But we are not to take the blessing of Mary beyond what it was and call her, for example, the "mother of God".

Truly, Jesus was and is God, and Mary was His mother; however, she was not the mother of His Deity but of His humanity. It was only God the Father who begat His Deity; and we need to get that straight.

Wrong, Acts 2:38 is how to be saved.

I was in catechism in the late 60's and they plopped us in front of a statue of Mary and taught us the "hail Mary full of grace...." prayer.
We were trained to kneel in front of "her" and pray the rosary.

What I would like to see is a forum with a mandatory link in the profile leading to a real, physical church, not an internet community. That way people can be reported to their pastors. Sadly, angry brats never mention the name of that pot of soup they bought with their heritage. They hide behind a wall of anonymity while throwing darts and rocks at Catholics. It often boils down to a traumatic childhood. In the final analysis, venomous anti-Catholicism is rooted in self-hatred.

And the fact is that neither of you has that Authority. Christ's Church was being called "The Catholic Church" towards the ends of the First century.
Time for another Bible and Linguistics lesson . . .

Acts 9:31 talks about how the Early Church grew throughout the region. The language used here describes the Catholic Church:
“Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria experienced peace and thus was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and in the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, the church increased in numbers.”

According to Strong’s Greek Concordance – which is used by Protestants AND Catholics alike – the verse is translated as:
“The true Church throughout all Judea . . .”

Here is the phrase in Greek:
η μεν ουν εκκλησια καθ ολης της ιουδαιας

The Catholic Church gets its name from the GREEK for “according to the whole” and “universal” - εκκλησια καθ ολης, which is pronounced “katah-holos”.

Εκκλησια (ekklesia) - A gathering of citizens called out from their homes into some public place, an assembly; CHURCH
καθ (katah) - Through out, according to
ολης (holos) - All, whole, completely
"Kata-holos" = CATHOLIC.

I have seen that in some ex RC just ranting and raving totally obsessed with hatred of the RCC, I have one bloke like this up the road, he wants to kill every RC and blow up the Vatican, if he could he would in a heart beat, he is a totally dictating type, you have to believe everything that he says is correct or he will start barking. you cant have an open conversation with him and he will just put forward cunning attempts in just to try and trap you all the time, because he is not honest. why do such ? all the time ! the problem is that he is so shallow, he has no real depth and the game play is played out and because as due to the shallowness you have to try to come down to his level of understanding and then he can trap you as to a misunderstanding on what he is talking about. you may think that you are on the same page but you are not at all, as his interpretation is something other again.
