I'd say either that, or they just did not have the "eyes to see". Or "ears" to hear...?
I still say He was speaking in spiritual terms,
"Do this in remembrance of me"
What exactly are we to be remembering here? His death? His resurrection, the Gospel?

The rainbow is a "covenant" sign, it reminded God of his promise to us.
I see communion/The Lords Supper/Eucharist also as being "covenant signs" too, because Jesus called the cup of the Lord’s Supper the cup of the “new covenant” in his blood

marks, Of course they were justified; how else could they have "escaped the pollutions of the world." Believe it or not, that means they were born again. They were dead to sin, but so are those in Romans 6:15-16. They still can succumb to temptations and not resist the devil.
It is like the previous chapter:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
You cannot live your Christian life ignoring all the warnings of the apostles, and just believe what feels good.

There is a difference between those who are always looking for "loopholes", so to speak, to see how much "fun" they can have and still be saved. And, that kind of "fun" goes against everything God teaches us. Then, we have those like myself say. I do fall and loose my cool around the house when I can't get things done, or if I hurt my self bad enough, I will spew a curse word or two. Do I feel terrible after words, you bet I do! Ever tell a "white lie" to spare another's feelings? I coast through stop signs if there isn't a cop parked nearby and, yep...convicted of God and repent of it. Some things are much easier to let go of but, to me things that have been ingrained in us are not going to let go so easily, even IF we hate sin Like He does. It may be considered "falling" into sin but not "living in it"

Just my own belief and if I'm wrong then...at least I lived a life knowing He still takes awesome care of me :)
1 John 3:9 is based on 1 John 3:4. That is the context. Willful sins of lawlessness. I doubt very much you think nothing of stealing the church treasury! You couldn't do it.
Think about the fruit of the Spirit. There are more than just love. And sparing another's feelings sounds like mercy to me. Loosing your cool around the house, depends on your heart. The heart of Jesus was righteous when He "lost his cool" and overturned the money-changers tables at the temple.
But coasting through stop signs when you know you won't be caught is in the category of fruit called self-control. I'm sure you are usually careful, but don't be surprised if Jesus prunes that fruit to make it stronger, and lets you get a ticket! LOL
It seems to me there is a real inconsistency with your thinking here. IF these were born again, and being born again, you have no more desire to sin, then how are the described as . . .
13 And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;
14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
These are the born again, who no longer have any desires for sin?
How do you reconcile this?

Actually, failure to come to a full stop at a stop sign is a violation of a law that bears no conflict with God's Law, so aren't we supposed to obey the law of the land?
We truly have different ideas of what sin is. I believe ALL unrighteousness is sin, and is not the product of the born again new creation.

That seems to be a common reply to those who teach that we are fully reconciled, and all sin removed, that we just want loopholes as some excuse to do what we actually want, to sin willy-nilly.
I think it is a sin to misrepresent what others think.

First off. I care not in this discussion who would use any verses to justify wrong! It matters not if someone abuses SCripture. This scripture says specific things and we should pay attention!
The abuser will answer for their misapplying Scripture. that should not cause us to twist the SCripture because someone abuses it!
This indwelling v. practical is a ficticious difference you made up! Sin is sin. We sin indwelling and we sin practically because we still have a sin nature!
But this verse simply says - If we say we do not miss the mark (harmartia0 an action) we deceive ourselves. It has nothing to do with a sin nature but a fact that we miss the mark! That is why John wrote verse 9 next! Simply we miss the mark because we are in the process of being sanctified (made holy) but we still fall short, so he then says what we must do when we miss the mark and what God does!

You commit the standard error so many people unfamiliar with Scripture do.
What happens if a believer quenches the Spirit? The Bible makes it abundantly clear! When a child of God sins- they break fellowship with God! Their relationship is still a child of God, but they are being a disobedient child of God!
It almost appears that you do not understand the difference between a believers position in Christ and a believers daily experience in Christ! I know part of this is because you do not go past teh English to look at the original verbs.
But even our English Bibles clearly show that once we become a child of God- it is forever! God doesn't save us, then toss us out, then take us back, then toss us out etc.etc.etc. He knew before He created the universe His children and not.
Sin stopped being the issue the moment Jesus died and rose again from teh dead.
You seem to not realize a person DOES NOT gpot ot the Lake of Fire because they are sinners. No they go to the lake of fire because they never accepted teh only payment god the Father accepts as a payment for all their sin the death and resurrection of Jesus!
When Jesus rose all your sin was future! So this concept that after you are saved, Jesus blood did not pay fo rthose sins is a blasphemous lie! Nowhere will you find in the word that Jesus died for only a certain amount of your sins! Instead you will find that you were HIs enemy and He died for you and now that you are no longer an enemy- You are recipient of the "much mores" of God I posted to you earlier!
YOUr concept of god is too stingy and unloving compared to the god who is and declared in His Word!

Lot of that kind of thinking is just man playing religion, and isn't staying within the scope of God's Word.
Go out and commit a crime and see if Lord Jesus freed you from sin on that!
Obviously, we as believers on Christ Jesus can STILL mess up at times, and we need to repent to Him and ask Him forgiveness of it (1 John 1). If we no longer have need of further repentance for little sins we may commit, then that is to wrongly infer that we no longer fall short of the glory of God! (Romans 3:23).
Apostle Paul also revealed this battle between our spirit and our flesh, and how it will continue all our days, until we are released from our flesh...
Rom 7:18-25
18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

It's actually the OCCULTISTS who think one can be perfect in the flesh. They even believe through science they can eventually produce immortality of the flesh body! Only ONE came in the flesh through woman's womb and was Perfect, having no sin, and that is our Lord Jesus Christ. ALL others are still made subject to sin today while in the flesh, even us (Galatians 3:22). It is our 'spirit' that is saved, not our flesh.
Yes, self control...I've gotten pretty far concerning most of my bad character traits. It does get better and easier as time passes. Lot's of frustration leads me to lash out. Does not last long as I usually end up on the floor in tears and BEGGING
His forgiveness and to purge this terrible thing that fights me. I know he will complete the work He started in us ❤

Yes, agreed. "I think it is a sin to misrepresent what others think." <---absolutely, it is called "bearing false witness" and many do it on here. The love of MANY CHRISTIANS has grown cold and it is quite evident when reading some of the scathing, judgmental posts, the personal attacks and such. I want nothing to do with any of it.

You are suggesting I offer myself as my own sacrifice for my own sins? That this is better than Jesus' offering?
I suggest that only in Jesus' death our sins are removed. And then we can go on to offer ourselves to God.
But am I hearing you rightly? That you denigrate the death of Jesus as a sacrifice for our sins, the offering of His body on the cross, to die and live again, that in Him, we might die and live again, in new life?
Because, you see, this is how I see it. So maybe you can imagine how your words come across to me. Perhaps to others also, this being a Christian forum, where by and large we see Jesus' death and resurrection as, well, shall I say, crucial.

Christians are just asking for trouble if they become unequally yoked, or do not part ways with old carnal friends. Or if they become involved with a church whose teacher starts teaching a false doctrine that sounds wonderful, but only makes a person slack in their convictions. Like OSAS.
