Yes, I believe that we must put forth effort to crucify the flesh; by staying in God's word.

The letter kills but the Spirit gives life.

That "killing" that is accomplished by the letter of the word is also referring to the crucifixion of the flesh.

I have heard it said that we cannot crucify ourselves. You hammer in one nail, you don't have a free hand to hammer in the second.

It is therefore a work that must be done by the Lord.

I gave this some serious thought.

At first I wanted to argue. However,
It is true that the best way to stop sin is not to play whack-a-mole with each sin that pops up but to be filled with the Word of God and His Spirit. So the "effort" should always go first to seeking the Lord, then His grace enables us to put sin away and walk in the Spirit.

And, of course, it is important that we also resist the devil when he tries to tempt us.

Jas 4:7, Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

1Co 10:12, Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
1Co 10:13, There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

"Tares Reveal Themselves by what they DON’T Say."
Yes, and I find that the very person who posted the OP reveals himself by what he does not say...or, at least, what he used to not say. Now what he says reveals him as a Tare.

In that he teaches that repentance is not really needed for salvation...that you can be a worker / doer of iniquity and still go to heaven...the Bible is clear that this is not the case.

He used to preach what I thought was some pretty good stuff...but what he didn't say makes it clear what he really believes...that it does not matter if we sin...perhaps that God is even pleased with our sins....or at the very least pleased with us as sinners.

personal attack thread is tragedy.

No......preaching a Perverted Gospel is a “ Tragedy”...... rebuking “ Accursed” Teachers Of Those Perverted Gospels is Biblical......

15:14, Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.[/QUOTE]

.......and what were/ are the Commands? Believe and Love.

What does it mean to love?

See Romans 13:8-10, 1 John 5:3, 2 John 1:6 for the answer.

I am a Christian...but I do not subscribe to OSAS but am more closely identified with POTS.
I was being attacked by several OSASers . That's why I asked if they profess to be Christians. I think only one answered the question.

Obviously, no answer from @Blood Bought 1953.

Either he is not an OSASer (I find that highly doubtful) or else he cannot confess that he is a Christian; because he knows he isn't one.

Notice that I did not specifically say that he is not a Christian.
When I asked if they were Christians most of them disappeared suddenly.

The question is for all OSASers.

If that is the case, as a BIG-TIME unapologetic OSAS Guy......I am a Christian..... a “ Christian” is anybody that has “ Christ IN
them”.......and Christ is formed in one’s Heart by Faith.....

I am a OSAS Guy simply because Jesus was.....Jesus said that if we put our Faith in Him, we are ALREADY SAVED and shall NEVER come under Condemnation.....for the “ dim- bulbs in the Crowd—- NEVER means NEVER......
Nobody yet has even tried to argue about that verse...it is Iron - Clad....it can’t be debated by any Sane person....especially somebody with the Holy Spirit in them....

You should read all the Bible and not just pick the parts that fit your unBiblical doctrine.

Written to Christians:
Romans 11:22 (NKJV)

22 Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off.

God's “ goodness” is Doing His Will.....what would that “ WILL” be? “ To Believe in the One that He sent” ....
