Proof of the Trinity. No takers?

The thing is though, there is ore to the Trinity than that, much more--- "Whosoever will be saved, before all things it is necessary that he hold the catholic faith. Which faith unless every one do keep whole and undefiled, without doubt he shall perish everlastingly. And the catholic faith is...

    Personal Revelation

And do you care that this post has tons of false information, down to the title? I'm not "defending" anything. In fact, there's a lot of Catholicism I passionately disagree with. But that doesn't mean I should lie about what it is they believe. And you didn't answer my question: when was the...

    Personal Revelation

Haha, you're hilarious. (Psst-- I've studied and attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for +30 years. When was the last time you even stepped foot in such a church?) Clearly all the "research" you've done on is poppycock you got from reading a "anti-cult" book. Not worth...

    Personal Revelation

Incorrect. Rather, they are considered of equal importance. Again, equal importance is not the same thing as "secondary".

    Personal Revelation

FYI: none of the people you listed actually make such a claim. Rather everyone points to the essentialness of scripture AND God who speaks to us through the Spirit.

    Personal Revelation

I'm not @jaybird , but I'm seeing his point to be highlighting the importance of the Holy Spirit-- that we always need it, and having scripture (which is fantastic) doesn't mean we don't still need the Spirit. It's not de-valuing scripture, just highlighting the "and" part of your statement.

    Who has visited New Hampshire?

*Jane flashes back to her multi-hour tour of Canada that some how ended up being between North Carolina and Colorado* For the record, I was not the one driving then!

    Who has visited New Hampshire?

Haha. I was only suppose to visit NH, but due to some ...creative navigation...and ended up taking a thorough tour of all three :)

    Who has visited New Hampshire?

I loved my visit to NH! So beautiful. Same with Vermont and Maine.

What is your view of sins, forgiveness, and consequences?

It is important to remember individual situations / personalities, rather than just having a blanket response. Thank you for that reminder.

What is your view of sins, forgiveness, and consequences?

My thoughts are similar to Grace's: yes, punishment happens because of sin. But it's not because God is arbitrarily punishing people. Rather, the punishment that comes is just us reaping the natural sucky consequences of our actions-- God didn't go out of His way to make our lives harder than...

What is your view of sins, forgiveness, and consequences?

I'm going to respectfully disagree with you here: I am not her. I would respond very differently then her here, and want to be treated very differently then she wants. I cannot bear this burden for her-- she's not asking for help, and I cannot give it here.

What is your view of sins, forgiveness, and consequences?

You're ok. My answer here: I cannot help my friend come to repentance. Nor can I rebuild the trust she has shattered. That ball is in her court. I can only embrace the peace God offers me here-- letting go of the anger and letting Him handle it -- in other words forgiving. Me accepting that...

    Personal Revelation

You're part of the world, aren't you So everything written in scripture applies to you. If X is contradicting what is clearly in scripture (and confirmed by asking God Himself), then logically X must be incorrect. Now, if Y doesn't contradict scripture, and you feel it's from God, then it's...

    Personal Revelation

I'm a little hesitant on the words "-tive" words here, as in practice I find people use a variety meanings for them. I would phrase things here as "what God says in scripture is for the world, what God says to me specifically is for me specifically".

    Personal Revelation

That's fair: remember what God says to you individually is important, but what God says in scripture is super important.

    Personal Revelation

My take: Yes God speaks to men. He answers His children that speak to Him in humility. We should never just assume that God's not going to speak to a person. Likewise, we should never just assume that everything we hear is from God. Rather, let's approach everything with humility: listening...

What is your view of sins, forgiveness, and consequences?

Thank you for your words, @"ByGrace". Lot of the story you said is... not to different than what I'm going through with my friend. It is... hard. The line she keeps using is "I need you to show me grace". Which at this point I'm getting the impression she and I have VERY different views on...

What is your view of sins, forgiveness, and consequences?

I'm curious as to other people's views on sins, forgiveness, and consequences. Say somebody close to you (spouse, sibling, longtime friend), committed a very serious wrong (like adultery, betrayal of deep trust, etc). Their actions have deeply hurt you. They are "sorry", but somewhat...

    I am excited....

I'm a major not fan of OSAS as well. But I was thing more broadly. I'm always amazed at the number of people who believe someone is or is not going to be in Heaven, based upon that person's denomination and/or church building and/or assuming they believe something. Much better just to ask...
