I don't know why anyone would be named after a color pattern, but my family's crest is 3 pines vertical or 3 piles of cut wood. I assume that my ancestors were foresters for the king, but I really don't know a thing about them. (I do think that I've seen another crest associated with the name that actually includes a panther beneath a tree, but that one is a different branch. The name is quite common in Spain.)

Nonsense. The cartoon depicts animals having conversations with bizarre language and the originator was a Christian. What race do you imagine that the characters depict? Such a statement only implies that you think like a racist, assigning race to animal cartoon characters because of your low opinion of whoever you imagine that they are. It was published in syndicated news papers back in the 1960s when I was a child and read the "funnies" every day in the Long Island Press. That strip was loaded with irony, but it was innocent and made people laugh at themselves.
