Here’s something simple......” Flirting with Moses is cheating on Jesus “
Actually, the law is written on the hearts and minds of New Covenant believers (Hebrews 8:8-10, Hebrews 10:16, Romans 8:7, Romans 8:4, 1 John 5:3, 2 John 1:6, Romans 13:8-10; Romans 5:5).
Therefore, the law applies to all of us (Jew and Gentile alike).
“ By The Works Of The Law, NO Flesh shall be Justified”
We are justified by faith in Christ. But those who will be justified by faith in Christ are doers of the law (see Romans 2:13).
The preacher of the ten commandments may be instrumental in the salvation of a person.
Only if the teacher makes it clear that the Ten Commandments were given to show a person that they can never keep them.....they need a Savior.....they need Grace......that’s the Lesson we take from the Law....
Yes, it is clear that the letter of the law cannot be kept (Galatians 6:13). However, the spirit of the law is a different program (see Romans 7:6, Romans 8:4).
The righteousness of the law can indeed be fulfilled in those who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit (Romans 8:4).
In bearing the fruit of the Spirit, there is no law that will condemn us in our behaviour (Galatians 5:22-23). So, we will become law-abiding citizens of the kingdom of heaven through bearing the fruit of the Spirit because of faith in Christ.
He saves us to do what then, break the law?
No; because Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:34 that we need to stop sinning; and 1 John 3:4 tells us that sin is the transgression of the law.
Those who live by the law are lost.
Actually the opposite is true. Sinners are lost.
In order to become born again, you must repent of being a sinner...you must repent of being a worker of iniquity (Matthew 13:41-42; Matthew 7:23, Matthew 25:41). Workers of iniquity will be cast into the furnace of fire.
Sin/iniquity is the transgression of the law (1 John 3:4).
So then, those who are saved and set free from their sins (see John 8:31-36) will become law-abiding citizens of the kingdom of heaven.
Now, if you are saying that those who seek to be justified through attempting to obey a set of do's and don'ts are lost, then I agree with you.
I would merely point out that if anyone is saved by grace, sanctification will be in the works; and that means that the person will sin less and less. And again, sin is the transgression of the law (1 John 3:4).
Our righteousness does not come from obeying a set of do's and don'ts but through walking not after the flesh but after the Spirit (Romans 8:4). It is an entirely different venue; however the result is the same...you will be a law-abiding citizen of the kingdom.
Actually it is not the same...for if you attempt to obtain righteousness through attempting to obey a set of do's and don'ts, you will fail miserably.
The only way to fulfill the righteousness of the law, therefore, is to place your faith in Jesus Christ, obtain the Holy Spirit through Him (Galatians 3:14), and then begin to walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit (Romans 8:4).
See Romans 8:12-13.
