Focusing on Hell is all about Ego

I think you are way over-analyzing it and simply don't need to. In scripture we have the description of people either going into "eternal punishment and everlasting contempt" or "eternal life and everlasting life". (Matt 25:46; Dan 12:2) So, no matter which way we 'go', which audience we are...

    New heaven and new Earth

So, in a way, it shall be very much like ourselves. We shall remain 'us', just made 'new'. God will remake our old selves into something that, while recognizable as ourselves, is most definitely not our old selves! The old seed must die for the new to emerge, glorious in it's promise.

Focusing on Hell is all about Ego

And yet, if your dog was to do something, like, kill a sheep, or another dog, you would still need to take some sort of action, wouldn't you? You cannot accept all actions from a dog, just because he is not the same sort of "being" as you.

Focusing on Hell is all about Ego

Well, yes, I agree. But, for us to receive this restoration of our garden relationship, we must first confess our sinfulness and ask forgiveness. We can't ignore this part of our redemption, it is clearly spelled out in scripture: "Repent!" But I heartily agree that once we have forgiveness in...

Focusing on Hell is all about Ego

Well...I could post a heap of verses, and if you'd like, I can. But, I think it's best to start with logic. If it were simply a matter of people being born totally oblivious to God...not knowing he existed, or not knowing him personally, then, well, it's not that big a deal, is it? It's a matter...

Focusing on Hell is all about Ego

Sorry, but, how is 'eternal' and 'always going to occur this way' any different, really, except one is shorter than the other, and therefore slightly more efficient? They both give credence to the notion that an event will continue on indefinitely, yes?

Focusing on Hell is all about Ego

I don't know that God needs to threat, does he? He simply states what will happen...what will be, should we continue in our active rebellion. I might be nit-picking here, so I'm not going dogmatic on it. I'm just trying to establish how I see God...um...approaching...the whole issue? It just...

Focusing on Hell is all about Ego

I think that is certainly part of it, yes. But I think also we have to acknowledge our active rebellion against God. It wasn't simply a mistake, we outright declared ourselves to be better gods than he; and we continue to do so while in open defiance of him. That is why it is so important for a...

    Have you been baptised correctly?

@Willie T , @JesusIsFaithful , @Triumph1300 , @amadeus , @"ByGrace" Thanks for your answers and links. So...they kind of believe that it's one god that changes hats? Or...has a personality disorder? Not trying to be overly disrespectful (although I thoroughly disagree), but that's sort of how...

    Have you been baptised correctly?

Um, can anyone explain to me what this "Oneness" is that people keep talking about? It's not something I've bumped up against before, and I feel like I'm missing a big chunk of the conversation! Thanks!

Focusing on Hell is all about Ego

My first thought at seeing this thread was, "who on earth focuses on hell?" But...I suppose you're right, there are some people who love to preach "fire and brimstone". And I suppose they do it to try and scare people into heaven, which seems slightly cockeyed to me. I mean, you know that I do...

    New heaven and new Earth

I've read many things on the "New"...some say it's completely new, others say just re-made. I'm not sure, but I think we can safely say whatever it will be, it will be glorious! And, well, yeah, it's fun and exciting to speculate a bit...and I don't think it hurts. As far as the "there will be...

Be Rapture Ready Or Be Left Behind!! Your Choice!!

Ha! The amount of times I've said, "say what?" *insert goggle eyed emoji* It's a little humbling, actually, to read, re-read, and then read again, something and just simply...not...get...what someone is talking about. Seemingly they are using English, which, you know, I speak as well; but have...

Be Rapture Ready Or Be Left Behind!! Your Choice!!

Well, sort of, but I tell you what, if there's one thing I've learned here, it's never assume you understand what someone is saying. So, if find it's best to try and check!

Be Rapture Ready Or Be Left Behind!! Your Choice!!

Thanks. I think a balance must be struck, because deal with it we must! I know some don't like looking at the end times, and conversely some are obsessed with it. The bible talks about both, so, well...so should we!

Be Rapture Ready Or Be Left Behind!! Your Choice!!

Thanks for clarifying for me, and I agree that until we are changed we will struggle with this 'corruptible' flesh. It's hard not to be impatient, isn't it? We have Christ in part now, which is wonderful, amazing...the mercy and grace we receive is beyond comprehension, really. But knowing that...

Be Rapture Ready Or Be Left Behind!! Your Choice!!

Hi! Just wondering if I can clarify something about your post here? You say that you expect a daily coming of the Spirit until we see Christ fully personified in our life, and then the Rapture will come. Do you mean that you expect that the Spirit will, at some point allow us to be fully like...

Be Rapture Ready Or Be Left Behind!! Your Choice!!

Well...in a way, that's part of the "Already, Not Yet", isn't it? That the Kingdom has been inaugurated, his Spirit present in his Church, but we await the final and full consummation, his second coming? I don't know...it's easy to use the Theological terms you hear about it, but sometimes it's...

Be Rapture Ready Or Be Left Behind!! Your Choice!!

I'm not sure I can agree with this, at least fully. Well...about the hardships, sure...he did, and we do! But wrath? I'm not sure about this. No...we are not to experience the wrath of God, as we have been saved by Christ. But...I am always troubled by the way people looking for a Rapture...

Be Rapture Ready Or Be Left Behind!! Your Choice!!

I think you are right in some part here...so many do see the Rapture as escapism, and happily acknowledge it as such. "Who wouldn't want to escape?" they ask. And...that's fair enough...most people being honest with themselves would say they would want to escape what they say is going to happen...
