How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

I'm so glad "second blessing" was brought up on the Holiness thread, because my brain was forgetting about that. Do those who testify of a second blessing, agree with what you teach regarding imputed righteousness?

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

I don't defend religious flesh. But I have a question or two for you Epi.... I'm wondering whether you have looked into the testimonies and teachings of others who speak of a second blessing? And if so, how does your understanding and teaching compare or differ from theirs?

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Those who know the Lord by a true and living faith have a real connection to God. He speaks to us, we know His voice, and He feeds and leads His flock (those who are following Him). But it's comments like this that confuse me and have made me wonder if you are talking about those who are not...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

"Believe INTO Christ.." Is that the same thing as "grow up INTO the Head in all things, which is Christ...."? But I have to ask, is this what a holy man sounds like? I don't think holiness involves disdaining and belittling the flock of Christ the way that is being done here, but would have a...

    Heart Talks on Holiness

@Laurina ....the reason I'm asking is because I've heard testimonies about a second blessing before, but never associated with denying these basic fundamentals of the faith, as far as I know. Well, think I'll do a little searching and try to find out on-line what Brengle and maybe others who...

    Heart Talks on Holiness

Holiness is a very important topic, in my opinion, and I'm very interested in it. I would like to know what Brengle believes about other things though, such as imputed righteousness and whether a soul can inherit eternal life without having faith in Christ. Do you happen to know?

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Do you think I'm being over-wise? Maybe. In the end it comes down to will He find FAITH on the earth? (ie, in us) I might be taking the long circuitous way around, just to come back to faith, or more of it......but even so, it seems to be light unto my path personally.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Amen. (And that means the world that believes not on Him is convicted as in found guilty of sin....because they believe not on Him. I never used to understand what it meant, I thought it meant the world was being convicted unto repentance somehow, except that didn't make sense in that context)

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Not so. The covering true believers have IS of His spirit and blood. This is as opposed to relying on one's own righteousness like the not born again law-keeping folks were doing. But we are required to produce fruit in keeping with our repentance.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

You sound irritated, but I have to thank you for quoting Johan's post, I might have missed it otherwise, trying to catch up a bit in a spot-reading way. Haven't seen what he was responding to yet, but I especially like the mention of bringing fruit to perfection. Think you are mis-judging this...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Corrupt religion turns to sin, it is given over to sin.......it becomes Mystery Babylon...given over to the plagues of being a cage full of demons. (The Roman Catholic church is a case in point.) The Jewish priesthood had become so grossly sinful and corrupt by 70 AD, (as well as murdering and...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

I'll have to come back to this. I believe there are different rewards for those who have eternal life, as well as different punishments for those who do not. Is this what you are referring to? Still either death or life. Some will suffer in a greater or lesser way in hell than others...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Brother, I'm not even sure I understand myself yet really. :) Just trying to examine and look at this and feel the way slowly. And am I understanding what you are saying here....how scripture sometimes states things as though it is already a done deal, when it is sometimes really speaking in...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

An allegory in the OT.....conception and birth are in one way an allegory for being born again. The Lord warning Israel that the fountain and issuing of life would be dried up...ie, no more fruitful harvest of souls due to their sin. A lesson to the church as well. I was just pointing out...

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Here again you prefer your own faulty reasonings over God's word. Didn't God say He has mercy on who He has mercy? And that some are vessels of wrath and others vessels of mercy. There is no question of anybody "forgetting" their glasses here, it 's a question of who God grants those glasses...

    Not imagination.....simply God's word.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

That accuses God of unrighteousness. His judgment is righteous and JUST. Not murder. Murder concerns killing the innocent, not exacting justice of the guilty.

How are we to reckon ourselves as being dead to sin?

Wow. Jesus is the one who said to fear He who can destroy both body and soul in hell. Is there another alternative between the lake of fire and eternal life? I don't see any in scripture. Either wrath or not appointed to wrath....is there something in between?? Either death or life...what...
