Is it possible, that what each individual believes, is the true doctrine for them? I now believe that The Lord meets people according to where their faith lies. I'm going to attempt to respect everyone's 'Christian' beliefs.
'do not forbid them, whoever is not against us, is for us' (luke 9:50)
I think that God gives a lot of mercy in dealing with us! And I think that our faith will determine much about how we live with God in this world.
But I don't think there are multiple truths, and that whichever we believe will be true in our case.
Take for instance the "baptism of the Holy Spirit". Myself, I believe there is one baptism, and that is by the Spirit, into Christ. But I also believe that we may receive additional "fillings" of the Holy Spirit. Now, let's say I ask God for more of Him, more power in my life, Oh! Baptize me in Spirit, I cry out! I don't think God then sits there and says, Nope! You've already had that! Now, if you were asking for a
filling . . .
I think God looks at our heart and acts according to what is true, even if we have the wrong idea some times.
Now, in this particular regard, as that a complete trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ when He died, and we died in Him, I think that faith is the determiner in what extent we will enjoy this benefit.
If we don't believe our sins are addressed once and for all time, then we will not live the same way as if we do. And in this case, I would say, Be it to you according to your faith.
Since you are the one who is determining where your focus is, whether on the requirements of law and therefore the empowering of sin, or on the righteousness of Christ given to us, and therefore the empowering of righteousness.
I think that if we all understood the Bible correctly in every instance, we would all be in complete agreement about everything.
Much love!
