It's amazing how you can read people's hearts.
MY Bible says that only GOD can do that (1 Kings 8:39).

Maybe you should let him answer . . .

And yet, it seems that you have read his heart as being the opposite of the way that I have read it.

At least, the way I am reading his heart, I am not being judgmental...

And also, I am reading his words more than his heart.

He himself is saying that sex is not the issue; but that rather it is the possibility of having or not having a family.

The following verses are warnings to born again CHRISTIANS not to falll back into a life of willful sin
Such verses are intended to produce the fear of the LORD in man.

But it is clear that the fear of the LORD will keep a man from falling away (Jeremiah 32:38-40, Psalms 19:9).

And also, the following verses show clearly that once a man is truly saved, he will always be saved:

Jhn 5:24, Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Here, the person who believes shall not come into condemnation. This is absolute terminology concerning the everlastingness of salvation. Also, the person is said to have everlasting life. If that life can come to an end, then it is not everlasting.

Jhn 6:47, Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

Again, if life can come to an end, it is not everlasting.

Jhn 10:27, My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Jhn 10:28, And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
Jhn 10:29, My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
Jhn 10:30, I and my Father are one.

Here, there is a three-fold assurance: 1) they have eternal life. 2) they shall never perish. And, 3) No one can snatch them out of God's hand.

To which some reply, "but they can leave themselves."

To which I reply, that if they have the fear of the LORD (which is everlasting, Psalms 19:9), they shall not depart from Him (Jeremiah 32:38-40).

Contrasting verses, and/or surrounding context never nullify the plain meaning of what you can exegete out of any singular verse.

This is a solid rule of biblical hermeneutics.

That's not what he was saying at all. He was talking about the priest's frustration at not being able to have sex.
You're simply taking a position because I am Catholic - and you're an anti-Catholic . . .

No; he was specifically talking about the lack of a priest's ability to be able to procreate and raise a family...

Why don't we ask him...

You should not generalize on this point. Every man is a man, an individual, including even the Catholic priests of whom I guess you have never personally known one. I have!

While I am not been a practicing Catholic for more than 50 years [for reasons not under discussion here], I still recall very well and favorably through my pre-teen and teenaged years two priests who guided me into God's Way. Many people want to point out the ones who have strayed from God and misled youngsters but there really have been and are some such as the two I remember who really love God.

Without them perhaps God would have found another way for me, but because they were there and available and used by Him, I am here and serving God. I can never deny that. God will feed the hungry by means of those who make themselves available for that purpose.

"Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled." Matt 5:6
I was raised Catholic and did catechism, told my sins to the priest, said the rosary etc.
I know quite a bit about it too.

And you fail to understand yet again.

ALL of the verse you are presenting are bot guarantees that we WILL always be faithful. They are words of encouragement that we CAN be faithful - IF we would simply cooperate with God's grace at ALL times.

Unfortunately, as we are told in Scripture (1 John 1:8, Rom. 7:15-15, Gal. 2:11) - we stumble.
The fact that you refuse to see this speaks VOLUMES about your confusion.

And you STILL haven't shown me how Christ making booze AND drinking it wasn't sinful - but a Catholic priest having a cigar IS sinful.
Gee - I wonder why that is??

Your desperate lies are DEAD in the water . . .
Jesus Christ did not make rotten grapes.

Jesus made fresh grapes in which folks had well enjoyed.

No staggering or garbage talk by Jesus’ friends.

Carnal Christians make and give carnal folks rotten grapes

Judging by your posts - you know absolutely nothing about the Catholic faith.
EVERY single thing you've said so far has been wrong.

Ummmmmm, "remit" and "forgive" mean the SAME thing, Einstein . . .

In John 20:21-23, Jesus (who is God) breathes on the Apostles as he is giving them the power to FORGIVE sins:
(Jesus) said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you."
And when he had said this,
he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the holy Spirit. Whose sins YOU FORGIVE are forgiven them, and whose sins YOU RETAIN are retained."

The fact that Jesus breathed on the Apostles when entrusted them with this ministry is highly significant because he doesn’t do this anywhere else in the New Testament. In fact, there are only two times in ALL of Scripture where God breathes on man:

The first is when he breathed life into Adam.
The second is here in John’s Gospel when he is giving them the power to forgive or retain sins.

Finally - my linguistigally-bankrupt friend - the Greek word used in this passage for "forgive" is the SAME word we see all over the NT about the forgiveness of sins, "Aphiemi".
This word means:
To send away, forgive, to send forth, yield up, to expire, to let go, give up a debt, to remit.

Now - please properly exegete John 20:21-23 in context . . .
Why don’t Catholics remit sins like the Apostles did in Acts 2:38, but rather use a man in a black box to remit them?
Oh, and the vail between the priest and the sinner in the black box is supposed to represent the priest of the OT coming to the Holy of Holies?
The priest then represents Christ?
Super creepy.

Jesus Christ did not make rotten grapes.

Jesus made fresh grapes in which folks had well enjoyed.

No staggering or garbage talk by Jesus’ friends.

Carnal Christians make and give carnal folks rotten grapes
Jesus made alcoholic wine - period.
This is evident by the story of the Wedding at Cana itself.

John 2:10 states, “Every man serves the good wine first; and when men have drunk freely, then the poor wine; but you have kept the good wine until now.”
This is proof positive that the wine Jesus made was ALCOHOL. People don't drink grape juice until they've "had their fill" and are unable to tell bad grape juice from good if they are completely sober.

In Luke 7:34, Jesus says, "The Son of Man has come eating and drinking; and you say, ‘Behold, a glutton and a drunkard’”
Another proof that Jesus DRANK alcohol or He wouldn't have referred to Himself as a "drunkard" in the eyes of the Pharisees.

The fact is that crushed grapes begin to ferment immediately affter the grapes are crushed. The chemical process that halts fermentation was only invented in the 1920's by the Welch's Company, in response to the law of Prohibition. This means that grape juice as a product has only been around for less than 100 years. Consequently, when wine is spoken of in Scripture – it is truly wine and not grape juice.

Hundreds of gallons of grape juice sitting in jars in the desert sun do not remain grape juice.
Put on your Thinking Cap, junior and use your common sense . . .
