God does cleanse us of all our past sins, but you can still choose to quench the Spirit and what then? 2 Peter 1:9
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19 Quench not the Spirit.
20 Despise not prophesyings.
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

If we sin willfully against Him after coming to the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins (Hebrews 10:26-31).

You believe in one of the false doctrines of the OP. "Present and future" sins are already forgiven. That is not scriptural. Only our past sins are taken away, along with the carnal nature that produces sin, and are given a new nature that walks in the Spirit. The problem is, not everyone has experienced the new birth and can relate.

The Spirit inside you makes your conscience super-sensitized, and makes it very uncomfortable to do anything against it. But you must first HAVE the Holy Spirit to begin with. Romans 8:9

You appear to have a very limited view of our reconciliation to God. I believe that in Christ we are fully reconciled, and that God is not holding back from us.

Just how holy do you think you need to be to know God, to be joined to Him? I think, completely!

Much love!

So we circle back around . . . why you discussing such spiritual matters with an unspiritual unregenerate like me?

And quenching the Spirit means what to you? How do you define that? What Scriptures show you what that means?

Much love!

2 Peter 2:20 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. 21 For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. 22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit,” and, “a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.”

That's right. It Jesus or nothing. You can't bring another sheep as if Jesus' blood is no better than an animal's blood.

Seeing as I went through two different stages in Church, I know the difference in living without the Spirit for 30 years, and finally being born again and having constant communion with the Spirit for the last 43.

Not everyone going to church is saved.

Context.

9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
10 But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled,

This is who Peter is speaking of, those who walk after the flesh, that is, those who have not been reborn.

Much love!

The context (Hebrews 10:12) indicates that the sacrifice being referred to is the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross.

If you die in that state of going back to your own vomit, you will remain in that state in hell.

But.

James 5:
19 Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, 20 let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.

The context (Hebrews 10:12) indicates that the sacrifice being referred to is the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross.

26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Let's go back a little . . .

1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
2 For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
3 But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.
4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

Much love!

The sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross was a sacrifice for sins.

If we sin willfully after coming to the knowledge of the truth, it does not remain according to the scriptures at hand.

It's saying that if you are currently walking in willful sins, you're not saved.
.
.
.
That can be remedied if you will come to the knowledge of the truth (that you must repent in order to be saved).

Well yes!!

But it's not talking about the child of God.

Much love!

Yes, it is.

20 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning.

They were justified (escaped) and been given a new nature.

Knowledge.

This doesn't go against who Peter said he was talking about. And it Does Not say they were justified.

And it Does Not say they were given a new nature - Hey! Wait Just a Minute!

If they had a new nature, meaning, No More Desire for sin . . . well, how would they end up at their vomit?

Does the new nature desire vomit?

Much love!
