Ok, so if you go watch the trailer, the basic premise is that a girl is doing miracles supposedly by the power of The Virgin Mary, but actually it's Satan. I actually agree with the line above, as a protestant. Praying to Mary is wrong. Can Satan use prayers to those other than God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit to manipulate us into believing he is someone good? I say yes. Because he is called an angel of light, not because he has light in him, but because he can appear that way. I can see why Catholics might not like the film, though and I'm not advocating seeing it, as I'm sure it's quite scary. But blasphemous? That I'm not sure about. Comments?

I sort of might want to see it. *Dodges tomatoes* I wasn't going to start a topic about it but I really like horror films. :) I'm curious as to what @JohnDB has to say about this since he's a rather laid back Christian like me. :D

Ok, as far as horror movies in general, I've never been a big fan, but I have watched some stuff that might qualify for the title.
But I also find it fascinating that Hollywood is so obsessed with good versus evil. In a world where relativism seems to be the predominant moral compass or rather lack of one, we still have all this entertainment whose main theme is good versus evil. I mean look at the whole Marvel franchise.
Did anyone watch "Logan"?
Again, I don't recommend it for everybody because it has a lot of language in it and violence, but it also has a rather biblical theme of redemption.
Sometimes I think the world understands that there really is a war going on better than Christians do.

I don't advocate setting evil before one's eyes either. But ...at the request of a survivor of MK/SRA who I respect, I watched some of the "Stranger Things" series, because it is largely based on what really happens to victims of MK Ultra (Montauk, etc). I didn't watch all of it and skipped past some parts... but that series has a lot of truth in it as far as what happens with MK Ultra. Has anyone seen that series?

I try to steer clear of anything dark. A lot of our TV dramas have been quite dark lately so have not watched them. And I definitely wouldn't watch anything violent or full of sex or horror films. I'm also quite choosy about what I read.

I don't think you can open yourself up to any dark stuff without being affected in some way by it. It's insidious and creeps into your mind even though you think it won't.

I wouldn't recommend to you that you indulge in that which is demonic in nature.

But of course, you have your own will.
The disciples didn’t run from demons so what’s the problem?

We see them all over both testaments so they are a reality. What’s the difference between reading about them in the Bible and watching a Bible based movie that has them on the big screen ?

For me, the Bible edifies and Hollywood does not. God's agenda is for my good, while, in general, Hollywood is run by powers who would like to destroy us.

And personally, I don't find horror movies about demons to be entertaining.

Honestly, there's a difference in choosing not to seek out evil content to be entertained by, and "running from evil." But ... scripture says we should do exactly that. Not that we should be fearful, but we should be respectful of the Holy Spirit who indwells us and not grieve Him.

Psalm 101:2-4 (KJV) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ² I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? Did you ever watch the passion of the Christ ?
Watching a Christian movie that exposes evil or shows the violence that Christ endured on our behalf is different from watching a horror movie.

Have you ever watched this movie?
