@Truther Great reason, right? Biblical doctrine is so often overlooked...
Yes.

Forum debaters are the cream of the crop and are akin to the Bereans.

Most Christians are too insecure to put their beliefs on the table to be picked at.

It is noble for anyone with a belief to show their hand, in my opinion.

Well, our citizenship is in heaven, and we are sitted with Christ in the heavenlies... and we are one in Spirit -
I've traveled a bit in the past, and everywhere I went, whenever I met a true follower of Jesus, even before we talked, we were already one in Spirit, and we 'knew' that .... by the Spirit God placed within us. If anything was asked of us, of me or of them, and we had it, it was granted. The same one-ness (echad - one in Spirit, one in heart, One Lord Jesus), as in NT and all Ekklesia around the world.
Yes. I met some girls from ywam once, an
"Perfect" in English is almost never the same as in Scripture.
1 Peter 1:16 ‘...Be holy, for I am holy.”

It was wesley who noticed that...oh no I said his name :(
I was only referring to those that I had encountered 'during my lifetime'.
I would needed to have lived for 300 years to have embraced John Wesley in my overview.
Whatever sought of mischief must the 1 John 1:8 self excusing sinners to whom he referred, have been getting up to?

But Joseph, the Bible translations you quote are not always infallible and sadly do lead many astray because of those errors.
Likewise,
the Bible translations you quote are not always infallible and sadly do lead many astray because of those errors.

This is nothing new , there is nothing new under the sun ?

People have been being deceived ever since someone told them not to read the Bible themselves, to only accept the (evil) power interpretation of Scripture instead of obeying God and instead of trusting God.

@Helen, I will look for the good, known, proven , references online, or if not online elsewhere, that show clearly by God's Revelation of His Word, through Jesus, how everyone in Christ Jesus is to do just as I posted (almost or actually only quotes from Scripture)....
The false church has taught wrong for so long, few ever find out.

Hey Joseph. Hope all is well with you today.

The thing is , it cant be done...never has since Eden.

Just think. A young Christian asks about faith. You speak bible speak " Faith is the substance of things hoped for." He walks away with no idea at all what faith is. But hey, you answered Him. You conscious is clear.

If this be the case then why did God zap Phillip to where the confused Ethiopian Eunuch was , so that Phillip could unveil ( with words) to him what the scriptures were saying.

Why do preachers preach? If all they need to do is read or quote the bible?

We had a friend once who spoke "chapter and verse".
Like saying "Gen 3:3" ( Let there be light) When he could have said " Can you turn on the light please". Clever, but it gets annoying.
God gave us the gift of communication...and expression... Jesus Himself didn't always speak in bible quotes.

The night that the scales fell from my eyes and I "saw the Lord"...was because an old preacher was preaching on the prodigal son....and opened up Gods love by using his own words...suddenly "the lights went on for me...and, once blind, now I could see."

On the road to Emmaus Jesus drew near to the men walking and "opened up the scriptures to them concerning Himself. " ( and I bet there is a lot more in the OT about Him than we have dug out!! I would have loved to have been there.)

It is "the anointing (upon the word) which breaks the yoke " ....
The dead letter without the anointing of the Holy Spirit does not bring forth life.

Just my two cents

Blessings...H

Even Jesus did not do much in the towns that were too much unbelief.

Not quite sure what this has to do with our conversation!! LOL

I just want to say that ( for the most part :)) I am glad that everyone is right here on this Site. It's the perfect size , great Moderation... glad I am here. :)

Those who believe and follow Jesus learn from Him, as He Says Clearly.
(remember though even the demons believe, and shudder in terror because they know their own judgment is soon to be executed - so also multitudes "believe", but not in faith nor obedience - and they have no joy nor peace all their lives - and they are told that's okay, you will (maybe) get a reward in the next life - and they are thus lied to until the day they die, and then it is too late )

So those who oppose Jesus Word, yes, as you posted: "They still do." ....

Sometimes, yes, but sometimes it seems some are more akin to the Pharisees of old more concerned with having it their own way than in encountering God's truth no matter what the cost. Do any of us always have it as right as God does?

That's sort of an unanswerable question in some ways - and seems most of the time to be an excuse not to be right, instead of always as much as possible be right, as God Accomplishes this...
Remember the Apostles could (and did ) say "I know of nothing against myself... " but that does not clear me before God who sees all - He is the One Who Sees All... and He is The Judge. ...

But we still always strive to obey Jesus when He tells us "Go and never sin again" ....
... lest your condition ends up (much) worse than before ...
