Seems the issue that some have had with sin has being resolved, Christ took care of it all, nothing to see here.

The key word of the most common false doctrine is "cover." Anytime I hear someone use the phrase "the blood of Jesus "covers" our sin," I know they have been taught the watered down, powerless understanding of what the blood of Jesus actually does, and lives their lives struggling with sin, but has the false assurance that God can't see their sinning, so they still have their ticket to heaven. Many in these denominations that teach "covering" attract persons who desire to still be carnal; and never become born again - actual children of God. Not just in theory, but actually. Not just imputed righteousness (another key phrase used in this false doctrine), but actually. Jesus is coming back for a spotless Bride, not one who is still a slave to sin.

Part of the false doctrine is "we will always sin until we die and receive new bodies." The misunderstanding of the word "flesh" is the problem. Paul uses it equal to the old sinful carnal nature inherited from Adam. Those who believe this doctrine of demons never seek to be free, because they have been told they have to go through a life-long process of sanctification of overcoming sin. In other words, they have to become righteous in their own power of learning right from wrong. Good grief, that is what the Old Covenant was all about, but Romans 7:13 shows the problem. Sin in our nature. What is needed is a brand new spotless, powerful nature that partakes of the divine nature of Christ. 2 Peter 1:2-11. This is why 2 Peter 1:9 shows that only our past sins were cleansed. 1 John 1:9 ideally needs to only happen once. Then the fruit of the Spirit grows to maturity. The result of immature fruit causes minor trespasses, but forgiving others their trespasses against us causes our Advocate to forgive our trespasses. Matthew 6:14-15

Jesus' blood cleanses us of ALL sin; He takes it away, not just covers it up. He does NOT leave us with the old carnal nature of Adam? NO! Jesus is the new Adam. We become partakers of the divine nature of God that does not sin. The law of the Spirit of life in Christ has FREED us from the law of sin and death. Otherwise, we are not born again prepared for heaven. The New Covenant method regarding sin, is completely different than the Old Testament COVERING of sin, like a tarp over a cesspool, leaving the vile stench below.

The question arises from those in the false doctrine. "Then do we never have to repent again?" How many times does Peter say to repent in Acts 2:38? Or in 1 John 1:9? Once. If you truly repent and truly want to be holy, Jesus gives you His powerful sinless Spirit to change your desires. That is what becoming born again is all about. He makes you partakers of the divine nature.

So, no, once you truly repent, you shouldn't have to repent again and again as in the weak doctrine of covering our sin. You have no desire to do anything to repent of. Those desires have been TAKEN AWAY.
Isaiah says (more than once) that God does not remember sins if they were forgiven.

Isaiah 43:25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

Why would He remember them? They don't exist; and it's as if they never did least as far as God is concerned. I may remember them; and if I injured others, they may remember them. In earthly terms, there may be consequences of sin that need repaired, and surely we should work to try to repair the damage we have done. But they don't exist in the Mind of God.

I also like this verse from Isaiah. I think he's talking about how the saints get those white garments. . . without spot or blemish.

Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Not covered up, pretending they aren't there -- they are "changed."

The word for "repent" in Hebrew is interesting since it can also mean "comfort." When I heard that, at first it didn't make much sense; but over time, it started to make more sense. Someone who truly repents of his sins is a matter for rejoicing, not sorrow.

Luke 15:10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

I still have regrets for the harm I've done to others; but I feel relieved and happy, content in the knowledge I've seen the errors of my way and won't repeat them. It is insane how it can trap us into making the same mistake again and again. I think the Christian who remains plagued by this sin or another hasn't quite figured out yet how sin injures others and also injures the person doing it. Some approach it legalistically too, feeling guilty for disobeying some rule -- but I think they can figure it out by seeing God wants us to love one another. Find out how sin injures self and others, and you can be free of it.

John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Others sometimes allow guilt to enter the picture if and when they sin. Guilt doesn't fix anything; but it is a clue to us that something's not right. Stop feeling bad and repent. That will make things better. So I think.

The blood of Jesus is the life of Jesus. His blood displaces OUR blood..our life...so that it is His perfect life that takes over as we are translated INTO Him. By grace through faith. We go from a life FOR a life to a life IN a life. It is the power of the cross of Christ that takes our life out of the way...to pave the way for we to be IN Christ and partakers of His life.

So the testimony of the bible is too often received as a religious dogma and set of Gnostic beliefs that are used to self-justify oneself in one's sins rather than as a witness to the power of resurrection for they who are crucified with Christ INTO new life by the Spirit.

The power of Christ is real. We can do ALL things through the grace of the Lord that strengthens us.

The word most often used in the NT for "remission" of sins is the Greek "aphesis" meaning FREEDOM from sin. Jesus came to set us free. To break the outer hard shell of self-life to get at the core inner person that God is trying to save. But people will resist being broken by believing they are saved IN their sins. Self-protection is a killer as we resist the Holy Spirit by supposed doctrines that offer false promises.

Positionally at the moment of salvation our sins were forgiven- wiped clean.

1 John was written to BELIEVERS not unbelievers.

1 John 1:8-10
8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.

Relationally believers are to confess our sin( agree with God we have sinned) and He is faithful to forgive our sins.

So what happens when a believer sins and has not confessed that sin to God ?

Ephesians 4:30 - do not Grieve the Holy Spirit.

How does that happen, how can we grieve the Holy Spirit ?

Ephesians 4:20-32
That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. 26 “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold. 28 Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.

29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

If you are a parent you understand this concept. When your child sins it has effects your relationship with that child. There is something not right between you and until that gets resolved by confessing and forgiving the relationship will not be right. The same is true with God and us hence the grieving of the Holy Spirit and grief with the relationship we have with that child. Just like the prodigal son( he was always His son) but was living his life apart from his father in sin. Until he was repentant that relationship was not restored with his father. Scripture is full of such examples just think of King David and his sins until Nathan confronted him David was in grief and knew his relationship with God was broken read Psalm 51 .

Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.

3 For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is always before me.
4 Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight;
so you are right in your verdict
and justified when you judge.
5 Surely I was sinful at birth,
sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
6 Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb;
you taught me wisdom in that secret place.

7 Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
8 Let me hear joy and gladness;
let the bones you have crushed rejoice.
9 Hide your face from my sins
and blot out all my iniquity.

10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
so that sinners will turn back to you.
14 Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God,
you who are God my Savior,
and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
15 Open my lips, Lord,
and my mouth will declare your praise.
16 You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it;
you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
17 My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart
you, God, will not despise.

18 May it please you to prosper Zion,
to build up the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then you will delight in the sacrifices of the righteous,
in burnt offerings offered whole;
then bulls will be offered on your altar.

hope this helps !!!

@CharismaticLady,

Don't get me wrong. I am very close to believing that sins of the future are not forgiven if they are committed in a willful manner (Hebrews 10:26-31); and I am very close to believing that I must truly repent or else I am not forgiven.

The only thing that concerns me is that sins that I have committed since becoming a Christian have been "willful" and therefore am I completely devoid of being able to be forgiven; since apparently there is no more sacrifice for sins?
What you are saying in effect is that the 'old man' of you is not yet completely dead and that sometimes you surrender to him instead of surrendering to God. You speak of willful sins, but the Holy Spirit leading us does not go that way. As Paul speaks of the old man and the new man, James speaks of double mindedness and John the Baptist speaks of a need for Him to increase and for us to decrease. This is where most of us are, still having two, the old man and the new man, struggling for the dominion within us. All that is required for to become sinless is to surrender continuously to the Lord. He loses no battles, but He cannot fight a battle when we continue insist on taking charge of ourselves.

"O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps." Jerem 10:23

Jeremiah's words still apply. The only way for our steps to always be directed toward God and away from sin is through surrender to God within us. That is why Jesus came. When we have trouble surrendering to Him instead of to that old man then we need to ask for help!

"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?" Matt 7:7-11

If you ever did meet one, they would not say to you that they are perfect (because of 1 John 1:8); and therefore you would be left to figure it out on your own how impeccable they are in their walk with Christ.
Unless we had perfect discernment ourselves with regard to the heart of everyone else, how could we recognize a sinless person when we met one? Consider what Jesus saw in Nathaniel:

"Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!" John 1:47
Did anyone else notice that Nathanael was with guile? What does that mean?

dovloß Dolos (dol'-os); Masculine Neuter, Strong #: 1388

  1. craft, deceit, guile
And the promise?

"Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure." I John 3:2-3

That chapter is about the law of Moses. And the quote is from the Old Testament where they sacrificed bulls and goats that merely covered sin, but didn't take it away. You should know that.

"...as far as the east is from the west...He remembers them no more. "Covering" sounds like looking the other way like, pretending someone is not sinning, and we know God does not wink at sin, it's the ONLY thing He hates so, it's hard to believe there are some out there who go on sinning thinking He does not know, or see?? That is not the new nature which SHOULD make us hate sin as much as He does.

I sometimes do play both sides of an argument.

If we claim to have no sin, we lie...but if we claim that sin is rendered dead within us, we may indeed be telling the truth.
Yes, but I believe that these are two dichotomies, that are only valid in two different contexts. The former is speaking in a practical and actual sense, while the other is referring to a figurative or salvific sense. Both are valid, which I've always accepted, but in entirely two different contexts, for otherwise they contradict one another.

There are some Christians who go back like a dog to vomit, but not everyone does. This is why Paul commanded us to not quench the Spirit. Why? Because in the Spirit we do not sin.

a dog returns to his vomit because he is a dog and always was a dog

a Christian is not a dog he was made into a new creature.

Do you not know that verse by Peter? He is saying that if a Christian rejects Christ AFTER knowing Him, it is like a dog returning to his own vomit.

It should be odd to you, because it is not scriptural. But it is part of the false doctrine. These people believe that Jesus leaves us with the same carnal nature we inherited from Adam. They confuse our nature with our bodies. Thus, they believe we still sin while in these bodies, not knowing the power we receive when born again. Being born again is receiving a brand new NATURE. No longer the carnal nature, but are now partakers of the divine nature of God. 2 Peter 1:2-4

Yes, thus why it is a false doctrine of demons. Demons WANT us to sin and to believe God doesn't see.

No he is not saying that he is talking about fake Christians who walk around like they are saved.

Don't know CL, I haven't a single clue of what you are professing? Like I said, you, or anyone, will never meet a perfect Christian in your life.
Like I also said, you are confusing the idealism of Christianity, with the reality. John is saying, that it is improper for a Christian to sin, for how can you, once made aware of the cross of Christ. This is the manner in which he is speaking. Like I also said, why does John need to tell a perfect person, that they are perfect, for perfection would also involve one's awareness of such things.
You aren't listening to the refutation, but merely and stubbornly, holding fast to your naive and deluded understanding of 1 John.

1 John 1:8, 10
8. If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.
10. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

Many people try to white wash 1 John 3:9 with these verses, and as you said, you don't know what 1 John 3:9 actually means. But as for 1 John 1:8 and 10, these are saying what Paul did concerning mankind, and even those under the law of Moses - all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. But Jesus doesn't leave us that way. When we truly repent, He cleanses us of all unrighteousness. That includes the sin in our nature, and gives us a new nature devoid of the desire to sin. Thus, we no longer sin in the present or future.

Study 2 Peter 1:2-11. This tells you how to become perfect.

I have never met anyone who thinks god does not see their sin this is odd to me

I'm sorry, it was not very well worded :oops:
I have known a few Christians who take Gods grace for granted. Someone who attended a church I belonged to for a while had said to me a few times over a few years..."oh, everybody lies" It was in reference to something to do with her SSI. IOW-she wanted to "cheat", rather than trust the Lord. Her pastor thinks she is a spirit filled Christian...she stayed in my upper rooms for 2 years, when she had any and anyone who would help her to move out. She cleaned me out. Took many things of mine. Boxes of sensitive information, photos, a tv, an air conditioner, and several other things. Another, who is a high school friend and attends the church I now go to sleeps with her boyfriends and thinks God "understands". Admittedly, I don't personally know many like this but, I know they are out there. Their lives show it...and they say they are saved. Living together outside of marriage, doing worldly things and such. These are the ones I am speaking about who think that God no longer sees their sin but see Jesus instead.
I can only see God seeing Jesus if He is actually IN us. :)
