As pastor was used in a metaphorical sense, how could it be interchangeable with other distinct LITERAL offices?
Yes, incoherent as usual. Was "apostle" used in a metaphorical sense? How about "prophets?" How about "evangelists?" No? That's what I thought.

Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

Obviously you didn't really read my post. Already answered that. Even the definition YOU provided said it was a metaphorical use of the word.

It's only "metaphorical" in the sense that those being shepherded are "people" instead of "sheep." You're grasping at straws Stan.

The same warning could be given to Jesus; warning! Do not trust people. Thankfully, He died for us instead

Okay, guys, thanks! ... Now, how about it? ...
Are you very unwise to trust your church’s doctrines?
Thank you for caring again!

No sarcasm nor rhetoric, I don't dare even trust my own as it's so deceptive, ie, world wide pretentious worship, and what makes me not a part of it?

Has anyone picked up on the trend that "all the churches are wrong" usually is the justification for the rise of cults? Mr. Zain has already said he doesn't have a church and doesn't attend, tells us all we should be distrusting our churches like he does. What he hasn't revealed yet is what cult we should be giving all our belongings to and joining. I'm just waiting for that shoe to drop.

Sorry, you're going to have to wait a long time ...
I've never belonged to anything remotely resembling a non-Christian cult or sect.
I began evangelical at Calvary Chapel.
Soon moved on to Pentecostal.
Then on to Charismatic.
If you'd like to pick up a cheap pair of shoes, I suggest The Salvation Army.

Thank you again for caring!

I still attend Churches, ie, seen long ago our Lord is bigger than them thus the funding, others getting saved, and so on comes to pass in our Lord's name no matter how corrupt. What was surprising, over 3 decades ago I could relate to about 10% that really cared enjoying their fellowshipping also during the week. In today's time I even have a difficult time finding the 1% that aren't just going through the motions hoping all will turn out o.k. at the end? I finally got them to slow down after church in the parking lot so they don't back over a little child getting to their expensive golf tee times, and etc.

Gee, Jack, thanks for the repeat performance.

I was watching The Tennis Channel and the program was about teaching and coaching.
One expert quoted an old famous coach: “You have to be willing to be fired every day!”
Meaning an honest coach will be frank and honest with his employer (the player) about
such things as: what is wrong with his game, what he needs to do to improve,
what his prospects are regarding his tennis future, and etc.

Of course, immediately I thought of the job a pastor/priest is supposed to be doing.
Pastors know that if they are too honest, often they will lose some of the members.
And that’s why they often bring in evangelists to preach a difficult word to them.
Ever hear of “the hard sayings of Jesus”, which are not very popular with the troops?

Pastors/priests don’t sing this tune: “You have to be willing to be fired every day!”

Thank you for your response again sir!

You're only being too nice, over here in Hawaii they want to punch me out after Church...this is why I've learned how to duck also having thick skin sort of thing. I don't recall stating the sense of what I said on this thread, unless I missed something??? However have stated somethng similar on another thread...you've got a good memory...sorry I irritated you.

Old Jack not winning any personality...."very unpopular"... contests too soon unless RANDOR is my agent?

You opened that door, not me. You're the one who revealed that you don't even have a church, meaning no church is good enough for you. I remarked that this is a trait associated with cults, that all the churches are teaching error and should be abandoned and shunned. Such groups form their own secluded community that circumvents police, social services, and the law and eventually it ends in disaster resulting in the tragic deaths of many, if not all members. That's according to studies that have been done on cults. So when I suggest you may be part of one or starting one, or even thinking of going in that direction, I'm speaking from a educated position.

Oh, oh, better watch out, folks! ... From my educated position  ...
an educated papist is dangerous to his/her own spiritual health (and to that of other his/hers also).

Thank you folks for caring!

Where a little child can wade accross the stream of Scriptures, yet an elephant drowns. It's time for us Christians to join together in a good Christian Mud Bath trusting those Scriptures slinging verses back and forth.

Old Jack's opinion

Trusting the Scriptures or Church brother Stan, or both?

I trust God's Word Jack, and it isn't mud. It is life. I don't trust churches because they can get it wrong, and many times do. I belong to the BoC.

Look at the stones that were used to build altar's to the Lord. Those stones were not to be dressed.... by human hands.
