When Tempted, Giving over to [Willful] Sin equates to Eternal Death, not Eternal Life.

Being circumcised of heart (Romans 2:28-29) is something that will put you under the law, so that you are a debtor to obey the whole law (Galatians 5:3-4). To be uncircumcised of heart means that you are not under the law and that Romans 3:10-18 does not apply to you, Romans 3:19.

What I am saying by this is that only the ones who admit their sin have any chance of overcoming it.

Galatians 3:10 tells us that you would have to obey the whole law if you think you will save yourself by keeping it and that therefore you are under the curse because you cannot keep the law, Galatians 6:13.

Only by bearing the fruit of the Spirit as the result of faith in Jesus and what He has done for you will suffice to enable you to live in such a manner that you will not violate the law over the fact that you are living by the Spirit.

What aren't you following? He said few find the narrow gate- which is salvation through him alone.
That is something I don't follow. Where did Jesus say he is the gate?

Not through good works or another god of our making.

We can do no good in ourselves. If I do a billion good deeds in my own strength, it's meaningless. If I do one good deed in him, it's worthy of reward.
Yes, we are responsible to use what he has entrusted to us wisely, but that isn't what saves us.
I think obedience is necessary in order for us to be saved. We may not be able to earn our way to salvation, but Jesus does expect obedience and some results from us.

John 15:2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Hebrews 6:8 But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.

The unprofitable servant is punished severely.

Matthew 25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

The servant who did not forgive others after he had been forgiven himself was handed over to the tormentors in Matthew 18.

Matthew 18:34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

Again, I do not willfully sin. You and others seem to have a problem with God's Word about this matter.

thats the key right there way to go brother !!

I would like to add if a Born again Christian willfully sins, they will be convicted so bad by the Holly spirit, the weight of the world will be on there shoulders until they repent. No one born again should be willfully sinning especially as you grow in CHrist.
Hi Dave,

I'm confused by your post . . .

Do you not willfully sin, or do you?

And what sin is not "willful"? I have a really difficulty imagining what that would be. Unless you mean walking on someone's grass that you didn't know there was a property line.

What is an "unwillful" sin?

Much love!

Leviticus 4:2
“Speak to the people of Israel, saying, If anyone sins unintentionally in any of the Lord's commandments about things not to be done, and does any one of them,
So . . . what sins in our lives Now are unwillful?

The assertion is made that we don't commit "willful sin". So I'm asking . . . what sins are not willful?

I think that we can choose to not commit ANY particular sin. What sins do we not choose to commit? Now, yo've mentioned from Leviticus about unintentional sins. So then, if you collect sticks for your fire, but you don't realize it's the 7th day because you slept clean through the 6th day, that would be one, right?

So what examples of unintentional sins would you offer that we are not able to avoid?

But more to the point . . . willful sins? What example can you give of a sin that is not willful?

Much love!

In John 10:9
All who came before Me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9I am the gate. If anyone enters through Me, he will be saved. He will come in and go out and find pasture

killing someone in a car accident
Accidents aren't sinful, unless you were doing something sinful to cause the accident. But, sin is literally missing the mark of perfection. Since we all miss that mark, I say we all sin.

Thanks for finding that. I stand corrected. Now can you tell me why finding the gate is so difficult?

That would be an accident, not a sin, right?
Like when you ax head flies off and hits someone, but you meant no harm?

What if you were texting when the ax head flies off and hits someone ?

Please follow the whole thread.
I was telling to a post that maintains that in order to be saved you or I must be perfect.
My reply made no mention of not being repentant or any thing you raised, in short your reply was incorrect and unnecessary.
The only way you can be perfect is that you will see that you are a hopeless sinner first, in danger of the judgment, with no hope of ever being perfect, which is an absolute requirement to enter the kingdom of God.

Then the good news of the gospel will have real meaning, and the sinner will have a clear reason why Jesus died on the cross, and will turn to Christ with all his heart, and receive the perfect righteousness of Christ as a free gift. Then God will see him as totally perfect. Not his own perfection or any hope of self improvement, but Christ's perfection in the form of the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Repentance is a change of direction from ignoring Christ to turning fully to Him, and forsaking the sinful lifestyle is the narrow way to achieving perfection in Christ.
