    Prophecy= Psalm 83 War=Israel against Iran,Syria,backed by Russia

I have been watching the happenings over in Israel/Syria with interest. Not only because it holds many implications on the world/political stage, but because of the prophetic possibilities. I must confess; being Amillennial, I did not put much stock in all the "to-ing and fro-ing" of the...

I'd like to have a calm, rational conversation about End Times...anyone?

Well, I'd hate to burst your bubble, but as Christians, we place "the beginning" with God and then trace history through our understanding of OT, interlaced with world history. Basically, why would you think the Paraohs and Chinese Emperors are what Christían's copied their beliefs off? They...

I'd like to have a calm, rational conversation about End Times...anyone?

:D Oh! This got a laugh out of me! I so know exactly what you mean! Second...third reading. "Is he talking to me, or is just throwing that out into the ether?" "Is that supposed to have particular meaning, or is it just a vague comment in general?" "What does one even say to that?" "Can you even...

I know, right? I don't understand where he's coming from either. But yeah...I think that's exactly what he's saying.

What are we really dealing with here?

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. Okay, perhaps at this point I should ask: what do you mean, exactly, when you say we must become "joint-sacrificers" with Christ? What things must we suffer, like he did, for us to be a part of this covenant that you are talking about? I think before I...

What are we really dealing with here?

Actually, this is not how Covenants tend to work. Both parties enter into a Covenant by making promises and also making it clear what will happen if the promise is broken. For example: when God made the Covenant with Abraham about the land, it was one sided, but it still held those particulars...

What are we really dealing with here?

I'm sorry, but I see this as just incorrect. As I've mentioned before, the New Covenant, which is God "remembering our sins no more"... the forgiveness of sins by the spilling of Christ's blood... which is something Paul teaches to the Gentile Church... is clearly for us. Paul also spends a good...

What are we really dealing with here?

Oh. That's so much better. Deficient. Thanks. :p I suppose we can beg to differ on that. And... who is "we"? Okay, because this threatens to become super long and complicated, I'm going to try and really pare down my answers. To this, it seems simple, you are hanging your whole argument on...

I'd like to have a calm, rational conversation about End Times...anyone?

That is what anyone "tells themselves" when approaching how they read scripture. Everyone has to start with an understanding of how to read the Bible. And of course human fallibility bumbles in there more often than not. For you too, I would assume.

I'd like to have a calm, rational conversation about End Times...anyone?

It's true that a lot of 'prophecy watchers' say we are very close to the end. And if you read back, a lot of the Christian authors and Church Fathers thought they would see the end in their time as well. And I don't necessarily think this is either bad, or even a wrong thing to do. The Bible...

I'd like to have a calm, rational conversation about End Times...anyone?

Well, I cannot disagree, but tend to see my answer to that lying in the Amillennial perspective. That being; the 1000 years is a figurative number symbolizing a full, or perfect period (when it is over, Christ declares his reign complete and the last enemy, death, will be conquered) and is...

I'd like to have a calm, rational conversation about End Times...anyone?

Hi brakelite, thanks for those passages. I've read through them, and, well...one does not really 'pass judgement' on a new idea in the space of an hour or two. On first glance, yes, i'd say they are talking about end times judgement God calls upon the Earth. But... I cannot quite see how you...

I'd like to have a calm, rational conversation about End Times...anyone?

To interpret something literally, only means we need to interpret it faithfully as the text wishes us to. In other words, God would not have us see him as a giant hen, or Christ as an actual Lamb, or Satan necessarily as a dragon or prowling around in Lion form. To faithfully interpret these...

I'd like to have a calm, rational conversation about End Times...anyone?

Unless that's just figurative. I'm assuming you're talking about when the bible says that God will be our light, and that there will be no sun or night...? Like the mention of "no sea", it could be purely figurative. "Sea" was always used in the OT to describe chaos and turmoil...hence, in...

Hey brakelite, that's interesting. What happens on Earth during that 1000 years? She lies resting, for her Sabbath? And do you see this only because of John 14, or do you find it elsewhere? Thanks!

    An interesting question.......

I would say that you are certainly not wrong in that Christ is using this as an ethical call. But it still doesn't not diminish the practical nature of the example. Many people are perishing. Yes that should motivate us, but even though we 'send people out' and minister as we can, they remain...

    An interesting question.......

Don't you love Revelation? I know it's quite controversial because of all the different views that people have about it, but when you push that aside for a bit...how often does the book let us get a sneak peek into heaven, at the worship going on at the Throne! Some people see it as scary, or...

    An interesting question.......

Yes, very true, but we know from scripture that we can expect those who find the narrow road to be "few", as opposed to the "many" we would be standing against, sub-culture wise. Should we then withdraw into a society where biblical morals and thinking...a gospel theonomy, if you want, takes...

I'd like to have a calm, rational conversation about End Times...anyone?

Thank you. Yes... it does seem a few don't take me seriously and think I'm fishing for something particular, or a troll. It does make getting to the bottom line difficult sometimes. I don't really blame them though, because oh my goodness, there are so many out there who are!! But it's a subject...
