On authorship I agree with you.

Hebrews 2:3 KJV
How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

Compared to,

Galatians 1:11-12 KJV
11) But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
12) For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

As far as the intent and first application of the letter, I look at:

Hebrews 2:1-3 KJV
1) Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
2) For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
3) How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

"You hold to Moses, and you've had good reason, but now, there is something better, and unless you let go of the first covenant, and enter the New Covenant, you won't escape."

And the letter goes on to show the supremacy of Christ, and the New Covenant, over the first Covenant, and the Levitical system.

Chapter 1 shows Jesus is greater than the angels. Chapter 2 shows Jesus having become lower than angels - he humbled himself - for the purpose of dying for us, to, again, lead us into a new Covenant.

Much love!
Its for the church . the church consists of beleiving jews and gentiles . Though i know the target audience was to the jewish audience
who was having a hard time letting go of some things . yet it does apply to us as well .

the law of Moses has been rendered null and void and replaced by the law of christ!

What is the law of Christ? Is not the law of Moses included in it (Matthew 5:17-20)?

I know better about me than you ever can in your arrogant haughtiness.

I do not presume to say that anyone I am dealing with has arrogant haughtiness; because if I did, I would be pointing the finger and I would have three fingers pointing back at me (Matthew 7:1-5, Luke 6:41-42).

So you don't believe God said what He meant and meant what He said then? That what He said has a hidden meaning? Gee I wonder what you would do if you received a letter from France in French? Divine the meaning by yourself? Don't study the original languages, that is your business. I know what God has burdened me to do and how to teach the thousands I have taught over the decades.

English is a translation and depending on which bible you read, you either have a fairly accurate translation or a piece of Garbage. I choose to try to be a Berean and search to see if things are so.

I simply believe that those who say they have understanding of what the Bible really says because they know the Greek and Hebrew, set themselves up as being on the level of authority and that produces a cult-like mentality. Those who don't have knowledge of the original languages cannot be Bereans and check for themselves if what the Greek or Hebrew scholar is saying the truth.

I prefer to believe that the kjv is inspired and inerrant; as God is both sovereign and Omnipotent and loving; and therefore He is not going to allow His unadulterated message to be lost to the common people; who heard Him gladly while the educated Pharisees (Greek and Hebrews scholars) rejected Him.

I believe that the kjv-only controversy is there for a reason...for those who will take to heart the possibility that the kjv is authoritative over all other translations and who will adhere to it, they will find that they have God's unadulterated message and that they have not been led astray by watered down and or corrupted versions.

Actually, now it is Christ who defines sin in my life. The Mosaic Covenent doesn't govern us. Jesus gives me shrimp to eat! :) And Jesus has me do work on Saturdays sometimes.

Much love!

Excellent point. Romans 7:6 tells us that we are to be obedient to the spirit of what is written and that we are no longer condemned by the letter.

As concerning shrimp: I believe that if your eating of it causes your Jewish brother to stumble, you are not walking in charity. And Peter was considered a hypocrite over the fact that he wasn't consistent when his Jewish brothers came around, in that he ate with the Gentiles before they did. If he had simply followed the food laws before they came around, he would have been consistent in following them after they came around. To do so, for him, was obedience to the principles that we find in 1 Corinthians 8 and Romans 14.

"You hold to Moses, and you've had good reason, but now, there is something better, and unless you let go of the first covenant, and enter the New Covenant, you won't escape."

And the letter goes on to show the supremacy of Christ, and the New Covenant, over the first Covenant, and the Levitical system.

Of course, the law of Moses is written on the hearts and minds of those who are under the New Covenant (Hebrews 8:8-10, Hebrews 10:16, Romans 8:7, Romans 8:4, 1 John 5:3, 2 John 1:6, Romans 13:8-10, Galatians 5:14; Romans 5:5).

Also James 1:22-25 and James 2:10-12.

The law defines sin (Romans 3:20, 1 John 3:4) and we are told not to sin in the New Testament (1 Corinthians 15:34, Ephesians 4:26).

Some of my most bedrock "anchor" verses are in Hebrews!

But we do have to know how to correctly understand what is being said. I always like to use Noah for an example, because everyone knows we're not supposed to all be building arks. It was for that man at that time. But we learn so much from it!

Much love!

No.

Just ask Paul. And the other Apostles. They all refuted that position. In the council at Jerusalem, Acts 15, it was determined that the Gentiles were not required to keep the Law of Moses. Paul, being a Jew, knew he wasn't required to keep the Law of Moses. The Law can't change you. Jesus changes you.

Excellent point. Romans 7:6 tells us that we are to be obedient to the spirit of what is written and that we are no longer condemned by the letter.

As concerning shrimp: I believe that if your eating of it causes your Jewish brother to stumble, you are not walking in charity.
Of coures, the point I'm making is that it's not whether I'm eating shrimp or not, it's whether I'm fulfilling the Law of Love. The Law of Love has nothing to with whether it's OK for me to eat shrimp. Under the Law of Moses, that condemns me.

Jesus commands me to love others. So, as you say, whether I eat, or don't eat, what matters is whether I love others.

Much love!

Also James 1:22-25 and James 2:10-12.

Had you posted the verses, I'd point to each one to show, they don't actually say that. Let's pick one for example,

Romans 8:7 KJV
7) Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Does this verse say:

Of course, the law of Moses is written on the hearts and minds of those who are under the New Covenant

These seem like 2 very different statements.

Yes.

Jesus fulfilled the Law...
However God gave the Hebrews more than the Law...there were also PRECEPTS,
(Neh 9:14)
for behavior between men for the most beneficial outcome...and negative consequences for trespassing of man against man...
From what the Hebrew Elders judged, to civil law actions, to what men between themselves would settle one trespassing against another.

NT says every man shall bear his own burden.
( Gal 6:5)
You trespass (lie, cheat, steal, extort, etc.). against a man...You bear the consequences.

You trespass (lie, cheat, steal, extort, etc.). against a man...You bear the consequences.

You are making the distinction between Christ's eternal sacrifice for sin, who is Yeshua, that has redeemed the born again from all their sin... and the consequences found on earth for living in carnality.

Once born again, all judgement for sin, as well as sin, is removed from the born again.
Obviously, if we the born again are "in Christ" then if we were judged in eternity, after we die, for our sin, God would be judging Christ again, as we are In Him as well as being "One with God".
So, thats not going to happen.

However, there is a spiritual law that sits in place on earth, that does not change.
Its this..." sowing and reaping"...>"seed-time, and harvest".
The bumper sticker says...."what you do, will find you".

So, even tho the born again, are as sinless as God, always, and kept so by the Blood Atonement, we still REAP what we SOW.
Deed are spiritual seeds.

This means that our deeds on earth, are judged by consequences= as " sowing and reaping".

God wont hold you accountable after you die, for your life of sin, because He has already held Himself accountable for your sin, on the Cross, and by His Death, on Earth.
So, He paid for your judgment due us for our sin., and that means, He wont judge us for our sin after we die.

BUT..

If you live on this earth, in carnality, as a born again Christian, you will face the consequences of your behavior, and often the payment is worse then the deed would suggest it should be...
Reaping is always worse then the sowing.
That's what happens.
For example, one act of adultery, committed one time, can ruin your life, forever, on earth.

Ministries are toppled tomorrow, and left to burn in shame, because the Pastor had a fling, once, with a secretary, 30 yrs ago.
See, the Blood of Jesus paid for that sin, 2000 yrs ago, but the consequences of that sin, can be a 30 yr old person, and worse.

So, depending on your elevation in this life, is exactly how far you can FALL, if you dont live in God's Grace that gives you to power to live in perfected discipleship.

Agree with most.
Disagree with this, some reasoning thereof.

...sin is removed from the born again...

Sin Removed? No.
Covered with His Light, Yes.

Rom 4:
[7] Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

Raising Up, in Glory, is the raising Up in a body without corruption...aka sinless.

...the born again, are as sinless as God...

No. Sinless is Perfect. We are in Christ's risen body, our body is dead, being prepared, to be glorified. Meantime we are "perfect-ED" in Jesus' Body....(until ours is Made perfect).

...will receive Consequences for behavior....

We already DO...Blessing from God.
We already DO...From other men.

...one act of adultery, committed one time, can ruin your life, forever, on earth.

Maybe...Likely, but not from God.
From a spouse.

Ancient Laws, were introductions and practicing, Temporary Relationships, between mankind, preparing maknkind for a Permanent Relationship with a man and God.

A persons Marriage on Earth is Temporary...
Adultery, Divorce, Spousal Death...can end the Marriage "union".

A Promise a person makes to another...
Can be broken.

A mans debt to a man can go unpaid.

Point is...a Union with God, a mans word to God...ARE Permanent....No do overs.
A mans debt to God is required and shall be paid.

A born again man, is not judged on judgement day of ANY Faults....ONLY Rewards/ Crowns for his submission, and some have a hierarchy reward.
A man "works" are also judged.
All works that glorified God and His Great Name...are rewarded (and that has a caveat)....If the man was rewarded by other men...THAT was his reward.
(And why men do "works" to glorify God...
In secret, without broadcasting so to speak).
All "works" of the saved, that did not Glorify God, "are burned".

OSAS - Yes

Saved & Born again, able to AGAIN SIN Against God...(reject Him, Not believe, fall from Faith} ?
No.

Saved & Born able to Trespass Against other men?
Yes.

God Bless,

Heavy emphasis on "brother".
A "brother" should have an expectation of a "helping hand"... whereas others without the Lord may hope for an endless "hand out" expectation.

The beauty of the truth is that it endures forever . I find that everything that was written those many years ago
still applies as much today for a church to thrive . Let us praise the glorious Lord .
Holding our Faith in Christ firm to the end . OH the glorious gospel of our Lord and Savoir .
And let all the lambs praise the glorious Lord . Thanking God the Father of our Lord and Savoir
for the great and wonderful mercy of His grace which has been given us in Christ JESUS .
Let us learn well our bibles . And let us honor HE who has saved us in all that we do and say .
Thinking on the lovely and pure truth of all things He did say and teach . What wonderful
good for our souls is the truth of our Glorious Lord . Now let all that draws breath praise the glorious Lord .

Let us heed our glorious Lord who speaks from heaven . In all that we do and say let it honor Him .
Let us follow the Spirit and not the flesh . Always abounding By the grace of our Lord which is given us in Christ Jesus .
I have found that every reminder OF JESUS , and of the apostels , whether dire , grave or promise is just good for the soul .
Let us be hearers and doers of the Word . Follow the Spirit , for always does it lead us into Truth
and works in us that which is well pleasing unto GOD . But beware the flesh , for it is contrary .
Thank GOD for the SPIRIT which does unction us whenever a evil thought does, by the flesh , enter into our mind .
We truly have all we need to walk righteously , holy and godly in this present world . For if our faith is in Christ
then we truly do have the Spirit . So let us heed the Spirit and not the flesh .
And let us remember well what paul also said unto the church in galatia.
God is not mocked , if one sows to the flesh they shall of the flesh reap Corruption
but if one sows to the Spirit they shall reap Life everlasting . Just follow the Lord , having all hope in HIM .
Let us be diligent in our walk . Let us always be thanking and praising HIM . And on that note , LET THE LORD BE PRAISED .

Willful sin in turning back to the rites, rituals, and ceremonies, as well as works of the Law of Moses for salvation (or sanctification). That is the entire thrust of the epistle to the Hebrews.

The justified ones ("the just") are to live by faith in Christ alone, and His finished work of redemption: Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

Draw back to what? To the Old Covenant. Hebrew Christians were vacillating at that time.
The work of redemption isn't finished though really is it... Otherwise no-one would be saved tomorrow. And why there is still hope for others because the work of redemption in continuing so long as our High Priest is still ministering. When He leaves the sanctuary to come to take His bride home.... That is when the work of redemption will cease.
It is true there is no more sacrifice for sin. That doesn't mean that one sin seals our fate. It means there is no where else to turn but to Christ... Who is our present help in time of need... Both for strength to turn away from temptation, and for forgiveness in our weakness in succumbing to temptation. Our advocate with the Father.

No worries mate! There is an answer to Hebrews. Hebrews brings up a few topics that some do not understand. Some very interesting.

So, the law of Christ isn't the Sermon on the Mount and the Sermon on the Plain? i was under the impression that it was.

And even the least of the commandments in the law of Moses are included in Jesus' moral standard in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:17-20).

I mainly refer to the first of the verses that I referenced as being a proof text and the rest are evidentiary texts.

That first passage is as follows.

Heb 8:8, For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
Heb 8:9, Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
Heb 8:10, For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
