It is absolutely a gift! Many dont have it which is why you see so many get dragged into political wars unfortunately. I take no joy in seeing others consumed by anger, hatred and self rightousness

I pray the Lord blesses you with the gift of discernment so that you are able to make the right decision with whatever it may be that you're facing. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen!

Encouragement scripture for you: Concerning the spirit/Spirit of God/Human Wisdom/Spiritual Wisdom/Having mind of Christ

You all take care God bless all of you and your families, and all people here on this forum site.

1 Corinthians 2
10But God has revealed it to us by the Spirit.

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

11For who among men knows the thoughts of man except his own spirit within him? So too, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.

^ I would read that question and ask yourself what that means by answering it: Just something to encourage in looking at the question Paul presents.

12We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.

13And this is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.c

14The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

15The spiritual man judges all things, but he himself is not subject to anyone’s judgment.

16“For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to instruct Him?”d But we have the mind of Christ.

I don't know if this counts as one of the spiritual gifts or not, but I am requesting it.

Please, please, please, God give me discernment. I need this really bad.

Thank you.

Amen.
I was told by God that the gift of discernment of prophecy and revelation were gifts. But I would guess other discernment might also be gifts.

There is the gift of discerning of spirits. Also, James wrote that if any lack wisdom, to ask God, and He will give it to you, freely, without any reproach. Only let that one asking believe, and not be double minded.

So ask God for the wisdom to understand what it is you need to understand, then proceed on the assumption that He HAS in fact given you the wisdom you need, and make your best considered decision or evaluation, knowing that God has made you wise.

Much love!

'But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age,
even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised
to discern both good and evil.'

(Heb 5:14)

Hello @FluffyYellowDuck,

This verse (above) within it's context, indicates that discernment comes 'by reason of use'. That is, as they read God's Word, their senses would be exercised to discern both good and evil. Faith comes by the hearing of the Word of God, and grows by the same means, and I believe that discernment comes in that way too.

'Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved,
bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind,
meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another,
and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any:
even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
And above all these things put on charity,
which is the bond of perfectness.
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts,
to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;
teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed,
do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God and the Father by Him.'

(Col 3:12-17)

With love in Christ Jesus
Chris

Fluffy, people told me that i should have the gift of tongues, but all i had was the gift of tears.

People told me that when prayed for, that I should fall on down onto the floor, but my spirit only wanted to fly with the eagles so that i could see God's Glory from above.

People told me that I did not have the gift of discernment because they did not get the same words from God that I did and they only wanted to hear what they though they should hear or had decided in the flesh.

God will give you the gift of discernment when you need it. Be careful in desiring to have the gift of discernment that this could gift Satan an opportunity to give you a false gift of discernment, in your eagerness to have this gift of discernment from God.

Just give thanks for the Gifts that you have from God and let Him decide as to whether or not you need any other spiritual gifts at this present time.

Many a time i had people running up to me to touch me when i was manifesting the spirit of God while quietly sitting still in God's presence. I learnt that God gave me the gifts that I needed when I need them and to be thankful that He had given me the gifts that I need when i needed them.

I can be a slow learner, but the gift of spiritual wisdom in the things of God is more important than any other gift that we could desire.

May you have spiritual wisdom in your relationship with God and learn quickly how to uses this spiritual gift to bring glory to God and God alone.

Shalom

Thank you all. I was looking for some discernment for a personal matter, but so far all I got was that I'll be okay, take a break, get cleaned up, and focus on my work/studies.

What I heard was:
"It doesn't matter what you do,
I am going before you."

There's probably more to that then I know.

So I guess the answer is trust God and do my thing.

Re: The prayer of @FluffyYellowDuck,

Dear Heavenly Father,

We thank you that you know this young lady's needs, you know why she is desiring discernment, and the reason she desires it at this time specifically. You know and love her, and will not withhold any good thing from her. So, we thank you that you will provide for her in this regard, you will give her the wisdom she is desiring so earnestly, please may she be enabled to receive it, and draw on your strength in her weakness, for in our weakness your strength is made perfect.

We know that the power you have towards us is like that with which you raised Christ from the dead, and that you are able to do exceedingly abundantly more that we can ever ask or think.

So we thank you now,
In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
and praise your Holy Name.
Amen

Oh Fluff!
I had been, and still am, this very thing for ten years. And boy could I write a book about what He allowed to come my way, lol! The more you read the Word, the more you will have. Also, asking for His wisdom to make good choices is a great prayer.

Anyhow, YES! I will pray God give you discernment...it is OH SO important...especially as the time nears...

Discernment is not meant to understand worded messages from God but to rule out messages which are not from God. When you were a kid, did you need discernment to understand what your parents told you? No, you didn't. You either listened to them or you didn't.

Do you imagine a 13 year old posting on snapchat: "My parents told me to go to my room. What do you guys think they meant?" (I'm lightening the mood here, not making fun of anyone).

For starters, here are three hints that will allow you to rule out messages from demons:
1- God speaks in a loving or neutral tone; he doesn't speak in a harsh or angry tone
2- God may give suggestions but he won't make it seem like you have to listen; he doesn't give orders
3- God gives useful information; he doesn't deliver confusing messages

The message you posted
"It doesn't matter what you do,
I am going before you."
doesn't qualify in my opinion.

Now a worded message might comply with those three rules and still come from a demon. That's when you'll need discernment.

If you're not sure, then how do you know you should be asking for it? If it's for a personal gain, then there is probably alot of other things you may need to do before you will receive this gift. Denying the flesh, living a life of repentance and striving to live a life a holiness are very important aspects to practice. Also practicing the fruits of the Holy Spirit. In Hebrews 5:14 it says But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Are you still a babe in Christ?

Discernment is a wonderful gift to have, such are all gifts from the Lord. We can ask, yet we must remember that should He allow it, it will be on His timing, not yours. (Hebrews 6:3)

Praying for you and I hope you will grow in your journey for the Lord. :)

Dear Lord,

I thank you for Fluffy Yellow Duck and her desire for discernment. I pray that You give her discernment in greater measure for Your glory and for Your namesake. I ask these things in the mighty name of Jesus.

I asked for it and I got it in an extreme way. Thank God and thank you all for praying.

This is from God and I will explain why-

I was asking constantly "what do I do" every day, multiple times, constant anxiety - instead of trusting him and doing what I needed to do. It didn't mean to be stupid, just to stop worrying about it and just do something instead of wasting time sitting around for years waiting for an answer on what to do. So the interpretation is much different than the one holding the experience.

I did what I needed to do and life has improved very much. That word helped me so much and I am trusting God and doing what I need to do.

I am focusing right now on my parenting, taking care of the home, and working towards better things, which is why I am not here so much lately. I am busy.
