My daughter was molested by a next door neighbor when she was 8. The anger I had toward the legal system was more intense than the anger I had at the neighbor who had moved before we found out that my daughter had been molested. At one time I sat in the State Attorney's office for nine hours demanding to see someone. She finally came out and sat down to talk to me. Nothing but excuses as to why I never received a call back concerning our case. I finally stopped her and said "We did the right thing and came to you. You owe the victim, not the criminal. All we want is an update, you have a secretary and several para legals. Just one phone call. I could have taken care of this myself. I learned to shoot in Wyoming, a typical shot is over 200 yards. I use a 7mm Mag. I know his truck route, his truck number and have several locations where I can set up and end his life. Not a jury in the world would prosecute me. All I ask for is a little consideration. My house is upside down, I have a daughter believing she did something wrong and a wife re experiencing her rape as a child, just keep me informed, its all I ask." The attorney called me two weeks later. "They requested a deposition. The entire staff will e all males. Does your daughter have a problem facing a room full of males?" "You let me handle my daughter. She'll be ready. I caution you, if her brown eyes turn jet black, you'll know she's mad. Beware when she does that." Deposition came and at the end the Attorney asked "Why are you doing this?" My little girl stiffened her back, looked the neighbor straight in the eye, Eyes turned black as coal and she replied, "Because I don't want you to do the same thing to your daughter that you did to me." The deposition ended right there. They knew if she sat in front a judge and jury and did that ....The neighbor confessed the following day. My wife and I sat in the back of the court room as they sentenced him. We got up and left as they took him into the back to finger print him,
I can understand AOC's anger. But it doesn't explain her hatred for everything else in life.
Sorry that you went through this, it must be pretty difficult, but I hope your daughter has recovered from that awful experience.
As for AOC, I really don't know how to debate with people in that position, if they had been raped and it resulted in an unwanted pregnancy they are left with a few options. I mean what do we tell them??
It's a lose lose in a way, an abortion is nasty and the baby doesn't deserve it, but go ahead with the pregnancy and the mother has to live with seeing half the dad in the child which brings back nasty memories, and has to eventually tell the child what actually happened, when they start asking questions about who is their father. And that takes a lot of grace and forgiveness, that level of grace and forgiveness the world cannot give, and even a lot of Christians would struggle in that situation, it also requires being healed of the trauma, which of course God can do, but in a fallen world not everyone has the faith.
So how do we get the message through to those people who have been through that situation and they actively promote abortion as a result? How do we get through the message that abortion is wrong.
In my opinion is I don't think there is anything we can do respectfully debate or change their minds with those type of people.
The only way is to pray that God heals their wounds... God is the only one who can change people like that.
I was saying stuff against abortion on Twitter years ago, and then someone who had exactly went through that situation who had fallen pregnant as a result of rape brought it up. And from memory I just had to apologize to her. It's such a sensitive topic to some. I mean what can we do? All we can do is pray.
