These are my thoughts.
We are chosen for the purpose of us obeying Him and we are by Christ who died for us.

That passage is poorly translated. The letter is addressed to Jewish Christians and actually reads, 'to the elect pilgrims of the dispersion.' It's not saying someone was elect because of foreknowledge.

God knew us before we knew Him. And He chose us as His people, just as He first chose the nation of Israel. The inclusion of Gentiles is no divine afterthought; it was part of God’s plan from the very beginning. The Holy Spirit is the agent who has put God’s choice into effect, by bringing us into God’s Kingdom – just like He did with Cornelius (Acts 10:47). As a result, we have submitted to the authority of Christ and entered into a solemn covenant with God, just as Israel did at Sinai; but in our case, the covenant has been sealed not with animal sacrifices but with the death of Jesus Christ. Father, Son and Spirit are all involved in our salvation, and the true Gospel is Trinitarian.

As believers in Jesus, we have already received both grace and peace from God. But He still has more to give us: grace to enable us to live holy lives, and peace to enable us to endure suffering and persecution.

We should praise God that thru Christ we have a new life in Him.

1 Peter 1:3 King James Version (KJV)
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

1 Peter 1:3 Living Bible (TLB)

3 All honor to God, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ; for it is his boundless mercy that has given us the privilege of being born again so that we are now members of God’s own family. Now we live in the hope of eternal life because Christ rose again from the dead.

These are my thoughts.
Thru Christ we gain something that can not be taken away from us or wear out and that is our glory in Him.
