I always wonder why so few people think of what happened at Mount Sinai when the trumped waxed louder and louder and Moses went up into a cloud.
Did Moses go up a physical mountain or a spiritual mountain? The Torah says Israel was "under" the mountain -- not "beside" but "under."
Deuteronomy 4:11 And ye came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness.
The seventy elders went up part of the way; and the Jews say that what they saw wasn't exactly right. While gifted with more prophetic sight than most of Israel, they were still not seeing entirely correctly. Joshua went up higher than they did, but only Moses went all the way up into the "cloud."
I think that was a spiritual mountain. Moses was caught up and he was surely changed. I read the story about Mount Moriah as a spiritual mountain too. No "trumpet" is mentioned and no "cloud" but there is still reason to think it wasn't a physical mountain. The two young men with Abraham and Isaac did not go up the mountain. I don't they could have if they had tried. The ram they met? The Jews say this ram existed before Eden was fashioned. I believe that.
