This verse kind-of upsets me. I work as hard as I can to resist sin and to hear this....James 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.Or is there a larger picture here?

There is a larger picture.Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Colossians 1:13-14
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Psalm 51:5-7
Behold, I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me. Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
And finally, remember:Matthew 5:17-18
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
The law still stands - we're to follow God's commandments. There are more verses to go to if you need them. Christ did away with the ordinances, but not the law.

It's either you're light or darkness, there's nothing in between."I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth." Revelation 3:15-16 (ESV)"And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light." 2 Corinthians 11:14 (ESV)"The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!" Matthew 6:22-23 (ESV)"For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israelafter those days, declares the Lord:I will put my laws into their minds,and write them on their hearts,and I will be their God,and they shall be my people." Hebrews 8:10 (ESV)"For I will be merciful toward their iniquities,and I will remember their sins no more." Hebrews 8:12 (ESV)"Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God." Galatians 5:19-21 (ESV)"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law." Galatians 5:22-23 (ESV)

You shouldn't worry whether you're making God happy or not, for God cannot be unhappy because God's plan is perfect. You should worry if you yourself is not happy because it means something is wrong and the Spirit is supposed to give you peace of mind. Jesus did not come to destroy the Law but it doesn't have to be interpreted the same old way. "Do not bow down to idols", it means do not worship demons, it's angelic language. The Laws now are written in our hearts so it means we have to follow now our conscience. Beware of wolves in sheep's clothing.

Here is a great proof that God does not rate sin from better to worse!If you break one sin, you break all of them. This is absolutely true, and in 1 John we read about murder being as bad as sin.1 John 3:15Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

Yes, there is a bigger picture and point here. The idea presented by James is that if we are capable of even one sin, then we are sinners by nature. I think what may help you is the study of the sacrifices God required in Leviticus. What? you may ask. The one sacrifice was the trespass offering. This was for sins of breaking the law. The other was the sin offering. So many people cannot discern the difference. That was for the CONDITION of sin.So many people look at sin as something they committed. No. What the bible is trying to teach is we are BY NATURE sinful creatures and making one sin right again does not take that away. If we broke one, that proves we are sinners and might as well have broken all of them is Jame's point. It's a point of one's being or inherent nature (sin offering) vs. the acts of that being (trespass offering).
