Well I must admit that I never thought this would actually take place, but in a few hours we will be leaving the EU - some will celebrate, others will be depressed........ I think I will be in the first group.
I am sure the transition will bring a few hiccups , and I am sure the press will manipulate and endeavour to stir the pot. The simple truth is that it is only the EU we are leaving, we will still be ' in Europe ' ..............
New beginnings , or perhaps just going back to how it was 47 years ago ......
So @Pearl , @charity - will you be celebrating or feeling sad tonight ?

I still remember clearly how I felt on the day they we joined the EU.
Totally betrayed by 'the powers that be' :(

I still remember how we could no longer buy Coxes Orange Pippin apples and many other things that they stopped after we joined.

Not that I am stupid enough to believe that we can turn the clock back 47 yrs and have the England that we once knew, back again..

Id like the England of the fairy tale villages in the earlier seasons of
"Midsomer Murders" - roses around the doors, bees buzzing on honeysuckle and lavender. But that wont happen :D.
I'd like an England of unlatched back doors, children safely playing in the parks unsupervised...

@Cooper You may also have comments here ? :)
But yes

And also @Mike Waters -and any other ' Brits ' on the forum xx

Helen, the lovely idyllic villages in midsomer murders aren't exactly nice places are they ( well if you consider how many people get killed in them during the 16+series ! Lol )
I know what you mean though, and some of those villages do still exist over here - especially in Kent, Devon, Cornwall and some in Sussex as well - I am sure there are many up North as well.

I cannot really remember much about joining the EU - I would have been a young teenager, and one that was not really in tune with politics or Europe. I cannot remember my mum or dads views, although my dad now seems to be in favour of us leaving. Not sure my brother is pleased - he hates the EU , but as he lives in Germany it did make life easier with the U.K. Being part of it.

The only thing that does concern me a little bit- over the last three months Brexit seems to have not dominated the news, and after the election the parties suddenly seemed to ' not argue ' as much about it. Was that acceptance of the inevitable or were ' the powers that be ' cooking up something new !
It's just the sudden turn around that slightly concerned me - but I am not sure why !

Those days are not coming back. But it's not enough for England to leave the EU. Unless there is a total house cleaning and all the stupid *progressive* ideas are tossed out (including the protection of terrorists and the persecution of conservatives), England will remain mired in its disastrous policies. And all the anti-Trumpers need to wake up and give Mr. Trump the respect he deserves.

And someone will need to give Boris a haircut, and some instructions on proper grooming. The BBC just cut 450 jobs, so there must be a good reason. Also, BBC says "Most EU laws will continue to be in force - including the free movement of people - until 31 December, when the transition period comes to an end". So the question must be asked "Why a transition period of almost one year when one month would suffice?" Sounds like a good way to sabotage the deal.

The BBC is a corrupt organisation Enoch - I wish they would shut it all down !
Lol - agree about Boris needing a haircut ect !
As to the politics , well you base it on your own parties - it's different here, you define one party as being ' fir Christian values ' and the other as being against '
Well over here the conservatives are very much for the wealthy and labour for the working classes - although the lines have become muddy over the years.
Personally I have little faith in either party at the moment - but accept that Boris is in power- cant quite make up my mind about him yet ! ( but disliked Corbyn )
I do not see why we have to like Trump - I accept he is your president, and do not disagree with everything about what he does - especially recently. There does need to be mutual respect because as countries we are allies- and I definitely think there has been disrespect when he has visited, which have not agreed with. However it doesn mean that I have to personally like everything about him just because you do x

There was a woman on the news this evening who said what Ray and I have been saying for a long time: When we voted in 1973 we voted only to join the Common Market as they called it, and over the years the politicians sneaked the other stuff past us so that we weren't just part of a common market but were being governed from Brussels.

Maybe one day the peope will wake up and realize that the brutish government will actually get to rule over the british people, and not told what to do by someone elses government, but "convenience" is a nasty tool.

Ok I remember it being called the common market - so was there a European Union back then ? R

As I understood it, it was an agreement for free trade and only that.

That's interesting, and quite an eye opener as to how things progressed without many even noticing - but then why am I surprised by that now that I am more aware of the manipulations that continuously happen.

That was the agenda to begin with. That's called the Camel Entering Your Tent Conspiracy. A few inches at a time.

Yes, I know - they were saying tonight that one option would be to ask for an extension of the year.........I thought ' here we go again ' !!

I do not see why we have to like Trump...
The issue is why did the Brits start hating Trump (just like the unhinged Leftists in America)? And why did they tolerate Muslim Sadiq Khan's attacks on Trump, while he allowed his Islamist terrorists free rein in England?

I don't recall anyone on this side of the pond mocking Theresa May (even though she was a total disaster, undermined Brexit purposely, and should never have been given that position).

Hello Rita,

My husband and I have just toasted to our grandchildren's future in this changing world, as the UK comes out of the EU. I had to toast it with a glass of elderflower presse :). It is now 11.35pm, so we are well and truly 'out'.

With arctic ice the size of the British Isles threatening to break away in the arctic, due to water warming, and a pandemic threatening, instability in the middle east, and Donald Trump's attempt at bringing peace to Israel bringing uproar among the Palestinians, Britain leaving the EU seems tame in comparison. o_O

Praise God! That He knows the end from the beginning, and we are in His hands.

Love to all,
In Christ Jesus

I wanted Britain to get her sovereignty back but God's sovereignty is more important and that's how I've been praying. I'm glad we're out though.

Donald Trump's attempt at bringing peace to Israel bringing uproar among the Palestinians...
The Palestinians have HATED every peace plan and REJECTED every peace plan since the very beginning. Their agenda is to keep the pot boiling constantly while Iran funnels money, men, and materials to Palestine, so that Israel can be attacked every day. The way to shut down the Palestinians would be to first shut down Iran's evil mullahs and ayatollahs. The people of Iran are fed up, but they need external support.

I dont think trump had a good reputation before he became president, to many it was a joke that he even got elected. So I think it was based on his past lifestyle, which didn't exactly earn him much respect.

Look at how the media acted in having a spac attack 24/7 about leaving the EU and then the bastards got the message loud and clear that the people of England wanted to leave.
The second Vote made the Media looked like a total goose and sadly we don't have real media anymore, because if we did we would of had a commentary on the media being so out of touch with the people, that would be a hot topic ! it would easy expose their masters and their cunning working against the people in fact.
The media were trying all that they could do, to try and force the people to believe that anyone who was wanting to be leaving the EU were idiots and morons, in fact they claimed that the public got it wrong on the first Vote, such people were cast as deplorable and all. the audacity and unmitigated gall of this Mob.

The Media has to be exposed for what it's been peddling, the dictating of the media is astounding and it's brainwashing technique is unrivalled. even Hitler was not that bold as this mob of bastards, I would dare say that is the case, as the media are in fact so disgustingly blatantly taking the people for a ride nowadays that I have had a gut full of them.

I am sick of such media peddling all their filth, not to mention that they are truly in fact Satanist who push so much sick and depraved filth on us Christians and not to mention bag our forefathers history no end.
Oh they are now all guilty of the most heinous crime of Sin nowadays "Homophobic" ! and the Sin of being truly Married as being united as man and wife for the upbringing of the family etc. that's all been undermined nowadays by the Satanist in their works, or demands, not to mention that the Churches have all given up to the pressures of such worldly Satanic thugs demands.

The word Homophobic has changed vastly under the influence of social Marxism perspective. it's now to do with anyone who does not totally support queers in every way, not to mention never to question such at all, because any such will be dealt with by total malice on their behalf being totally justified nowadays, like a pack mentality. what degenerates !
We now have been introduced to taboo subjects nowadays  how backwards can you get ! only backward blighted people have things that are taboo, such is to do with ignorance.

We only ever had one vote about Europe- and it was only just over half of us that wanted out - so it wasnt the wish of everyone - but I totally agree with you about the media Reggie x
