We should take a deeper look at righteousness!

As long as the OP doesn't start teaching we can be saved by our own righteousness - I'm good with what's written. :)

    Predestination or "Free Will?"

No! We are choosing to sin OR not! We have a choice to make every time we are tempted. Obedience is NOT a works, it is a commandment! The Fruit is Christ - that is the only Fruit acceptable!

The most "evident" truth of scripture

Exactly, Christ is the overcomer, who lives where? IN US! He overcomes in us. It's not rocket science.

The Moral Law not Abrogated by Christ to Believers

And what you have said was THE POINT!

    Predestination or "Free Will?"

Yes! That is a great verse! Paul is talking about those who still try to justify themselves. Our desire should be that we have the will of the Father, there is true freedom there. We know there are people who will not be there as all the warnings in the NT, one of which I have already given...

The Moral Law not Abrogated by Christ to Believers

You couldn't be trying to imply what God sees as abominations aren't "covered and hidden" in the New Covenant....... ......the nerve! :o :)

    Predestination or "Free Will?"

"He cuts off every branch that does not bear fruit" Jesus the Christ In order to be cut off, you have to be attached in the first place. Again, sin leads to death, who is it that chooses to sin?

    Predestination or "Free Will?"

We should take a balanced view and not pick and chose the scripture that supports man's ideas. Sin leads to death.......whose choice is it to sin?

    Predestination or "Free Will?"

God is the One who draws us, John 6:44 No man can come to me unless the Father who has sent me draws them and 1 Cor 2:14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness. However, we are called into the race first, but...

    Predestination or "Free Will?"

Yes, this is right. After God draws us, we have the freedom of choice to either accept or reject Christ. God does not force Himself onto us.

    Predestination or "Free Will?"

Hi Axehead, I have thought along these lines, too, that the only will is God's. If we all had free will, it would be dangerous, a person with their own free will could cause alot of damage.

    The Religion Box

When the Lord says we are to give all for Him, it doesn't necessarily mean we go out and sell and/or give all our stuff away, it means we are to hold nothing back for His glory, that all we do and have are His in the first place. There is nothing that would stand between us and Him, otherwise it...

    The Religion Box

Most people I know, once they've tasted of the Lord - they want more of Him, never heard anyone say otherwise.

    Attack ??

Hey Laid, I was actually going to check this thread today to see if you had responded, read it earlier but didn't have quit enough time to respond to your latest. Thanks for sharing this, it's awesome Jesus was with your daughter and He allowed you to see. It's kind of like He was showing you...

The most "evident" truth of scripture

 I didn't think calling you a Calvinist would be an insult to you. :) Back to the topic at hand...... Christ fulfilled the righteousness of the law in us so that we might live it out perfectly. It is no longer I, but Christ living in me. When we are loving the Lord and our neighbor, it's...

The most "evident" truth of scripture

    Well, he is a self-proclaimed Calvinist. ;)

    The Religion Box

Having fellowship with Christ takes us out of the human realm and into the spiritual realm where supernatural happenings occur! Read The Revelation!!! We dwell with Him, it's where things happen - transformations, miracles, dreams, visions, and countless other ways He chooses to reveal Himself...

Absolute Truth Where Have You Gone?

I agree with your post, aspen, it's a good topic. I am not so sure this is such a recent phenomena, is it? We have 1,000's of denominations due to disagreements such as these due to people reading the bible written in English and concluding to their own private interpretation.

    The Religion Box

I agree with you. I think the point of the recent conversation is that we can have experiences with God, He wants to reveal His glory to us, He wants to fellowship with us - He is not a silent partner! ;) Praise God for all of it!!!
