This is such a rich and full description of blessing in Christ.True !
Romans 8:30
And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
Q: Do you think you belong to the chosen ones who will have eternal life? What do you say about yourself? Do you think you belong to the chosen ones who will have eternal life? And what makes you so sure?
In the Bible, you have to be called in order to be then be chosen. Nobody comes to God of his own accord, he must be drawn. It's just that most people resist this calling--this drawing--and as a result are not chosen by God.That passage you used is from the story of rejected disciples...
I'm sorry...we are just going to disagree on this.
A calling is similar to a profession...
I have a calling...it's a Christian man calling. I also have a calling as an electrician.
You can't put American/westernized ideals on Ancient Near East literature...that's how you have come to the conclusion that you have.
I'm wondering where @Ferris Bueller went...
He hasn't been back in a couple of days now.
*Sigh*
And we were having such a good conversation too.
Romans 8:29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. In the Bible, you have to be called in order to be then be chosen. Nobody comes to God of his own accord, he must be drawn. It's just that most people resist this calling--this drawing--and as a result are not chosen by God.
The "chosen ones" were Israel. What do you say about yourself? Do you think you belong to the chosen ones who will have eternal life? And what makes you so sure?
Please elaborate. By Israel, are you referring to the Israelites, the physical descendants of Jacob? The "chosen ones" were Israel.

...a calling and election that he will never revoke from Israel because he is bound by his word to the patriarchs concerning their calling and election.Deuteronomy 7:7-8
7The LORD did not set His affection on you (Israel) and choose you because you were more numerous than the other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. 8But because the LORD loved you and kept the oath He swore to your fathers (Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob), He brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
Yes, they were the chosen people of God.

Romans 11:28-29
...regarding election (being chosen), they are loved on account of the patriarchs (Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob). 29For God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable.
I know I am a chosen one because I did not choose Jesus. I responded to his call to himself and the salvation he offered me.What do you say about yourself? Do you think you belong to the chosen ones who will have eternal life? And what makes you so sure?
Yes, just as the church is corporately elected by God.This then tells us concerning the election of the nation Israel, that they were corporately (in contrast to individually) elected by God, that is as a nation...
That was the intent, but obviously, not all Israel has the faith of Abraham and are therefore not elected. They are called, but they are not elected. Most Israelites did not respond in faith to the calling they received. Meanwhile, believing Jews are among the elect. Paul himself being proof of that.Clearly, the corporate election of ethnic nation Israel was not unto salvation
Believing Christians who have the faith of Abraham are the chosen children of God. From among both the Jews and the gentiles.I am pretty sure you read scriptures. In connection to this, in your reading of scriptures, considering what Paul said that not all Israel are of Israel, who do you say are the Israel of God, the chosen of God, the children of God?
The difference is that, the church is not only corporately elected but each one who belongs to the church are elected individually by God.Yes, just as the church is corporately elected by God.
Are you suggesting that God, in His purpose or intent concerning His election of Israel had made a mistake or failed, in that, all of the ethnic nation of Israel are not saved? If that is what you are suggesting by what you say there, then I am sorry to say that, such position is not in keeping with scriptures relative to that. For the purpose of God according to election is sure to stand. That was the intent, but obviously, not all Israel has the faith of Abraham and are therefore not elected. They are called, but they are not elected. Most Israelites did not respond in faith to the calling they received. Meanwhile, believing Jews are among the elect. Paul himself being proof of that.
Please cite reference scriptures. Thanks.Believing Christians who have the faith of Abraham are the chosen children of God. From among both the Jews and the gentiles.
