The "Fall" in Genesis (what does the text of Scripture say?)

Genesis 2:16-17 16 The LORD God commanded the man, saying, "From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; 17 but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die." Notice that God DOES NOT tell Adam IF you eat from...

    Christian Forums....Why did you join?

I don't know about all of that. I just know I came here as a Christian, learned of some faults (with my self), and by God's grace overcame. Now I am sure I will have something else to work on. I think I'm probably the most imperfect person perfected in Christ you'll ever meet. :)

    Christian Forums....Why did you join?

Yes, you are correct. I apologize if my post was not clear. I think, to answer @Joseph77 's question, that imperfect Christians (whatever the sin) join Christian boards and congregations is to grow and learn. I was prideful, but that was not a badge of honor. I did not even realize it at the...

    Christian Forums....Why did you join?

I joined Christian forums to learn about other people's views and theology. Later on I used boards for feedback on arguments I was presenting in seminary. Now it is for fellowship and to better understand other people. I think conflict comes when people cannot express or defend their views...

    Santa letter

I was looking through old files and found this letter my son wrote to Santa 10 years ago (he was 6). It reminded me of just how God has blessed me. The first part says: Dear Santa, Are you doing good in the North Pole? How is Rudolph? Is his nose glowing? I have been nice by helping my mom...

    Pre-Destined Elect - simplified.

The issue with this discussion is so many go beyond Scripture. Calvinism goes beyond Scripture. Calvinists will often exceed what is written in Scripture by explaining that their theories are taught by Scripture. But we know this is not correct. 1 Corinthians 4:6 Now these things, brethren...

    How rich is too rich?

And we are rich if we are. :)

    How rich is too rich?

I wonder....how poor is poor enough?

    The Greatest Gift to Mankind

God loved the World by giving to the World His Son, that whosoever (out of the World) believes will have everlasting life. Christ said that there is no greater love than a man lay down His life for a friend, and He lay down His life for us. John writes that God is love, and how God showed His...

    Christians, Forums, and Sin

Over the years I have been involved with professing Christians across a few boards. One thing that I have noticed is that there are a few people who exhibit a spirit of ungodliness. Many of us, myself included, have responded inappropriately and with insults. I think that we all recognize this...

    Favorite Bible

I can't decide. I grew up with the NASB and still like it. I guess that is my "go to" Bible because of its familiarity. I like the NKJV and ESV, and am start g to appreciate the NIV more.

The Scriptures are God's Greatest Gift to Mankind

This is not true. I do not know you. I knew of a Preacher4Truth on the Baptist Board, but he and I got along. I left and when I came back he had been banned. I know of no other people who used that name. You are confused.

The Scriptures are God's Greatest Gift to Mankind

Tagging someone does not justify gossip. @Preacher4Truth, you did not engage. You gossip. What I posted is a verse. Look it up. Do you believe Christ is superior to everything or not?

The Scriptures are God's Greatest Gift to Mankind

What we need to understand is that without Scripture we would not know about God's redemptive history. Scripture is important. God reached to man and revealed Himself to us through Scripture just as He revealed Himself to Israel through the prophets. But this does not make the Bible a greater...

The Scriptures are God's Greatest Gift to Mankind

It is gossip because you are talking about me and my view rather than addressing me about my view. I also seem to get only half the dialogue. I see your posts and Anthony's agreement, but Anthony and I do not see one another's posts per our agreement with the Administration. "Gossip" does...

The Scriptures are God's Greatest Gift to Mankind

@Preacher4Truth, Rather than devolving into gossip and rather than depending on others to answer for your faith, why not take a little time to study Scripture and come up with an answer of your own? You indicated you agreed that God magnified the Bible above His own name, but you have failed...

The Scriptures are God's Greatest Gift to Mankind

I thought you shared his interpretation that the Bible is magnified above God Himself. I do not know why you decided to gossip to affirm his view, but at least we can now see where you stand. Given Scripture directly contradicts your interpretation that God is inferior to the Bible, how do...

The Scriptures are God's Greatest Gift to Mankind

I certainly hope not (given he has just started gossiping). The key is whether or not he will repent. I am not a sinner in that I am no longer mastered by sin. This does not mean I do not sin, but I repent of sin. I am a Christian.

The Scriptures are God's Greatest Gift to Mankind

Speaking of belittling... Do you believe the Bible is magnified above Christ? Or are you still trying to decide?
