To me, it's more a matter of logistics than 'right-or-wrong' in America. Personally, my faith indicates to me that if it's not my day to die according to God's will, you couldn't kill me (or any one of my family, for that matter) with an RPG at point-blank range.

But for those who feel God needs a little help protecting them, it's too late for a fair fight if you take the guns away from law-abiding citizens. There are already too many of them out there to have any kind of effective gun control. The bad guys will always have them now, so the gun control ship has sailed in that respect. The days of a well-regulated militia on-the-fly are gone, too, so the 2nd amendment is technically obsolete. But the whole mess is what it is, and we're stuck with it. :(

The well regulated militia is everyone that filled out a 4473 form(background check). The 2nd amendment or "the right to defend yourself" is not obsolete. If it was obsolete the dems wouldn't constantly try to diminish our gun rights. They don't want you to have that gun because you have a means of defense, defense from tyrannical governments, defense from THEM. The politicians are power hungry.

Anything apart from your say-so to prove that claim?
The 2nd amendment or "the right to defend yourself" is not obsolete.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed. From constitution.congress.gov
I don't see any "the right to defend yourself" clause. Because it's not there. It's a contrived interpretation of the actual language of the amendment.

Radical political filler/nonsense.

I don't want your guns. I don't even want them to be taken from you. Lighten up.

Yes, I believe someone can defend themselves. Those who are claiming that all they need is God and Bible and mentioning the Apostles, etc. are acting self righteous and really don't follow their own logic. How so? Because everyone claiming that locks their doors at night when they go to sleep. Why lock your doors when you are trusting in God? Being a Christian martyr and a victim of a crime are two different things.

I trust God and God has also provided me another area of self protection within the laws of my country (2nd Amendment) and there is nothing wrong with that.

I was raised with respect to firearms. I was taught the danger of them at a young age. I was taught gun safety and hunter safety. I am proficient with firearms as I hunt, shoot, reload etc.

In fact everyone I know is pretty much in the same boat. After all it is our right in the United States to defend ourselves and our families with guns. I live in a rural town and just about everyone from the age eight and up is proficient with firearms. Guess what? We have a civil , friendly populous and very low crime. Guns aren’t a problem.

I am a libertarian. I believe in maximum responsibility and maximum freedom.

Guns aren't a problem, in general, because they aren't a problem in your rural town. Again, I don't want your guns to be taken away, but can you see the flaw in your logic at all? Just asking.

The problem isn't the gun itself, it's how you use it.

You may not want my guns but the people you vote for do. Why do you think gun and ammo sales surge during democratic administrations? It's because they always push for gun control, every time and if you give an inch they take a mile. Democratic politicians do not want an armed populous. How can you not see that? I mean every time they are in office this happens. Do you need proof?

Joe Biden said he will absolutely take your AR-15 and he will appoint Beto Ororke to do it. So....

It's so cute that you think you know who I vote for. Just precious. :p

@Mantis

This'll be a rerun for some folks here, but I didn't vote at all for nearly 40 years because there was no "none of the above" option. But in 2016, I just had to vote against the two worst candidates of all time, knowing full well it wouldn't do any good. I learned my lesson and in 2020 I went back to my abstinence policy. They're all crooks. I pray for them but I don't expect much and I'm never disappointed. People often berate me for it, but I just tell them that people have fought and died for my right to not vote.

Locking your doors is a far cry from leaving them open and shooting anyone that entered.

I have no problem with you not voting. And they are all crooks, this I can agree with. Now it makes sense why you don’t know how they are always pushing gun control. If you are not voting you probably aren’t paying attention to the issues.
