WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

I appreciate this mailmandan. I'm not here to debate this because I'm not sure what it means. I've narrowed it down to baptism because both John the Baptist and Jesus baptized so it seems like an important event. (I now that Jesus' baptizing came after he spoke to Nicodemus). I also understand...

Is it possible to lose salvation?

Too comfy of an argument Ronald Nolette. Saying "they were never saved to begin with" is just too comfy. Come away from your comfort zone and read what the NT states. JESUS said that some will fall away: Luke 8:13 13 "Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word...

Is it possible to lose salvation?

I never said YOU are,,,,but many do. Joel Osteen is not running a very biblical church...I don't see any criticism of him. There's a big difference Amigo. The CC teaches biblical ideas including salvation. The Calvinist churches cannot do this because it's not up to any individual to decide on...

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

You touched on a theological idea that I like. The trichotomy of man. Man is made of 3 parts. Body, Soul, Spirit. The body and soul comprise man in his natural state. When we add the spirit, man becomes complete and is once again reconciled to Go.

Why am I not a Christian?

I understand why... but you shouldn't be listed as OTHER FAITH.

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

Can't remember if I've already replied to this.... Adam walked with God. God created him and allowed him to name the animals...a priviledge. God said that it was VERY GOOD after creating Adam. You're right that Adam had to prove himself. By obeying God.... he didn't. And I agree with you 100%...

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

I'm not here to defend the CC. I agree that we should be giving ALL the credit to Jesus. Much of what you say is correct.

Why am I not a Christian?

OK OreCove I'm not understanding what you're saying so I can't respond. Sorry.

Is it possible to lose salvation?

@Kokyu 2 of 2 Yes sir. IF one FALLS AWAY from the faith.... he no longer has faith. Faith is necessary for salvation.... no faith no salvation Don't think it's so strange K. Paul said we are not to follow a different gospel. Galatians 1:6-8 6 I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting *...

Is it possible to lose salvation?

We were discussing the fact that the NT teaches that salvation can be lost. The verses I posted are sufficient to understand that all the writers taught this. There are plenty more if you really need them... but it's clear that eternal security is conditional on abiding in Christ and obeying...

Is it possible to lose salvation?

Here's what I believe to be true. It started out good. It did a lot of good at the beginning or we wouldn't be here discussing this due to all the heresy that floated about. But it lost its way. There are some in the CC that are saved and some that are not. I don't like to bash denominations...

Is it possible to lose salvation?

Keep up the good work Dave Mac. The naysayers are putting persons into jeopardy. God demands obedience. Plain and simple.

Is it possible to lose salvation?

And herein is the problem Ezra.... The OSAS side plainly states that one can live a life of sin and still be saved. Some come to believe this but it seems to me that you understand that this cannot be. And yet some teach this on these forums! It is very dangerous to teach osas and think that...

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

Hi I understand that some on this thread believe the water to be the word of God. I've come to the conclusion that this is the least likely explanation. Water is used as the word....correct. But it's also used for baptism and John goes on to state that Jesus was baptizing person just a few...

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

Hi John,,,, I had read about the above some years ago... how it should read BORN FROM ABOVE and what ABOVE means. Could you explain better what BORN FROM ABOVE means? Difficult for me to understand why I have a problem with John 3:5 I know that J the B baprized for the forgiveness of sin. HE...

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

I agree that it certainly can be baptism. Further on in John 3 .... John does explain how Jesus went on to baptize persons via the Apostles. But HOW did Jesus debunk the physical aspect of water? Didn't Jesus say what is born of flesh is flesh and what is born of spirit is spirit? Isn't Jesus...

WHAT IS THE WATER IN JOHN 3:5?

Hi JunChosen I'd say that between all the choices listed in the OP....the WATER meaning the gospel, or the word of God, is the least accepted. I tend to go along with that conclusion. Right now I tend to agree with @David in NJ in his post no. 166 Thanks for posting!

Is it possible to lose salvation?

The OSAS love this verse. Too bad it's speaking about gnostics that had entered into the church and decided it was not for them. Study up on some church history.

Is it possible to lose salvation?

I see. So Jesus spend over 3 years teaching how to have FELLOWSHIP with God.... or did Jesus die on that cross to get us to heaven? A person CANNOT have fellowship with God unless he OBEYS God. John 3:36 36 "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not...

Is it possible to lose salvation?

And yet BEHAVIOR is all Jesus spoke of. Here is the wise man: Matthew 7:24 24 "Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. Acts on the words of Jesus means that we do what He taught. Here is the foolish...
