The Nicene Creed is not Christian

I can't disagree with your sentiments. However, it seems to me that the baptism analogy of being baptised into Christ at conversion seems to be more in line with what is being taught in Rom 6:3-4.

Dear Church, Here’s Why People Are REALLY Leaving You

This is a discussion forum that needs your interaction and not this kind of evading the issue.

The Nicene Creed is not Christian

Try telling that one to the apostle Paul and his teaching in the epistles. :(

The Nicene Creed is not Christian

But you've missed what he stated before the quote he gave at footnote #12 (p. 246 of his commentary on Romans): I have several other evangelical commentaries that indicate that Rom 6:3-4 does not refer to the physical act of baptism but baptism into the body of Christ as initiation into new...

The Nicene Creed is not Christian

I enjoy Leon Morris (especially his work on Atonement). Can you provide more context for that quote? I don't see that he is denying that this baptism is a reference to water baptism in this citation. It could be he is denying it refers to some meaningless, ceremonial event that does not...

The Nicene Creed is not Christian

You are still avoiding my question about the rest of the NT. Do you place more importance on Jesus' words than on the remainder of the NT?

Dear Church, Here’s Why People Are REALLY Leaving You

Can't you answer a direct question without this kind of innuendo?

Dear Church, Here’s Why People Are REALLY Leaving You

What are you wanting us/me to gain from that clip? How does that relate to what I wrote in #123?

The Nicene Creed is not Christian

I'm still waiting for the answer to my question at #213: 'So, is the remainder of the NT not important for understanding how to inherit God's kingdom?' To say that it is 'double speak' does not answer my question. Oz

The Nicene Creed is not Christian

Wormwood, I consider you have built a strong case for Rom 6:3-4 (ESV) referring to water baptism and I accept the evidence you have provided. However, there are others who accept that this refers to spiritual baptism, i.e. baptism into Christ at the time of conversion. However, there is a...

The Nicene Creed is not Christian

On that, I do agree with you:

    Be fruitful and multiply

Are there any other verses in Genesis 1 that do not apply to us in the 21st century?

The Nicene Creed is not Christian

Another red herring fallacy. Please answer my question.

The Nicene Creed is not Christian

So, is the remainder of the NT not important for understanding how to inherit God's kingdom?

    Regarding Baptism

I urge you to return to being with the people of God, in agreement with Hebrews 10:24-25 (ESV), 'And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day...

The Nicene Creed is not Christian

On that I agree with you. However, you have moved the goalposts from loving God and loving your neighbour. I'm indeed pleased that you are seeing Jesus' commands as much broader than what you originally indicated.

The Nicene Creed is not Christian

Stan, All of us suffer from the intrusion of our own theology - not just Douglas Moo. That's why we need one another as iron sharpening iron. But we need to be open to such sharpening. Oz

    Regarding Baptism

What you have stated here violates Hebrews 13:17 (ESV) as this verse speaks about 'Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls'. 'Leaders' is plural. And there are multiple Christian leaders around the world. Thanks for your encouragement, brother. Or, are...

    Disputable Matters

There are many more commandments than the 10 (besides the one on the Sabbath has been changed - see 'Christians worshiped on the First Day of the week'). See the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7.

The Nicene Creed is not Christian

Could it be that it is not making sense because there is more to Scripture than loving God and loving our neighbours and you are not recognising that?
