James 1:22-25 KJV
[22] But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
[23] For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
[24] For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
[25] But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

The "Law of Liberty" is that by which every person shall be judged (James 2:12 KJV) - the same "Law of Liberty" which says "thou shalt commit no adultery" and "thou shalt not kill" (James 2:10-12 KJV) - the Ten Commandments. This "Law of Liberty" is a "mirror" into which the Christian is to look continually to see if he's gotten any dirt on his face - to see he's allowed sin to creep into his life (James 1:22-25 KJV).

You can't remove the "dirt" of having broken the Ten Commandments by keeping the Ten Commandments. Nor does casting aside the Ten Commandments remove the dirt either. So, what's the purpose of this "mirror" law? "Christ is the end (aka "purpose") of the law" (James 2:10 KJV) meaning the purpose of the law is to send us to Christ for cleansing. By His blood, we can obtain both cleansing from the dirt of sin and power to obey the Ten Commandments, so afterward, when we look again into that perfect "Law of Liberty" and see a nice clean face, we can thank the mirror for showing us the dirt, and then thank Jesus Who ever remains ready to clean us up (1 John 1:9 KJV) and "keep us from falling" (Jude 1:24 KJV).

That includes you, Antinomian friend. Trying to smash the mirror by your OSAS License to Sin claim that the Ten Commandments are "no more" or "done away with" or "nailed to the Cross" or "replaced by the Two Commandments" is as pointless as the Legalist trying to clean himself up by obeying the Ten Commandments. The dirt remains. It's your responsibility to go to Jesus for cleansing, not pretend your dirty face is clean...So stop trying to break the mirror because you don't like what you see. Rather, go to Jesus for cleansing, and afterward look again into the mirror and you'll see Jesus smiling back at you.
