Is this another ignorance laden thread that mocks election, ridicules others as if they cannot know they're elect?
Utter foolishness. Everybody wants to claim Romans 8:28, yet contextually it's to and for the elect.
All in Christ are elect, I don't struggle with it, I glory in God and Christ in it. Soli Deo Gloria!
"Utter foolishness" - how is it foolish to wonder what is Gods calling and who are the elect?
It would be foolish if you miss an important point which means ones eternal destiny is not with God but
to destruction. The real fool is the one who does not test themselves as Paul describes
5 Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you--unless, of course, you fail the test?
6 And I trust that you will discover that we have not failed the test.
7 Now we pray to God that you will not do anything wrong. Not that people will see that we have stood the test but that you will do what is right even though we may seem to have failed.
2 Cor 13
Paul was anxious as to the gospel he was preaching, how correct it was so went to Jerusalem to get it checked.
Equally Paul says he pushes onward to the calling of Christ so that he might for fail and it all be in vain.
These are not words of certainty, but words of change, direction and growth.
Peter underlines the danger of falling and says if you follow brotherly love you will never fall.
10 For if you do these things, you will never fall.
2 Peter 1
So rather than foolishness, the wise man counts the cost, charts the route and then walks it.
God bless you
