the Scribes and Pharisees who doubted and questioned Jesus. Are you better because you know the scriptures?
The Jews, and Jewish leaders, knew Scripture much better than he does, or most anyone else alive today.
The Jews for centuries have rejected the false myths and stories developed about Scripture and about God and about Jesus and about Mary, etc etc etc
because they have known Scripture better than those who deny Jesus.

Well you can question it but what's wrong with simple faith to believe? Jesus said we should come as children....
Does the Bible instruct us to have childlike faith? | GotQuestions.org
An excerpt from the link above...
Although faith is not mentioned in Matthew 18:1–5, we know that it isn’t just humility that ushers a person into heaven; it is faith in the Son of God. A humble, unpretentious faith could rightly be called a “childlike faith.” When Jesus wanted to bless the children, He said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it” (Mark 10:14–15). How does a child receive a gift? With openness, honesty, and unbridled joy. That type of happy authenticity should be a hallmark of our faith as we receive God’s gift in Christ.

Of course, children are easily fooled and led astray. In their artlessness they tend to miss the truth and be drawn to myths and fantasies. But that is not what is meant by having a childlike faith. Jesus promoted a humble, honest faith in God, and He used the innocence of a child as an example. Emulating the faith of children, we should simply take God at His Word. As children trust their earthly fathers, we should trust that our “Father in heaven [will] give good gifts to those who ask him” (Matthew 7:11).
A simple faith is just fine as long as it is God given faith in the correct object of faith ,The Lord Jesus Christ.
In mt18:6 did you ever notice it is not just little children, but little children WHO BELIEVE'
6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Actually I do. I received a Bachelor's degree in Spanish Language and Literature in 1971. I was in Mexico City beginning to work toward another degree when I met my wife and went in another direction. Formally my Spanish studies were done, but in 1978 a couple of years after I really met Jesus, a brother in the Lord purchased German and Spanish Bibles as a gift for me. I had only started reading the Bible in English for the first time in my life in 1976, but from 1978 to the present date my reading has been in the three languages. The church service where I met that man was completely in Spanish.

I speak German almost never these days and Spanish seldom since my one close Mexican friend died a few months ago, but the reading of my Bibles in three languages is a daily thing, seven days a week. That is not to brag but to at least help you understand in part. The rest I guess is between you and God.

You may doubt it, but the man knew God. If every one who knows God has to prove it to anyone who asks, before God would accept them into the kingdom perhaps no one would ever be a part.

What is Truth? That is the question of Pontius Pilate and as you know, Jesus answered it elsewhere in scripture with the words, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life..." Consider from where you seem to be coming on this thing.

You may have some better qualities than them but to me you still sound very much like the Scribes and Pharisees who doubted and questioned Jesus. Are you better because you know the scriptures?

The Pharisees, like Saul of Tarsis, did know the scriptures very well, but they often, like Saul of Tarsis, did not know God. You will tell us that you know God, but so would those Pharisees of old. Saul of Tarsis also was working as he thought for God before meeting Jesus on the road to Damascus, but it most certainly the "left hand" until God showed him the difference between the Left hand and the Right hand of God.

"The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.
Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind." John 9:30-32

Every believer among us on this forum was born blind but when we met Jesus were not our eyes opened? @Anthony D'Arienzo Are you still blind? Do you stand apart with Thomas waiting for Jesus to show you t
he scars on his body before you will step out in faith?
I originally asked you if this man was under the ministry of the word, when you informed us he was illiterate. You did not answer then. Now we find out he was under the preaching and teaching of the word....so there it is.

So those who bring a false gospel, even if they do not preach nor teach,
causing many or ANY little ones which believe in HIM to stumble,
woe to them... as written...
They weil all likewise perish, unless they each repent (each for their own sin).

7]Blessings in Christ Jesus to all! I just want you, Anthony, to be perfectly clear in what you lips have spoken. Are you saying that H2S(Patty) has invented a false mystical experience driven religion?
Hello GTW27,
Thanks for asking for clarification.
I have not said H2S, has invented anything, or Angelina, Josho,
They have taken a big bite out of the false teaching Charismatic apple of our day however.
Everyone is free to believe what they believe is true from scripture. They can, and they do.
Am I and other cessationists able to agree with the historic confessional churches that their were signs of the Apostles, that ceased with the Apostles?
This is the historic view of the church, this is the ORTHODOX view. That this thread was moved into a forum called unorthodox views, shows the degree of error that some hold to, not even realizing it is they who have drifted from truth.
When I offer some of the teaching, people are suggesting it is the work of satan, demonic influence, perhaps they are questing my salvation, or worse.
In an earlier post I was told she was binding the "
spirit of lies" as if there was such a thing!
I can claim I am binding the spirit of "
broccoli florets" and no one can say I did not do it!
It makes just as much sense.

If I can clarify more just ask. If you feel I am in error by all means show it scripturally

Most earthlings do not have God's Spirit.... and end up with the same fate as the demons they serve.

You certainly are quick to jump to conclusions to condemn or criticize. Again it is fortunate, you have not been given the job of making binding final decisions for God about anyone else.

You still have said nothing to change the validity of the man's testimony. You did not hear it and even I do not recall the details of it from so many years ago... only the memory in my heart as to the source and depth of it. As for being under the preaching and teaching of the Word through some man, you are presuming something which I do not know. He was in the United States recently arrived illegally from, I believe, Nicaragua. Will you also condemn him because he did not obey the immigration laws? He was only visiting the meeting, as was I, where we met only the one time. He had never been there in that place before that day. He was not planning to be there again after that day.

Thank you for your clarification. I am glad you chose this way to respond. I do not believe that any one in here is going to convince you by words even though The Word of God is clear on this matter. I do not believe that The Lord Himself will move to show you the truth in this matter personally, as it is our faith that pleases Him. Perhaps by the prayer of a righteous man or woman you will come to witness the spiritual gifts(the true Spiritual Gifts) in action in today's time. If you were to witness The Holy Spirit in action you would leave this unbelief behind. There was a reason and a purpose for Thomas being chosen as one of the twelve. And when The Perfect comes, the imperfect will pass away!

There was a reason and a purpose for Thomas being chosen as one of the twelve.
We need to remember when we think about "doubting Thomas" . . .

Matthew 23
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
25 Behold, I have told you before.
26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.

"Thomas! Jesus was here! In this inner room! We saw him!" What's the correct response? Thomas did exactly what Jesus told them to do. He didn't believe it. Because of a character weakness? Or because he knew what Jesus had told them, and was willing to go against his closest friends?

I don't think of Thomas as weak.

Not that you said he was, I'm just taking an opportunity to mention this.

Much love!

Blessings in Christ Jesus Marks. The mention of Thomas was to show, like Thomas, Anthony in time, may also believe what he can not now. And I hope he does, for he is missing out on unsearchable riches that can only be found in Jesus. When One truly loves, He shares all of Himself, and thus it is written, "and greater things than these will you do" and "these signs with accompany those who believe."

Maybe you should comment on what I actually said, rather than suggest things I did not say.
Because you do not welcome it, does not mean it is not true.

It is completely untrue and a lie from Satan. All you did was give up one extreme for the other. I will say reformed doctrine is not of Christ

Context!

I Corinthians 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

Paul said he saw in part and knew in part. John said something similar:

1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

The Holy Spirit was here since the foundation of the earth in the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:2. He was here as a helper during the days of Prophets with accompanying signs and wonders and miracles. He was here as a helper during the days of the 12 Apostles with accompanying signs and wonders following and he is here today, dwelling in the children of God. That same Holy Spirit that hovered over the surface of the waters in the beginning, is still here dwelling within his believers as our helper John 14:15-18 and also as a seal of God's promised redemption, Ephesians 1:13, Ephesians 1:14. A guarantee of our inheritance 2 Corinthians 1:22, 2 Corinthians 5:5.

The disciples were called disciples because they were students, under a tutor, learning. When God sent them forth to all the world to preach the good news with signs and wonders accompanying them, they became apostles or sent forth ones. Philip the Evangelist and Stephen were not part of the 12 yet they showed signs and wonders like apostles because they were sent forth and preached the gospel. Acts 6:8 And Stephen, full of grace and power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people. Acts 8:6 And the crowds with one accord paid attention to what was being said by Philip, when they heard him and saw the signs that he did. 7 For unclean spirits, crying out with a loud voice, came out of many who had them, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed

The Apostles mandate was to preach the gospel of Jesus as witnesses to him with signs and wonders accompanying them. Matthew 28:19. This has not stopped today. Disciples and Apostles of today have the same mandate with signs and wonders accompanying them. As long as their are humans on earth, the Holy Spirit will continue to be active in the lives of believers until all people have been given the opportunity of salvation and eternal life. John 3:16.

Take our country for instance. New Zealand was a wild and savage country prior to european settlement in 1840. The indigenous natives did trade with whalers and seal hunters but they were not a party to the Gospel of Jesus until a missionary came here called Rev Samuel Marsden on Christmas day 1814 who became the first person to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in this nation. His first sermon was based this gospel text.

Luke 2:10-11.
10 Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

He is considered an Apostle because he was sent forth. Now we have thousands of churches here in NZ because of the sent forth ones....

Added: We have a song in NZ which historically marks this very special encounter.

Teharinui - Great Joy

  1. Not on a snowy night
    By star or candlelight
    Nor by an angel band
There came to our dear land
Chorus
Teharinui Teharinui
Te-hari-nu-i
Glad tid-ings of great joy

2. But on a summer day
Within a quiet bay
The Maori people heard
The great and glorious word

Chorus

3. The people gathered round
Upon the grassy ground
And heard the preacher say
I bring to you this day

Chorus

4. Now in this blessed land
United heart and hand
We praise the glorious birth
And sing to all the earth

Chorus

H2s,
1] the signs of an Apostle were for the benefit of the whole church. You still do not understand the teaching.
2] what it "implies " to you with your lack of understanding is not the issue. What scripture declares is what is important.
3] you have not read what has been posted carefully. The teaching of scripture is The Apostles were ordained by God,taught directly by God, who confirmed their teaching with visible sign gifts.
4] It does not say the signs of all believers, it says signs of the Apostles. Now you will attempt to point to mark16, which confirms the teaching that has been offered, the signs filled those who believed the teaching of the Apostles. As the Apostles preached the signs filled those who heard them.
5] All believers have the Spirit indwelling them,1 cor12:13-18, so another mistaken suggestion from you.
6]Then you resort to the make believe binding of a supposed spirit of lies, lol. If that worked you would believe the word of God as written, and not invent a false mystical, experience driven religion.
You continue to arrogantly talk to members here as if they have never read and understood the Bible...your self-righteous wisdom will be your downfall...because it is pride in you that causes you to insult members as you do.
Your words are empty and bears no fruit....and your paraphrasing and ad-lib comments on scripture are filled with half truths...there is no such thing as half truths tho....so that means this is false teaching according to my Bible and teaching from the Holy Spirit.

I have seen, I have heard and I have experienced the wonderful anointing and power of the Holy Spirit in my life.

I really feel sorry for you in a way...but I am going to post this Chapter of 2 Timothy and then be obedient to what it says to do....
2 Timothy 3:1-17
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their's also was.

10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

11 Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.

12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

I will be praying for you Anthony but I am turning away from anything you try to teach as verse 5 instructs us to do...
For there is nothing I can share that will touch your heart....this is something only the Holy Spirit can do at this time.

Verse 17....that the man of God may be perfect, Thoroughly furnished unto all good works.....this is a very deep scripture...

When you can understand the revelation knowledge of this scripture then come find me.

Sorry you have come to that conclusion.
I will help you if I can.
I can help to remove obstacles that have obscured your vision, but God has to give you spiritual eyesight.
