Generally speaking:

If I post truth, I am not a troll

If I post seeking clarification, I am not a troll.

Specifically speaking:

I have no idea of the specific post to which you refer, and IMO it is not wrong to seek understanding of fuzzy phrased posts. Actually, I am doing what I have always done on another unnamed forum for many years; I seek to have definitions of terms, and use the Bible in those definitions.

Another reason for doing that is that I see posts that are not in keeping with traditional Christian teachings, and the posters claim to be "Christian". For example, there are some Mormons who claim to be "Christian" and they are far removed from any conventional definition of "Christian" in what they have posted.

BTW I am personally very insistent on backing things up through the use of Scripture in its context. I do that because any verse ripped from its context is a pretext 100% of the time.
And, of course, you're one of the chosen few that are immune to all of the tomfoolery and wordsmithing and must needs police the rest of us. You've obviously mistaken me for someone who seeks a detailed explanation of what you think you're doing here.

See? You did not ask him for scripture. I was also surprised you didn't know which scripture he was referring to.
that used to surprise me, too, but not so much anymore. We get taught one perspective of Scripture, regardless of which denomination we come from i guess, and no one ever hears of Apollos or No one has ever gone up to heaven in our "churches"

plus i think we all start out convinced and knowing everything? Questioning comes later i guess
dunning-kruger is real!

You could have politely asked him for references to see what he meant. I have trouble myself understanding him at times. You did not ask politely. You assumed he had no scriptural basis for anything he wrote. That surprised me.

My stating that there was no Scripture reference was another way of asking a cfr. In my schooling, I was taught to test everything by the standard of
Scripture.

See? You did not ask him for scripture. I was also surprised you didn't know which scripture he was referring to.
I STILL do not know to which post you refer.

As I stated above it was a CFR. You see, I am highly adverse to opinion being posted without any Scripture in context to back it up. When posters share something for which there is no Scriptural support, they are actually compounding ignorance. Calling for Scriptural support is an appeal to authority of God, and Christians need to be circumscribed by the propositions of Scripture, or else, they are posting pious pablum.

One of your quotes mentioned that the kingdom of God is within us. Can't argue with that, who's going to call Jesus a liar?
We could talk about that? My question first up, does this kingdom have a king?

There is some comic about it. On one hand, he says he studies the Bible in its original languages, but then he's at a loss when someone quotes part of it in English? I think he may be joking around with us. When I asked about the allusions to scripture, he said he didn't miss them -- but then he said he couldn't find the scriptures themselves. How can he recognize an allusion without knowing what it's alluding to?

If you don't recognize quotes from the Bible when you see them unless someone cites book, chapter and verse, what can I say? I think you may be pranking us.

Agreed this is a forum to discuss scripture and a person " opinions, POV " should be backed up by scripture/lexicons. I will not give an opinion without scripture otherwise is based upon my human reasoning and logic. Keep up the good work brother defending the truth !

Anytime anything is quoted whether its from scripture, commentary, lexicon, theologian etc.... the rule of thumb is to cite your source.

hope this helps !!!

This kind of thinking makes me wonder if you really read your Bible.

I can say the same thing about you.

Just an FYI- I was saved in 1980 at 20 years old. Hated to read and I could't stop reading my bible and studying it daily. I haven't stopped that daily practice since the day I was saved. The word of God is my food that satisfies my soul.

Any other false assumptions you would like to share about me ?

And BTW the poster I quoted can verify this from another forum we spent 20 plus years on in the language, apologetics, trinity and arminian/calvinist boards.

What happened in Berea? Why didn't Paul and Silas provide every passage the Bereans needed?

Acts 17:10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.
11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Now if you are claiming to be unlearned or forgetful, then perhaps you need others to tell you book, chapter and verse for every little thing.

I highly doubt you could teach me a single thing about Jesus that I don't already know. But I can promise you the opposite is true.

BTW- what denomination is your church ?

I advise loving God and your neighbor.

Mark 12:29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

Am I supposed to be impressed? I'm not.

Ecclesiastes 1:17 And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit.

Matthew 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Isaiah 5:21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

you are only impressing yourself by the way you are judging others you don't even know the first thing about.
