What Mormons Believe--according to a Former BYU Professor

This one: Do you really think God wants you to treat people as objects? Or that such methods are going to bring closer to your beliefs?

What Mormons Believe--according to a Former BYU Professor

I was replying to breklite's comment, wherein he called BYU a seminary. I am still waiting for an answer to this question: Your fear is leading you to treat me and many other people as objects that you need to "save" rather than individuals Christ loves and died for. Do you really think God...

    Should women teach the bible?

That we should be EXTREMELY wary of one-verse theology. I by no means think that this verse means "all females should never open their mouth in church at all and never teach at all". I find such an interpretation to simply be unsupported by rest of scripture or logic.

Your fear is leading you to treat me and many other people as objects that you need to "save" rather than individuals Christ loves and died for. Do you really think God wants you to act this way? Or that such methods are going to bring closer to your beliefs?

Then just honestly ask, rather than assuming or going off of what you've been told.

Already responded to the exact same quote and had my response ignored: I love how she conveniently pretends that an eulogy (which that song is) is an oath of allegiance.

Gold is the word used. Now, what exactly that means, is not specified. Could simply be gold colored, or partially gold (like modern carat system), etc. No really. Going to break down a few subjects here: What eventually became the Book of Mormon was given as scripture to help guide the...

Sure can do. Any particular part you'd like me to talk about? (so I can talk about that rather than other stuff)

What Mormons Believe--according to a Former BYU Professor

brakelite, I'm OCD truthful. I just put good information out there and try to clarify things. Simple as that. I don't know how many times I've explained that. And yet you keep trying to "inform" me of my motivations. It is EXTREMELY disrespectful.

Stripping the context and meaning of anything religious involving religion makes the description useless.

As I am using the term, an axe-grinder by definition includes the skew. Not all critical people are axe-grinders. Lynn Wilder is an axe-grinder. Other people are not. For a personal example: my favorite aunt is an ex-Mormon and critical of the faith. But not remotely an axe-grinder.

What Mormons Believe--according to a Former BYU Professor

Not remotely, for all of the reason I listed above. No. As I have said a million times, I don't give a rat's tail if somebody else disagrees/dislikes with my beliefs. No. Not remotely. Please quit trying to "inform" me what I think and believe. It is beyond disrespectful.

Here let me explain terms as I am using them: An axe-grinder is somebody that is agenda driven, usually in some type of angst wanting to pain something/someone in a negative light, and skews information to suit their purpose. Not all folks that are critical of someone/something else are...

What Mormons Believe--according to a Former BYU Professor

As always, I am happy to happy any question: Prayer Warrior: as I've made very clear, I'm tired of being treated as an object rather than a person. Lynn Wilders's book: Is grossly inaccurate and skewed, which is annoying as a person who's OCD honest. I would have / do have the same issue with...

What Mormons Believe--according to a Former BYU Professor

A whistle blower and an axe grinder are two different things. What makes a person an axe-grinder is the hugely biased agenda and the willingness to put a huge skew on information. That's why their intrinsically such a problematic source. A person can be critical of someone / something else...
