When did the 2nd temple literally initially cease being the holy place?

His understanding of "the end" in verses 6, 13 and 14 was that it occurred in 70 AD. I talked to him at length about that. But, He agrees with us that "the end of the age" comes when Jesus returns in the future.

When did the 2nd temple literally initially cease being the holy place?

This proves nothing. It's not the only definition. Look at this passage.. Matthew 23:33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? 34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some...

When did the 2nd temple literally initially cease being the holy place?

Of course they did. Did you not see where I've said I believe Matthew 24:15-22 relates to what happened in 70 AD? I've said that many times and I said that to you in this thread as well. But, did Jesus say "see ye not the end of all these things"? Did the disciples ask: "when shall the end of...

Premillennialism contradicts scripture (1 Corinthians 15:50-54) by having mortal flesh and blood inheriting the kingdom of God when Jesus returns.

That's what I figured, but that doesn't mean you can't still comment on it. I already knew you disagreed with that, but let's see how this thread goes first and then maybe we can talk about that later. Or maybe create a separate thread about that topic.

When did the 2nd temple literally initially cease being the holy place?

Typically, preterists claim that the supposed "old covenant age" ended in 70 AD. What are your thoughts on that? When would you say the old covenant ended?

When did the 2nd temple literally initially cease being the holy place?

There are so many posts at this point, that it will take me awhile to catch up. Whoever asked questions first that have not yet been answered should have his questions answered first and then go from there. That's only fair.

When did the 2nd temple literally initially cease being the holy place?

Yeah, I'm not a fan of all these back and forth one-liner posts. This isn't a chat room, this is a forum.

All who are not taken up to meet the Lord in the air when He comes will be left behind and killed.

Are you aware that Ellicot has that happening at the future return of Christ and not in the first century as you believe? Apparently not. Oops. Ellicot: "We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be Changed.—There are here a considerable variety of readings in the Greek, but the text from which...

All who are not taken up to meet the Lord in the air when He comes will be left behind and killed.

The 1 Corinthians 15 passage is about the resurrection and change of the body in particular. Just read the verses before it for the context. Being absent from the body and present with the Lord is about the resurrection? Huh? The resurrection is a bodily resurrection, so it has nothing to do...

When did the 2nd temple literally initially cease being the holy place?

I meant that they did not ask about it. That was just a typo. Why does the 70 AD era specifically have to be referred to as "the end"? They did not ask about "the end" of Jerusalem, they asked about "the end" of the age.

Thanks for your useless input. As if Amills should be expected to agree on everything. You are an Amill as well and no one here agrees with you much at all beyond the timing of the thousand years. So, the laugh is on you.

Premillennialism contradicts scripture (1 Corinthians 15:50-54) by having mortal flesh and blood inheriting the kingdom of God when Jesus returns.

If you want to talk about that topic, then please create a new thread about it. I'd like to stay on topic in this thread for now instead of derailing it. If there aren't any more replies relating to the topic of this thread in the next 2 or 3 days, then we can discuss your question here if you...

The Jerusalem which is above is the heavenly city of promise which God has prepared for His saints

LOL. No, of course not, silly. Why would I argue that after having argued against dual fulfillments? I believe that Matthew 24:15-21 is a parallel passage to Luke 21:20-24, which means it's about God's wrath that came against Jerusalem in 70 AD. The future great tribulation, in contrast, is...

When did the 2nd temple literally initially cease being the holy place?

I don't understand what you're saying here. Can you elaborate? What exactly do you think comprises "the tribulation" referenced in that verse? And, what exactly do you think is the time period of "those days"? However you understand exactly when and what "the tribulation of those days" refers...

When did the 2nd temple literally initially cease being the holy place?

I don't understand your point here. The disciples were not asked about the "end" of Jerusalem, they were asked about the "end" of the age, which we agree occurs when Jesus returns in the future and not in 70 AD. What do you mean "with all of the discourse which relates to the 70 AD era"? It's...

The Jerusalem which is above is the heavenly city of promise which God has prepared for His saints

There is enough hot air coming from you to keep a hot air balloon afloat. Maybe even the Good Year blimp. Let me know if you have anything to say that you haven't already said a thousand times. But, not a literal thousand times, of course. I'm still not fully convinced that you are a human being...

When did the 2nd temple literally initially cease being the holy place?

In my view they all refer to the second coming of Christ, assuming that you're talking about Matthew 24 verses 6, 13 and 14. We agree that "the end of the age" referenced in verse 3 refers to His second coming. Are there any other reference to "the end" that I have overlooked? I don't think so...

When did the 2nd temple literally initially cease being the holy place?

Yes, and I agree that such wars would have concerned them, but I'm just saying that I don't think that He was only talking about wars in close proximity to Jerusalem or only wars that involved Israel or involved Jews being killed. It's quite apparent that neither of us are going to change our...

Premillennialism contradicts scripture (1 Corinthians 15:50-54) by having mortal flesh and blood inheriting the kingdom of God when Jesus returns.

Yes, I agree, except that I would say it's so that we can enter the eternal new heavens and new earth. But, what you said here makes me realize that what I'm saying in the OP refutes the idea of a pre-trib rapture as well since inheriting the kingdom of God is associated with the time when Jesus...
