I notice this so often on this site.
Question ...How do you know that your interpretation is right , and other people are wrong.

Yes, scripture is indeed true. But that doesn't mean that you , 100% are correct in how you read a thing.

I seems much more softer to say IMHO, "just in case" your understanding is not perfect. How many are already perfect!!! :)

"I seems much more softer to say IMHO, "just in case" your understanding is not perfect. How many are already perfect!!! :)"
<---Amen, and I would say nobody is perfect in this life. "Perfect" in Him, yes! If...we are complete in His love...IMHO ♥

Helen, I'm sure you believe, as I do, that God's Word has many facets. And, one of them - IMHO!!! :) - Could, maybe be that not every scripture verse is meant in the same way with every person, at any given time? Could the very same scripture mean different things to different Christians, depending on where they are in their walk? Of course, this is not to say that scripture is to be wrested out of context, just that we perceive the same scriptures in different ways depending where we are in our maturity, our growth? I think God metes out understanding in increments, according to our faith and willingness to "see". Maybe He only will give one just enough knowledge of His Word and, as they grow...they understand and view a scripture differently down the road? Sorry if I'm not getting my point across very well o_O :D.

@Nancy Yes I do and I agree.

In our personal lives I have found that God can spin a verse to us personally , be it edification, exhortation , or comfort. But that never changes the original meaning of the black print on white paper written to us all. x

Is the decision always just or Jesus as the one deciding?
Is the decision always the right one? Like when JC sends people to hell? Always? Like when your bad because it's in your nature naturally and your balanced?

Hi there.
Well we are free to disagree.
I still say that often it is not a cognitive choice.
As I was saying to him...it is often the lust of the BODY, which has its way, not always a choice of the heart. Think a about it..really.

King David on the roof top, did not choose to sin. " Oh I think I will sin against God"... No, he was listen not to his heart but an organ further down in his body.

He did not 'choose sin', he chose his self /his urges, his body fulfilment .
Are you not then excusing sin because it was David's body and therefore according to you out of his control and therefore not responsible? But if he was responsible, then he must have had a choice. When tempted, we all have a choice. Ignore the holy spirit or pray for help in time of need that our High Priest may succour us when tempted.

So what happens if you stay yourself?
God wants you to be yourself, but a better self after you turn to Christ. He does not want to take away your individuality but he wants you to be more like Jesus.

Sorry, I have only just sen this..not sure it showed up in my alerts.

I guess what I was trying to say was sin is not always a deliberate choice.
Case in point...a preacher friend of ours allowed himself to fall under depression.
His wife was a nag.
The group of preachers we flowed with did a preaching circuit. But some always went to teach the Body Groups in big cities which were good and generous givers.
Sam's heart was for the South American groups ...poor people with not anything much to give. ( he couldn't bring home chickens etc :) )

So his wife was jealous, angry and always mad at him for not going to the big cities in USA.
One time he came back from a South America trip...when he left the airport he could not face going home to her. He went to a bar. ( yes , a choice) he was depressed, He got drunk. He became suicidal after that. We took him in. I took away the gun he had, and I took away his pills.

My hubby and I talked with him for hours over days.

He finally left us ( Canada) and went to USA, he was an american.

He stayed in phone contact. We visited him in Denver...
He died some few years later. Destitute.

So, did Sam go out that morning to preach, come home and rationally decide/choose - "I think I will reject God and go and get drunk, go to a porn movie , and then die in the gutter, to show what I think of God."

Over to you brak.

( sorry it took me a long post to say it all.)

Bless you Helen

So what happens if you stay yourself?

God has never give man the choice of "staying yourself".

There has never been three choices, 1) mine , 2) God's 3) Satan's.

There has never been a black , white, and a grey.

God say "Choose, serve Me or serve Satan. "

If we are not serving God, then we are by default , serving the other.
