No, someone thought you were a smoker but you're not...
Oh pleeeeze F,
That someone KNOWS I'm not a smoker.
He just likes to kid around.

Actually, I DO like smoking a good pipe every now and then:

Don't you want to be just like her?
What does this image tell you about this woman?
Isn't it illegal to advertise cigarettes these days?

Funny, many want to argue the body=Temple verse but overlook this one in their strife to be right...

Romans 14:1-4 NASBS
[1] Now accept the one who is weak in faith, but not for the purpose of passing judgment on his opinions. [2] One person has faith that he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats vegetables only. [3] The one who eats is not to regard with contempt the one who does not eat, and the one who does not eat is not to judge the one who eats, for God has accepted him. [4] Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls; and he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
And how many things do people do that are harmful to the body?

Any overeaters? I'm not NOT asking for a show of hands.

Drive internal combustion propelled cars? Oh, the pollution of God's creation! Shall I get started on accepting electricity generated by atomic fission? What an ecological disaster!

Any sunbathers? Just looking for skin cancer on that one, right?

Who is the one who will make this distinctions? I think it's just the Holy Spirit personally with each one of us.

Much love!

Some ppl could play: "Let's moralize against bikinis!" (Fact 1: Some stringy one pieces show more than some more expansive two pieces; fact 2: Facial cancers occur irrespective of whether bikinis are worn.)

Once one gets into vague moralizing, there are no limits to the flights of fancy that can take over from logic. Smoking is just such a subject which seems to evoke hyperbole, not that I remotely recommend or defend it.

So you waste your time posting NOTHING?
Please don't assume you know anything about me.
Thanks.
Sorry, but if I recall, you challenged my position first. I'm not so rude as to ignore a challenge directed at me. :)

I think the problem goes deeper, into a certain judgmentalism, where one person dictates to another what behavior, other that what is specified in Scripture, is acceptable and not acceptable to God.

Much love!

Your post 93 was clearly aimed at me.
I said nothing to warrant your reply.
When I asked you about it...you pretty much said
if the shoe fits, wear it.

This is the first time I've ever spoken to you.
I'm sorry that you misunderstood everything I said...
but you also should not have assumed anything.
Asking is nice.

I agree with you.
But I also need to say that Paul said not to get drunk with anything.
Galatians 5:21 and others

This would include anything that changes our character or causes us to become addicted and face many problems. After all, God's word is meant to protect us from this world.

So, this is seriously what I think about smoking.
It's CAN BE a sin.
If I smoke a cigarette every now and then...have a glass of wine with my mean...even have a glass of liquore -- I see nothing wrong with this.

When the above changes my life for the worse,,,then I can see that it could be called sin because it gives satan the glory instead of God. Satan loves to see us miserable.

If smoking can cause mouth and lung and throat cancer...doesn't satan relish this?
§Why give him the joy?

Sin means missing the mark in Greek.
So, what IS the mark?

To keep ourselves healthy...in body, mind and spirit.
We can't control many physical and mental things that happen to us.
But we can control a lot and it's been stated that the one action people can take right now to stop a lot of cancer is to stop smoking.

Do I sound like one of those judgemental persons?
Well, I'm NOT. I have my own sins to worry about.

93? Try post 66, where you first challenged me.
93 was addressed to whom it may concern. If it concerns you, respond accordingly. If not move on. You weren"t the first to use the Temple/Body argument.

Huh?
I don't challenge people,
I talk to them.
