There is no god of the dead, just a God of the living. When a Christians falls to sleep it's not the end of life in many ways it is the Beginning. Those believers in Heaven are made in Christ perfect and have a much better life the the Church militant, those that fall asleep here and go to Heaven are the Church Triumphant. They are the great cloud of witnesses that surround us. Scripture was never meant to be the end all of Christianity but eventually man got the idea they were smarter than God and chucked everything but the Bible. A sad state man has made Christianity for their own designs
