Okay, so the left made one funny meme...

That's why I lovingly refer to the Don as the great pumpkin.
(I'll admit that I never liked what I read about his exploits in the local New York newspapers growing up. He was always portrayed as the spoiled rich kid that had the world for his playground and I can't see how that's really changed. )

That's interesting.
I'm glad I posted. We learned something today.
I don't know why anyone would be named after a color pattern, but my family's crest is 3 pines vertical or 3 piles of cut wood. I assume that my ancestors were foresters for the king, but I really don't know a thing about them. (I do think that I've seen another crest associated with the name that actually includes a panther beneath a tree, but that one is a different branch. The name is quite common in Spain.)
That's probably more than you ever wanted to know, but Spain has been on my mind a lot lately. I've been thinking about moving there, but I definitely need to work on my Spanish.

Nonsense. The cartoon depicts animals having conversations with bizarre language and the originator was a Christian. What race do you imagine that the characters depict? Such a statement only implies that you think like a racist, assigning race to animal cartoon characters because of your low opinion of whoever you imagine that they are. The idiot that your link connects to is applying a 50 year old funny strip to an event that happened last year. Did Walt Kelly have a time machine?

You missed the whole point. Even of Pogo's quote.
Well, at least you got that hate screed off your chest.

I remember seeing this cartoon in the Sunday paper when I was a kid. My mom and I laughed because it is true. We are our own worst enemy.

No , I didn't. What the character pogo was saying (and you'd know this if you'd followed the comic regularly) is that we are our own worst enemies. You've been brainwashed by the tares and unrepentant sinners.

where’s the comic strip?
It was published in syndicated news papers back in the 1960s when I was a child and read the "funnies" every day in the Long Island Press. That strip was loaded with irony, but it was innocent and made people laugh at themselves.
That one statement by the character pogo was so well recieved that the artist was invited to reuse it in another cartoon (where he was in woods but surrounded by garbage) to advertise the celebration of the first "Earth day, " To raise environmental consciousness. I can't believe anyone would stoop so low as to make the artist into a divisive racist. How corrupted is 21st century thinking?

ah well i pay as much attn to politics as i do religion--both passing away anyway--and i would agree that that would prolly be a di...thoughtless appropriation, but i would have to see the meme to be sure, and clicking on the link just took me to some Talking Head article? Where's the beef?
ok, found it
and i take it this is the offending post?
