If you wanna know what true beauty is, the Lord explained it right here through Peter (1 Peter 3:3-4. I'll see if this image posts. If not I'll find another, or just type it out).

Do-not-let-your-adorning.jpg

It should actually read, "Let your adorning be the hidden woman of the heart," since the context makes it clear he is talking to women.

The loving heart, the kind heart, the gentle heart. These are what God finds beautiful.
❤❤❤

Thank you AR, ...yes, we did start off on the wrong foot, didn't we... lol!

Yeah,.. but that's all in the past now. :)

But unlike God, Satan doesn't care about the person on the inside. He doesn't care for people at all, and wants them to be the opposite of what God wants.

Makes sense that Satan would be trying to confuse us on what is to be considered beautiful.

I know and I'm not saying whether you are or aren't,.. I'm saying don't feel obliged to answer dumb and ignorant questions when they don't have any business asking you that in the first place. I would ignore them but I wasn't going to put up with somebody being rude like that to one of my friends.
yet you didn't consider it rude when I asked you the same question.
No for one I just have the need to stand up for my friends and for two,.. do you have the need to act like such an idiot? What is with you lately? I used to like a lot of your responses but now you just really frustrate me and make me want to swear.
you ask what it is....this is what it is, it is pushing your buttons. Controlling the narrative is important to you. Anything that threatens that for whatever reason illicits your anger.

Cause I'm the one who started the thread so I expected the question to go to me!! Whatever, I don't have time to deal with you right now. I'm logging off before I say or do something that I'll regret.

Hi there. @April_Rose

So many of the faces that we see on the screen or in magazines have very little truth to them, for most of the faces have been heavily made up and air-blown (whatever that may mean). The old saying is that 'beauty is in the eye of the Beholder'. Though there are some people whom most people would agree are naturally beautiful, their features being perfectly aligned perhaps. Yet there are those whom you wouldn't give a second glance to on the street, but when you are in conversation with them, they light up, and their personalities shine through, and make them beautiful. I believe beauty does come from within: and that love also makes everything about the person loved seem beautiful to the one who loves them.

All the very best wishes for your book writing.

Chris

That is a really good point actually. The people that our minds have been programmed to find perfectly attractive aren't actually real. I guess it's sort of the same thing like you see on a fast food commercial where the food is made up to look more delicious than it really is.

Beauty

God created everything beautiful in the Garden, but sin came along and caused that beauty to be flawed in many ways. Defects, distortions in the genetic code infected the whole earth, not just man. So when we look at something that appears beautiful from a distance, as we get closer, we start seeing flaws. Beauty can also hide evil and danger. A picturesque landscape with snow covering everything looks beautiful, until we see a person frozen to death on a bench from the storm the night before. A tiger looks beautiful from a distance, but don’t get too close. Some people can appear beautiful, until you take a closer look.. They may be evil, manipulative, conceded and selfish, even dangerous, thinking only to take whatever they can in any way they can.

There’s truth in those famous sayings: “Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder;” and “ Beauty is skin deep.” Many people are attracted to outer beauty and learn later on that inner beauty is more important. Do you think Marilyn Monroe was happy? John Kennedy saw her outer beauty but was only interested in an affair. What did Jacqueline Kennedy think of Marilyn’s beauty? She saw her as ugly, an evil adulterous, who threatened her marriage and happiness! Anna Nicole Smith was quite beautiful on the outside too, but her life was quite shallow and materialistic which was clearly evident when she married a very old millionaire. How did Marilyn’s and Anna Nicole’s lives end up? Don’t ever envy outer beauty because those people do not have it any easier, even if they are not shallow. They may find it difficult to find a man who is not just interested in their looks but want someone to notice who they are inside - desperately.

To many, a woman can be considered unattractive, or at best plain, but one man will eventually come along and see that woman as beautiful, interesting, stimulating his spirit in a way that actually motivates him to be a better man. Whatever wrongs were done to her in the past will fade, because this guy comes along and sees something in her. He knows he will have to spend some time and give her tender love and care before she blossoms like a flower. And the girl didn’t even know she had all this beauty in her. It was hidden, a treasure that needed to be gently discovered and released.

So beauty comes in different varieties, forms and shapes, but we need to be cautious. Solomon said everything under the sun is vanity of vanities, so we need to really value things that pass on, heavenly things that are eternal. When a deformed child, who believes in Jesus dies, do you think he will have those deformities in heaven? No. He will be perfect and beautiful – we all will be and so it will be like in the Garden, everything will be beautiful, without flaws, without sin and evil.

We are going to get an upgrade! This life is temporal and so our hope is in Christ, who will resurrect these imperfect mortal bodies into perfect immortal beautiful bodies.

So, looking back at my post that brings another question to my mind. How can any good come out of believing in what the media wants us to believe? The fact that most (if not all) humans are brainwashed to believe these people that don't really even exist are beautiful leads to a lot of crash diets and health disorders. Of course that also goes back to what @FluffyYellowDuck was saying that other animals in the animal kingdom (and yes even though God made man separate from animal scientifically speaking we are animals and that's a scientific fact) are pretty much only attracted to mates that look attractive to them. So maybe it's built in?

I don't know though. I couldn't see myself marrying and having sex with somebody that I didn't love. So I wonder why animals can't have romantic love like we do. Or can they feel it? Science has shown that animals feel other human emotions so why not romantic love? Isn't it not true that animals can be jerks too at times? So mating with (especially the animals who mate for life) somebody that treats you like dirt even if they might look pretty, why would anybody want to stay with them? How can animals do it? Then again people stay in abusive relationships as well for some strange reason beyond the realm of my understanding.

Sorry, I know that it's a lot of questions there but I feel like it all fits within the topic since obviously there are two kinds of beauty that we've been discussing. Outer beauty and inner beauty and I do find love beautiful. After all, it was love that brought Jesus Christ to the cross as the perfect sacrifice for our sins. :) Oh and btw, I also really liked what @Ronald David Bruno had to say. Especially the part about tigers. :D I think that tigers are really beautiful and they're my favorite wild animal, but it's like he just got finished writing about, better not get too close because something can look really beautiful and be really deadly at exactly the same time.

Have you ever noticed that especially with birds that the males are beautifully colored and the females are rather drab? It's so the females will be attracted to the males and they themselves are protected from predators and other males.

I made a topic about this on another Christian forum before and since I'm currently writing a love story where one character doesn't have the perfect body, I'm sort of wondering that as much as a lot of us on here feel like we're brainwashed by the media, why do we let that same media influence us that the only people who are beautiful are the ones that look like supermodels? I must admit, I am one of those people who appear to be brainwashed since I've never really been comfortable with how I look lol that,.. and I've heard it all the time growing up. I'm too short, too fat, I look horrible with glasses etc. I guess somewhere along the line I heard it so much that I began to believe it. :(

Beauty is the Love of God expressed as the Sacrifice of Jesus.
Beauty is the Kiss of God's Healing Spirit upon our Pain and our Regret.
Beauty is found where kindness heals hatred, and Love cures all.
Beauty is being made righteous by the blood of Jesus.
Beauty is the Flowering Burst of Spring Color, and where a Sunset is found, anytime.

Let me show you something about beauty.

We perceive beauty, because God perceives beauty.
We perceive ART as Beauty, because God our Father is an Amazing Artist who paints the universe with the colors of LIFE.

No other animal perceives beauty.....only mankind.
We SEE BEAUTY all around us. The Flowers, the Landscapes, Nature.
And not only that, but God allows us to HEAR Beauty... We hear it, in a baby's laugh, or in a beautiful song, or in a beautiful sound.

God has given us, the human beings, the innate ability to = perceive beauty.
This is a God given trait.
This is a miracle, because it makes us like God, and no other animal has it, because no other animal is "made in God's image, and God's likeness".

You look at a webpage that is filled with photos of SUNSETS, and you think..>"oh that one is beautiful, but that one is more beautiful".

If you put a dog, cat, snake, dragonfly, pig, horse, .....in front of that screen, they can't perceive it as "BEAUTY".

If you are on the beach, and the Sun is a big red ball descending into the Ocean, you think.. "that is so BEAUTIFUL".

Birds on the beach, have no clue.

But we do.....

= Thank you God !

Uhhhhhh...probably not.

Angels perceive it and I'm pretty sure animals do to, though they may not express it as we do...since they don't think in abstract terms.
