I saw that on my news feed this morning. I wouldn't say that they were embarrassed but it was classified information never meant to be release to the public, so naturally the White House wants to find the leaker that broke the law. And that also puts the NYT and the journalist that assisted in the release in a legal grey area.
Was it satire? No, it was credible.
The White House should be embarrassed. If Trump knew about it and lied, that would mean he did nothing about the Russians putting a bounty on American lives. I don't want to believe that; but it sounds treasonous if he knew and did nothing. If the intelligence community knew about it and didn't tell Trump, why didn't they? Did they think Trump couldn't be trusted with the information? They withheld information from the President? That makes them look treasonous. If it wasn't discussed verbally, Trump still should have known about it since it was in a written briefing -- or doesn't he read those? It may put Trump or his security advisers in a "legal gray area." It looks like possible treason to me from someone.
Of course, Trump also retweeted a man yelling "White Power" and claimed he hadn't heard it. What are we left with, a President who operates with three senses: Touch, taste and smell?
How odd can things get if the New York Times is better briefed than our President? Congress now wants to know about it. Why was the New York Times better informed than Congress?
Let's get serious. Trump has hired backstabbing people with dubious records. It shouldn't surprize anyone if they leak things to the media. This White House looks like a television show.
