.

Are we free to serve another god?
Are we allowed to make images of God?
Are we allowed to murder, lie, covet, &c.?

If not to all the above, then we’re still obligated to the law.

Then what is your definition of "grace"? And how does it affect sin and the law?

The HS DID NOT indwell the 120. I have already showed that in acts 1 it is the apostles and ONLY the apostles promised the power of the Spirit in acts 1. Acts 1:11. Ye MEN OF GALILEE. This is not the 120.
The “they” in acts 2:1 refers to the nearest antecedent which is “apostles” in the last verse of chapter 1 . This was a letter and did not have chapters when it was written. So, you can throw all the “ifs” out there if you want but the facts are clear. The HS was promised the apostles in Jn 13-16 and again in acts 1. There were no others present during these encounters.
Acts 1:11 precedes Acts 1:15 chronologically; in other words, Acts 1:15 is closer to Acts 2:1-4 chronologically thus Acts 1:15 takes precedence for the events recorded in Acts 2:1-4.

Acts 1:15 indicates 120 dicsiples with the Apostles.

Acts 2:1-4 indicates the indwelling Holy Spirit upon the 120 of Acts 1:15.

The 120 mentioned in Acts 1:15 are truly the antecedent for "they" in Acts 2:1-4.

Again, THE 120 MENTIONED IN ACTS 1:15 ARE TRULY THE ANTECEDENT FOR "THEY" IN ACTS 2:1-4.

Your discipline of delusion is exposed for the fraudulent doctrine that it is!

By the way, Acts 1:11 indicates "men of Galilee", not just the Apostles. Keep in mind that Matthias and Joseph are linked with the Apostles from the beginning in Acts 1:21-23.

The "IF" logical statements prove that no matter which direction you go, CKNW3, you are proven to have twisted scripture!

The Truth is that the "you" mentioned in John chapters 13-17 indicate all of Lord Jesus' disciples in all time; therefore, when Lord Jesus said "you did not choose Me, but I chose you" (John 15:16), that means that anyone who claims to have chosen Jesus is doing the opposite of man's capability according to God Himself; therefore, a person claiming to "choose" Jesus - that person really opposes Jesus - that person has fashioned a false god to choose.

These remain true, accurate, legitimate, legal, and Godly:

- "The Righteous Sovereignty Of God Post" (in this thread)

- "The Audience Of Lord Jesus For John 14:16 And John 15:16 Are All Dicsiples In All Time Post" (in this thread)

- "Matthias And Joseph In Exhibit 7 With The Lord Jesus And The Apostles 'All the Time' Post" (in this thread)

- "The Logic Statement (IF/THEN) Eliminating Any Question Of The Audience For The Supper Recorded In John Chapters 13-17 Being All Disciples In All Time Post" (in this thread)

- "The Repentance Is From God Not Conjured Up In Man By Man Post" (in this thread)

- "The Biblical Definition of Disciple Includes More People Than The 12 Apostles Post" (in this thread)

The Wonderful Lord Jesus says "you did not choose Me, but I chose you" (John 15:16), and Jesus, Who is Lord, says "I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever" (John 14:16), and Jesus, my Lord and my God, speaks these things to all His sheep of all time, and He has chosen we believers and He has given us believers the Holy Spirit!

Grace is unmerited favor. How does it affect sin and the law? The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.[Romans 5:20-21]

And also My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.[1 John 2:1]

Prophecy tells us why the Messiah would come. Now that He has, what do you believe is the benefit to us regarding sin? Why did He come?

You mean so we wouldn't sin anymore? Your text: 1 John 2:1 Is that how you believe grace works?
Hello CharismaticLady,

SovereignGrace answered your first question multiple times in this thread (these are all from the previous page), such as:

- "Hebrews 10:26 no more sacrifice for practicing sin and 1 John 3 tells us that we who are saved, can't go on practicing sin, as His Spirit is within us Post"

"The Apostle Paul's Struggle With Recorded In Romans 7:14-25 Post"

"SovereignGrace's Admittance Of Sin Grievance Post"

And, SovereignGrace has answered your second question in this post:

"SovereignGrace Provides Grace Definition Post"

CharismaticLady, that should help you understand the Word of God for SovereignGrace quoted scripture again and again to you in appropriate context; on the other hand, you try to impose your interpretation on scripture. Let me provide you with evidence.

CharismaticLady, in your post number #569, you wrote "how God's word tells us that God views sin. Intention and knowledge are what makes a difference in sins to Him. There are sins unto death (willful sins of lawlessness), and sins NOT unto death (unintentional sins), unwittingly committed called trespasses" That, CharismaticLady, is a doctrine of man. First, the Apostle John wrote:

16 If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not [leading] to death, he shall ask and [God] will for him give life to those who commit sin not [leading] to death. There is a sin [leading] to death; I do not say that he should make request for this.
17 All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not [leading] to death.
(1 John 5:16-17)

The Apostle John did not describe the definition of either (1) "a sin not [leading] to death" nor the (2) "a sin [leading] to death"; on the other hand, you apply your interpretation.

The Apostle John spends time discussing lawlessness in First John, yet John did not apply lawlessness directly to the "[leading] to death" passage in 1 John 5:16-17.

Lord Jesus did address a certain sin with fearful consequences - specifically the consequence of eternal damnation. Lord Jesus said:

"But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven."
(Matthew 10:33)

Here is how a person can deny Jesus:

"unless you believe that I am, you will die in your sins."
(John 8:24)

When Jesus said "I am" in John 8:24, He also includes His exclusive dominion over the salvation of persons. Lord Jesus' dominion includes entrance into the Kingdom of God for the Word of God states:

"you did not choose Me, but I chose you"
(John 15:16)

Now, CharismaticLady, the implication of your posts is that you "accepted" or "chose" Jesus thus you claim to do something that God said you are incapable of doing; therefore, you chose some false god because Lord Jesus said that you cannot choose Him. That leaves you in dire trouble.

In the promise of the resurrection,
Kermos

So you think I am lost?

You are hardy lost to God sister! Of course God chooses specific people (such as the 12) for His purposes. Did it ever occur to some that God gives to Jesus those who made the wise CHOICE to follow Truth. God foreordained GENTILES to be His people as well as Jews. He Foreknew who would "choose this day whom you will serve" and God uses every one of us. To those who hate God and the things of God and reject the ONLY way TO God (Christ)...yes, I can certainly see these being used as "vessels of dishonor". Is our King not AWESOME enough to work around us sinners? He does not need to FORCE anybody. He gave us His word because He loves us recklessly!
A far as Law and the SIMPLE gospel is concerned, it stumps the wise in their own eyes. We have a NEW Covenant, and a NEW priesthood forever in the order of Melchizedek. The NC overshadows the old covenant that was made to Hebrews ONLY, gentiles were NEVER invited to the OC Law. Jesus raised the bar in many ways, yet he chiseled the big 10 down to two that, if followed diligently will NOT lead us into breaking ANY laws. Yet, if we do...we have an advocate ♥

That would also leave you in dire trouble, since you too had to respond to the Gospel, and obey the Gospel through repentance and faith. Every sinner comes to the Savior by an act of will, when the Gospel and the Holy Spirit convince and convict him/her. So if you failed to respond to the Gospel call (as have all Christians since Pentecost), you may be the one in dire straits.

Please note the exchange in this passage (Acts 2:36-38):

THE GOSPEL WAS PREACHED
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

SINNERS WERE CONVICTED
37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

SINNERS WERE TOLD TO DO SOMETHING
38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

So every Calvinist must ask himself if he did what Peter commanded according to what Christ commanded -- repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 20:21) Unless this takes place, no one is saved.

You still didn't answer my question. You said you sin, but don't willfully sin. When I asked you when was the last time someone made you sin, you said you couldn't remember. By deducing what you said, you said you willfully sinned when you sinned.
Which is it?
How do I sleep? I tuck myself under the covers and close my eyes. ;) Just kidding. I repent of them and know they're already under the blood of the Lamb.
Repenting daily at least lol. It is the more time in the Word, deeper grows the understanding, the closer then our walk, more sensitive to the Holy Spirit, then--the more sensitive we become to recognizing when we commit sins, & we can see the more subtle ways sins are committed we had not the ability to recognize before.

CNKW3,"
I get tired of this idea that God selects individuals for salvation. These are called the elect.

Biblical Christian's rejoice in God's electing love and mercy.Sorry it disturbs you so.
Do you hate the biblical God?
He has elected one nation from all nations.
He has elected one special Servant of the Lord.
He has elected every single believer to make up His church.
The question is, why do you hate God, His people, and His word?
Come down off your throne and bow before your Sovereign Lord and Master, stop your rebellion.
@CNKW3 Has GOT to be hating him some Abram then, since he was elected as an individual, and is a pattern of all those who are of faith! There are more of these incidents in Scripture but I'm not surprised carnal men hate this.

"But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, [even] to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God."
(John 1:12-13)

Well, Enoch111, that not by the will of man, nope. That's the Apostle John writing that it's by the will of God. You are in error.

Your argument of "Every sinner comes to the Savior by an act of will" (this appears to be you expousing your heretical belief of free will) is put to shame with these statements of the Lord Jesus Christ:

"you did not choose Me, but I chose you"
(John 15:16)

"Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."
(John 3:5-6)

"This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent."
(John 6:29)

"But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God."
(John 3:21)

This is Christian Truth, Enoch111, for Jesus Christ is the "Christ" in Christian. You try to call it Calvinist, but, in truth, I proclaim Christian Truth to you (John 14:6).

By the way, Enoch111, in Acts 2:37 "they were pierced to the heart" indicates God working in them! I realize that you used "pricked", but "pierced" is more accurate.

You conflate fruit with response. The righteousness in me is the Spirit of God; on the other hand, you claim the righteousness in you is your free will. Free will is death because the free will doctrine glorifies man which is an attempt to STEAL GOD'S GLORY!

And, @Nancy, since you "like" Enoch111's post about heresy, then both you and Enoch111 are in dire trouble!

Hear the Word of God cited above!

By God's grace, God chose me, and all glory goes to God for this blessed work of God's!!!
